Paragon City: Galaxy City Zone Update

Galaxy City is a small, sheltered district near the heart of Paragon City. It is a densely populated region located between Independence Port to the west, and Perez Park to the east. Galaxy is south of the financial towers of Steel Canyon, and north of the industrial warehouses of King’s Row. Tour the zone here.

NOTE: A few people suggested things they would like to see on Galaxy City in another thread (and via PM). While not everything is included here, I will see what I can include when I do the more in-depth Neighborhood Report in the near future.

cheers,

So am I remembering a different heroine that sacrificed her life to stop the Meteor? The one that fragments hit in Bloody Bay?

Still here, even after all this time!

I love it Arctic!

Galaxy City is my favorite zone, and what can I say? Great read!

Nice article, Arctic.

As for the story confusion, was it possible that another by the name of Galaxy Girl was involved with the meteor?

Edited for spelling

Did Kelly have a daughter?

I sense a ret-con coming. Regardless, it's a beautiful article Arctic.

Ditto. While I always enjoy these little backstory-filling articles...the heck? I thought Galaxy Girl was a relatively modern hero, an Empathy/* Defender who died Absorbing Pain from her BFF Ms. Liberty during the Rikti War to save her life.

That is how I read the plaque in Galaxy...

Though the meteor point isn't her, that's the statue inside City Hall in Atlas Park, the one you get a badge. She's the one who gained Citizenship for every country in the world for that act.

Good write up. Excellent story. I read the plaque before, but never felt it come alive like that did.

Great work!

Nope. I had to log on to CoH and check. The girl in City Hall with the meteor bit is Cassiopeia. You get the Patriot badge when you stand in front of her statue.

So... about that comment about ret-con...

Wha, no mention of all the heroes hanging out in Gemini Park? *sad*

I just read the plaque in Eden last week about Galaxy Girl staying behind to hold off the Rikti and saving her best friend Ms. Liberty.

This is a good story, too, though.

And I could have sworn M-1 is referenced in-game as being a WWI hero, not WWII, but I could be mistaken. anyone else remember?

M-1 is described under the "Tank" exploration badge (location is in one of the pictures in the article, guess which one! Whee games!)

Where in Eden? I'll go check and post a screenshot of it.

I so need an easy reference to all this, I'm confusing myself.

Huh? Maybe you're thinking of Dauntless, Ms. Liberty's sidekick. I don't think it's really been stated how he died.

Well then.

We need some things straightened out.

As for the write up, I loved it.

Considering how important Galaxy Girl is to Galaxy City in particular and Paragon City in general, I've always felt she got short shrift with that matchbook-cover-sized origin story on the plaque mounted near her statue. Great to finally learn the whole story about Galaxy Girl. Good work.

Here's a screen of the Eden plaque: screenshot of Galaxy Girl plaque in eden

The Tank badge *does* say World War I, which I thought went counter to the Web of Archnos book, which seems to rule out any 20th century super heroes prior to Statesman. Of couse, the game also references Midnight Squad Activies in the '20's in one arc, I believe. IMO, the backstory is better with a spattering of precursor heroes in the teens and '20's.

There are a few things not consistent with plaques and badges quoted below. Simple enough to fix one way or another. I like the story we have NOW, as opposed to what a plaque describes.

[ QUOTE ]
Kelly Graham never thought she was destined for greatness. That changed one night when she was walking home from her job in the Crey secretarial pool. She came upon an innocent woman being dragged into an alley by some masked men. Kelly called out for help, to no avail. As her fear and anger grew, she launched herself toward the alley. After a blur of flying, energy blasting, and healing light... Galaxy Girl was born.

[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Dauntless was Galaxy Girl's sidekick until he died in battle, defending his mentor with his last breath.

[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
This plaque commemorates the death of Galaxy Girl, who fell in battle with the Rikti. When it became obvious that the heroes would have to fall back, Galaxy Girl insisted that she be the last to retreat. Remaining on the front lines, she used her healing light to save the lives of many of her retreating comrades. Witnesses say that she used her last bit of strength to heal her friend Ms. Liberty, rather than to save herself.

The end of the article made me sad. Such sacrifice! I wish she was my grandma!

I agree that the story on the website is better, but really, these inconsistencies are getting old. We keep getting told about the Huge Story Bible, and yet it seems no one bothers to actually read it before doing anything.

I actually kind of wonder about that... Like, no offense, the story was great, the plaques are great but.... did you forget to read the plaques before writing?
