Badge Questions
[ QUOTE ]
Actually, on CoH you do have two badges. The title and graphic is the same, but the text changes--before respec it says "your powers are changing", after respec it says "your powers have changed"
[/ QUOTE ]
CoH awards an Accolade badge for the respec itself (something like Awarded the Freedom Cross) which has a title that changes depending on if you've used the respec or not.
CoH ALSO awards an Accomplishment badge called Transmogrified which just says you've saved the Terra Volta reactor. You only get this badge the first time you do the respec.
Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think the Transmogrified badge changes after you respec. I think only the accolade is replaced with a post-respec version.
I could be wrong.
[ QUOTE ]
Since CoH and CoV badges are the same, why doesn't CoV have a version of the Transmogrified badge from CoH? You get that badge after completing the respec trial once (no matter which of the three incarnations you do), and it doesn't change no matter if you've used a respec or not. Why can't that badge be awarded to Villains and then have Arbiter Leery key off of Transmogrified?
It makes sense to me, but there must be a reason this isn't the way it's set up.
[/ QUOTE ]
I doubt the badge and respec systems work differently between Coh and CoV. So...
Have you considered there are acutally 2 badges with exactly the same graphics and text. They both look like the Transmogrified badge.
The first is given after the respec trail is complete and you select the respec as the reward. This badge unlocks the given respec. Once the respec is used, the first badge is taken back and the second badge is rewarded. The 2nd badge signifies that you complete the given respec trail and used the respec. This prevents you from getting the same respec again.
Could be, but I doubt it. You don't get a new "Badge Earned" message for the Transmogrified badge after you use your first respec, but you DO get a new "Badge Earned" message for Awarded the Freedom Cross. Transmogrified just means you've completed the trial at least once, while the individual Accolades keep track of which respecs you've used.
Like I said, there's probably a reason things are the way they are, but I wanted to throw the possibility out there for discussion.
Positron, my being exemplarred is NOT me at a lower level.
At lvl 1 I sure didn't have 6 slots of 25% enhancements in there....
Positron, you said earlier that you don't want players to stay in PvP zones, running PvE missions all the way to 50.
Does this apply to Recluse's Victory? Will there be missions/badges there too?
50s: Silent Spy - MA/Regen Scrapper | Tinkerhell - SS/Inv Brute | Extrasensory - Psi/Men Blaster | Ana Cruz - DP/PD Corruptor | Sara Thunderbird - Elec/Elec Scrapper | Pinstrike - Spines/SR Scrapper | Cold Feet - Cold/Cold Blaster

Positron,
Thank you again for providing us with useful information.
I have one question though? Why are ALL the exploration badges in PvP zones the "villain" graphic? I know it's petty and small to think this, but isn't it sort of giving the PvP zones to the villains? I just ask because it bugs me everytime I view my hero's badges and see those exploration badges with the red "X" graphic.
Ok, I have 2 questions. The 2nd being: Will the Shadow Shard TF badges ever get their artwork fixed?
Thanks, again!

One question I forgot to ask:
Villain History Badges
There are only three that have been discovered. Are there more that just have hard-to-find plaques, or are there only three?
50s: Silent Spy - MA/Regen Scrapper | Tinkerhell - SS/Inv Brute | Extrasensory - Psi/Men Blaster | Ana Cruz - DP/PD Corruptor | Sara Thunderbird - Elec/Elec Scrapper | Pinstrike - Spines/SR Scrapper | Cold Feet - Cold/Cold Blaster

Is it poor foresight on our part to put something like this in? Probably. Will it change in the future? Doubtful

You had me until you got to that point.
It was probably poor foresight, but it's doubtful anything will change.
Sorry dude-fella, that just doesn't zing right in my head.

I, also, would like to see these changed. But I want the exact opposite: I want the Villains to get the hero badge for them. Fair is fair, and it would single out the PvP badges from the rest on both sides.
Posi,
Not sure if this has been asked lately, but when will we be able to earn a badge for killing Deathsurge.
Also: will villains ever get Demon Slayer for defeating Baphomet in Magus' mission in CoV?

Posi,
Any chance you will look at the requirements for the last 2 influence/infamy badges? Any chance of cutting them in half to say, 500 million and 1 billion? With the advent of prestige and loss of influence in SGMode, I really think the requirements should be adjusted.
the next patch fixing the 10 heroes badges that are bugged too?
or is this still about villians
curenttly bugged
gunner,
4 gladiator badges
spider smasher
pvp zone badges
pvp mish badges
the list gets bigger with every patch
PvP zone badges seem to be working fine following the guidelines Posi himself posted at the beginning of this thread.
Can we please try to be a little less hostile to a dev taking the time to answer our questions?
As far as I know, only the following badges are bugged:
Fortunata Seer
Spider Smasher
Mu Guardian
Gunner

Badges don't care if you are villain or hero, there are no (or should I say, very few) badges that are "hero only" or "villain only". If you are able to defeat an enemy required for a badge, you can earn that badge.
[/ QUOTE ]
I asked earlier in this thread, is this the case with the Circle of Thorns AV "Baphomet"? He is in a CoV mission and does not award a badge for defeat, whereas in CoH he awards the "Demon Slayer" badge for being defeated. Customer Service told me that the Demon Slayer badge is only available in City of Heroes, and the CoV version of Baphomet does not offer a badge. This seems somewhat contradictory to what you just stated, but this could be one of those "very few". Is that the case? Is it intentional? Just curious, thanks.
[ QUOTE ]
Arbiter Leery is a special case, since the "I have the Respec and have not used it" and "I have used this Respec" badges are actually DIFFERENT badges (we take one away and give the other). A contact can only have one badge that 'unlocks' them, and in this case we needed 2.
[/ QUOTE ]
Would it then be possible to give one of those nifty invisible badges (like the one people are reporting for the Valentine's Day missions) for successful completion of the respec SF, and then hook up the unlocking of Arbiter Leery to that badge? Then he'd be available to anyone who has done the respec strike force, whether they used a respec, still have a respec, or even chose a respec as their reward.
A few previous posters were right, this is how the respec stuff works in CoH:
I do the Terror Volta Trial at level 24, and succeed. For completing the trial, I get "Transmogrified", which is an Accomplishment "Trial" badge, using the same graphic as the ones for the Sewer, Eden, and Cavern Trials. The badge text says "You have saved the Terra Volta reactor, blah blah blah."
Then, if I choose the respec reward at the end, I get a second badge: Received the Stallwart Medallion, which is an accolade. The text says "...Your powers seem to be fluctuating."
If I go cash in on that respec, Stallwart Medallion will be taken away and replaced by a near identical badge, same title, but different text, now saying "...has changed your powers in a permenant way."
However, City of Villains for some reason does not have an available Trial badge for the Thorn Tree, which would be perfect to use to unlock Leery, since you would get it regardless of your respec usage or awardage.
Secondly, in that vein, Positron, could we get a fix so that the CoH respec badges stay in order, even with the awarding/re-awarding, instead of how it is now? Because I really like have them in order regardless of my respec usage.

Only when they appear in the world (outside of mission maps) do "Giant Monsters" count for badges. Basically: if it was meant to be taken down by more than 1 team, it gives the badge. Mission versions are scaled down versions that are more like AV's, thus able to be defeated by a single team, and thus do not give the badge.

I think you're a bit confused here, Posi. Baphomet has always been a Circle AV (now AV/EB) that appears in a portal mission or Shadow Shard TF in CoH. Now in a mission in CoV, he's not giving the badge, despite being in the same conditions.
Never appeared outside or as a Giant Monster, AFAIK.

The CoH version of Baphomet appears only inside a mission, not as a Giant Monster. He's in one of the later Portal Corp missions, in an alternate world conquered by the Thorns. This is the only place to defeat him in City of Heroes, and the only way to receive a badge. If he was a Giant Monster in City of Heroes, I would never have questioned it. He is, however, an Archvillain there just like he's an Archvillain in CoV (scaled down to Elite Boss due to the latest patch, though you indicated that would make no difference).
Good news about the Leery thing, though.
I got my Titan Red Kronos badge inside a mission.

You're right... I fixed it so it works off both the CoH and CoV versions now (there are two different versions).
You may need to go back and defeat him again in CoV to get credit.
This will be in an upcoming patch.
