Issue 7: Patron Powers!
im worried!!! No stam recovery for brutes except that one that drains from a foe. Im a SS/DA. I need more stam. I hope this isnt offical or im in for a world of hurt. Lord help us!
I do realize i dont have the numbers for them so ill keep it in mind. Power sink or conserve power would have been perfect though.
LOL didnt even realize i was first to reply. Even though there may not be a stam power like Power sink and conserve power for brutes, I would like to say keep up the good work devs. The powers add alot of differnt flavors.
I said it in the other thread but...not impressed so far

Rock, rock on Hamster.
I have to admit, I'm very dissapointed in the MM PPPs. Our pets get nothing? No new playmate? No new toys? They do all the work and take all the pain! This is a slap in the face to MMs.

Pfft, focused accuracy is for scrappers.

Heh, I wouldn't mind a toggled constant to-hit buff to override defenses and increased perception.

Got Rage???
Well, those who said the Patron Powers would have to be very, very similar across the Patrons weren't wrong. They seem to follow enough of a set pattern that no one pool is outstandingly different from any other. For example:
Brutes get: Ranged single-target attack, AoE Immob, ranged AoE damage, Pet.
Doms get: Attack OR End buff, Armour, ranged AoE damage, pet.
This isn't a criticism.

Flying ghost sharks.

Yes!
But in mechanics terms, still a single-target attack, an AoE immob, and so on.
I just PM'ed CuppaJo and ask in what way the in game hard number for the PP's will be represented
here is the response

No idea - haven't seen it yet.

I don't like the sound of that
Giving stalkers a snipe when they already have AS is just insane. So now the great keep moving strategy doesn't mean squat since you can get sniped. Way to go there.
No Spirit Sharks for Doms? Aww... I was looking forward to chucking a shark at foes... At least I can get water spout, which combined with carrion creepers might be the most chaotic thing ever!

Nobody's saying that the snipe can crit. In fact, I highly doubt it CAN crit. That'd be overpowering. It also won't be as strong as a Blaster's snipe, in the same way that, say, energy blasts given to Controllers in their epic pools are scaled down a lot.
We don't have real numbers yet. Don't panic.

Consider the off-and-on complaint that Scrappers APP ranged attacks can crit.
Just sayin.
Yeah, and choosing a patron doesn't seem to make a lot of difference. The per-AT choices are all about the same across all of the patrons. Your choice in patron basically just decides the theming of your new powers.
I'm actually a bit disappointed, I was hoping for a bit more variety, although that would probably lead to 3/4 of the players in an AT choosing one patron and the other 1/4 being evenly divided. Sort of like the EPPs now for Scrappers and Tanks (which one did you get? Uh, the one with Conserve power and Focused Accuracy).
Some people have been deriding the MM powers, but in reality they look pretty useful to me. An AoE Immob? Just what I need against some factions (CoT). A Hold? Who wouldn't like a hold? Armor? Well, the armor will have to be fairly strong to be of any real use because MMs have such low HPs to start with and it doesn't help the pets at all, but who knows? The AoE attack is a wildcard that will depend on the numbers. A strong AoE would be very useful, but a weak AoE (like what's already available in the Primaries for some MMs) is kinda pointless.
sounds interesting. web grenades for ice/cold = ouch

Making the powers so similar is the only way the devs could have made them a permanent pool choice. The only real difference is the type of damage the attacks do, and the damage types the shields protect you from.

I'm betting that the snipe will in fact crit from Hide. However, remember that Stalker damage scale is lower than Blaster damage scale, so it may only be ~1.5x as powerful as a Blaster Snipe when it crits.
Snipes have a big weakness in PvP though, if someone breaks LoS before the animation finishes, it will actually miss, unlike most powers in the game. AS, Placate, Snipe may actually suck because most PvP zones are busy enough that someone with travel powers can break LoS before the snipe animation finishes.

Except the brawl index is not even above 3 for any of them.

Which is an issue -- but less of one than an AT capable of ALWAYS critting, and then sneaking away so they can snipe you again a short time later. It's more of an issue for Stalkers, so I figure there's more of a chance it'll be addressed.
Now then, something new.
For folks who want NEUTRAL looking powers, IE not hitting enemies with a fish or a flying skull, these are some good ones:
Scorpion/MM: The powers here aren't that hot, but the invuln they offer is actually DEF based, not DAMRES based. That'll stack well with force fielders or traps folks. Just take the Inv and move on.
Mako/Dom: Waterspout plus armor. Perfect for a Plant dominator, and even the 'spit' cone could be appropriate. Summoning a Coralax is also more neutral than summoning someone in full Arachnos military garb.
Widow/Some: For Widow's soulstorm based powers (rather than her boring old dark powers) they're neutral enough to be a nice sound-and-light show. The armor looks very nice, for instance.
Scirocco/All: It's lightning. Nuff said. No baseball bats, no fish. Granted, lightning isn't appropriate for many villains (plant folks, stone folks, etc) but it's generic enough to work. And you can claim you kidnapped the Mu guy. They're bondage nuts, they might enjoy that...
I still wish we had more choice here. Thankfully I can find a working neutral combo for most of my characters, other than my MM. (Being branded with a giant glowing Black Scorpion symbol for her armor is a pain. I'll pretend she stole it, I guess.)
