Official Thread for Recluses Victory: PvP Zone
Bloody Bay is often deemed too large for a PvP zone.
Siren's Call is often praised for it's size and architecture.
Warburg is a mixed bag, though it seems quite large for the low numbers of players - a blessing if you're trying to do the missile missions, but a snore-fest if you're looking for PvP.
So what's the new zone?
BIG. And the "dimensional reversion..." OK - fine. Comic-book-y... but if the pillboxes cause Debt, will anyone actually GO there?
Currently, the exit to Atlas Park is broken. Once you get into the zone, you can't leave (the option isn't there). While this is only a minor inconvienence on Test, this would be crippling on the live servers. Can we please see a fix for this ASAP? Thanks.
This was really fun, though Lord Recluse and his gang put Tyrant and his boys to shame. (looked at Recluses HP and saw it was tilting over 70k) o_O There was atleast 10 people wailing on them and didn't dent them very much till someone debuffed the AV
for those of you complaining about lag, did you try to turn your graphics down to minimum? that helped me out a lot. Then again, this is a higher performance computer.
I went into RV last night and had great fun fighting over pill boxes. The only issues I had were (1)when I died and was sent to the hospital I didn't rez with full health. and (2) Didn't fully understand how to operate the pillbox/platforms. I tried using the passive and defensive controls but relly couldn't do anything.
Maybe the Dev team could add some small tutorial on how to properly operate the pilbox/platforms once they have been acquired.
The rezing with only 1 HP and 1 End might be a bug, or it might be a way to slow down the action. I.E. if you get send to the hosp you need to rest before coming back out to fight.
I know if it hits live with rezing to 1 Hp and 1 End i will just stand by the hosp area as an EMP and heal to grind the healing badges. If a tank get sent to the hosp i can get something like 2000 HP healed in one shot.
You can't invite fellow villians to your Villian Group in this zone either. You get a prompt stateing that you can't invite enemies.
Also when my stalker activates powers. They come back as ready in the tray but when you click on them you get the recharging prompt above my toon.

Hear us hear us!!! I agree with this!!!
What's with the health thing?....if that's the way it is, ok, but I'd have liked to appear with full health as in any other pvp zone.
Please please include something to guide you through the pillbox/platforms! Make the npc characters give some kind of explanation
Other than that, this zone is AWESOME!
Just an FYI, the signature heroes/villains appear when a side takes 4 pillboxes. They will despawn for 2 reasons, either the side wins or the side drops below 4 pillboxes.
We had a really cool situation where the heroes had just 4 (LR and BS turned up at Golf), then the villains took one of them.. the signatures disappeared, and the villains eventually gained 4 for them, 3 for us.. BAB and Manticore appeared. And then the villains turned the whole zone evil.
It was sweet.
Was experiencing much greater lag in PVP than PVE. After activating a power there would be a 2-3 second pause before it animated.

I've never had difficulties exiting the zone. Although, the hero base is a bit confusing. Took me an hour the first time to remember the entrance was facing west. Then it took me another hour to remember that the portal was on the top floor of the underground complex and around a corner.
We are able to buff and heal the signature characters that arrive to help, which I absolutely love. However, currently there seems to be no way to see a fight between Recluse and Statesman, or between any other signatures; when one side's reinforcements spawn, the other side's despawn. This battle was shown in both past screenshots and the game trailer released this week. Were these instances staged, or was it intended that they might actually occur?
Wasn't on Test for very long last night (had to edit my Live base), but here's what I found:

Is there a way to get the "patrol" badge (Risk taker) for those of us who were higehr than 40 when I6 came out ?
I havent seen a "mission" contact as of yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
Verified: NO hero mission contact (unconfirmed for villians). Not sure if he's missing or just not on Test yet. Need confirmation that we will be able to run missions in this PvP zone (especially for higher level characters wanting those badges!).

I don't know if any one is aware of this or not, but after zoning out from RV zone into regular atlas park, the graphics start to "skip" and slow down. This happened to not only me, but all of my teammates after zoning out. Zoning in and gameplay while in the zone was smooth and fine. But after zoning out of RV, for some reason gameplay has a "skip" in it. (ie, flying along, and the picture will skip in place for a moment before resuming)
[/ QUOTE ]
Verified.
Once I zoned back to AP, the game would start skipping frames. Confirmed it with a /showfps command (not that I really needed that to tell me my game looked like a strobe light dance club). Haven't seen a problem like this before.

The exit from Recluse's Victory to Atlas Park is mislabeled. It ought to be named Atlas Park, but is named Recluse's Victory.

Ther are actually three TP pads in RV for heroes. One leads into the zone (the one on the bottom floor of the Longbow base). The other leads back to AP (upstairs and around the wall, the Portal gate). The third gate leads to Recluse's Victory. However, this looks like a base portal (the same sort of screen pops up), and since I don't have a base on Test, I can't verify this. But I'm willing to bet that's what it is (need to see the map in this area).
One more finding:
The pillbox icons on the Lonbow base's war map aren't drawing right. Linky.
Quick observation from my run in on the Hero side of things.
And I realize this is a nitpick, but it was the first thing I thought of when I found out where the entrance was.
Portal Corp technology is notoriously unstable. Is it really the smartest idea in the world to shove a portal underneath Atlas Park? Especially putting it right next to Azuria's office! Because, ya know, nothing bad ever happens to anything near her or anything (sarcasm? why yes!)... I get the idea that Freedom Corp wants to keep a tight lid on it, but if that portal ever starts to become unstable, it's going to blow a hole in one of the few places that most of the residents of Paragon City actually feel safe!
Of course, the Villain side of me loves it. Perfect place to bust through and take over.

not sure if this is the right thread but the "heavies " ( big mech thing ) seem really weak against repel
i was using my lvl 50 fire/kin and i bouncing a villain heavy like it was a childs toy
i couldnt test if from the villains stand point

In Siren's Call, if you leave the hotspots alone, the heroes will remain in control. Should not the reverse be true in RV?

Agreed, that would make sense.

Bah. I currently can't access RV on test: Every time I try to zone in, the COMPUTER crashes after 1/5th of the progress bar goes. I'm going to try setting graphics to "absolute, major suckage" and see if that works (it worked for villains beta....), but otherwise keep in mind that high graphics settings are likely to cause zoning issues.

thanks for reminding me, Paul. Since I got my new computer a couple of months back, I never once have thought of taking it off the highest settings. After upgrading from a Nvidia 5200... this overclocked 6800gs is daylight to the previous night. I'll try it again tonight.
The blue/red slider that runs from 0 to 1000 seems to represent something called 'Temporal Points'. If you earn enough of them, you get a personal Heavy class pet, according to the information icon next to the zone name in the compass.
I've been able to determine that killing turrets gets you points, while being defeated loses them. Winning the whole zone also gets you points. When the zone reverts, your points reset.
This is going to be a very difficult pet to earn!
So I finally got to go to RV last night...
Outside of the Hami Raid lag... when you are defeated you're rez'd with 0 HP (yay full defiance!) and 0 End.
I was droned a couple of time... and I wasn't given a "Go to Hospital" button.
The only other thing that sticks out is the invisible cape under Atlas Statue. I'm sure a dev will eventually say that this is Working as intended™ or some such.

I took over a pillbox that was already villain-side, but the person controlling it had been killed or run away or something. It had no turrets, but when I took it over, ONE turret spawned (instead of four) and it was right next to me, clipping the transparent dome. I'm guessing this is a bug.

I'm not quite sure. I could *swear* I activated a heavy with 0 points... and got 50 points afterward. Somehow I got 75 total after *that.*
A little more explanation would be good, yes.
My two cents:
- FUN zone. Yes, I need a villain levelled up enough to get in... but it's still fun.
- The rezzing with 1 HP *has* to be a bug. It makes the 30 second timer pointless, otherwise. Of course, you can't (so far) sneak into the hearo base, at least, where the tubes are.
- Um, drones... No, this isn't a drone death complaint. We chased some villains back to their base. Someone drew out a drone as it was announced the AVs were in. I was close enough to get *hit* by the drone... but I didn't die (I was jumping away when it shot.) I was fully expecting a drone death... nope.
I sat there, phased and held, for several minutes. Had someone try to CM me. Had a stalker try to AS me. Had a brute try to beat on me. Nada. That hold/phase needs a timer. (No, I didn't have any break frees at that point, I'd used them.) I was fully healed from the sliver of health it had knocked me down to... by my own regen rate (as an elec/elec blaster, not a /regen scrapper) and still held and phased. Either it has to do SC buiding explosion type damage, or it needs a timer....
Kudos to Cryptic on such a great idea for a PVP zone. And being able to fight official characters.
A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

The problem with the drones is very likely an unforeseen bug in the "no one-shot kill" code that they implemented with I7. Drones hold you, phase you, and one-shot you in that order. If they can't one-shot you...then you're held and phased. And right now, they can't one-shot you. I'm betting the same thing happens with the drones in the other PVP zones, but I haven't yet tested it. I probably should some time soonish.
The Atlas statue is definately a case of "Recluse's geometry there but invisible" when it's in hero-mode. I flew around it quite a bit and mapped out the areas that I couldn't fly into...and it matches the villain-mode version. I believe that's going to have to be a "Working as intended" answer, because I honestly don't know of any way they can make the switches otherwise. And frankly...It's really not that big of a deal. At least in my less than humble opinion.
All in all, this is a *really* fun zone, even for someone who is generally indifferent to PVP most of the time. I expect it will be much more interesting once there's more villains around, just as Siren's Call was. Oddly, I found that I didn't have a single problem with Stalkers all night - And my main PVP character is often known as Stalker-bait, being an Empath Defender. I suspect that Siren's Call will continue to be the Stalker hangout of choice, given my admittedly limited testing from last night.
GREAT zone. Great idea. More please!

My new favorite thing is when Recluse spawned finaly and was under attack he immedaitly ran strait for the villain base. It was awesome
