Manticore founded Wyvern?

Well.. hopefully the Freedom Phalanx don't read the Dev Digest.
Wyvern, oh man they make my MM laugh.
I mean they wear the same brown leather outfits as Manticore, use bows and then there's the attitude and name.. I mean _come on_
My MM feel so damn sorry for these guys. I think she might start running shipments of laser rifles to them, I mean theres something embarasing about slaughtering guys who are bouncing arrows off your combat robots as you sear them under a hail of missiles, laser fire and plasma.
Seriously Manticore, I mean Longbow have "bow" in their _name_ and they're not stupid enough to use them. Someone give these poor schmo's a real weapon.

The Phalanx is either purposefully avoiding putting 1+1 together or they are very dim.
If I teamed up with a rich, crime-fighting, super-archer named after a mythical beast who has a certain vigilante attitude and then all of a sudden a group of super-archers appeared who also were named after a mythical beast and who used similar technology and who shared his attitude it would make me say, "hmm" at the very least. I mean how many super-archers are there anyway?
(By "super-archers" I mean archers who can effectively replace a SWAT team).
If Manty wants to be discreet give them guns. And maybe name them something less obvious, like "Manticore's Super-Agent Team*". *not sponsored or associated with Manticore.

Wyvern is my favorite opposition in CoV. I was hoping they would have been more prominent in the 30s. Any chance we'll see more of them in the 40+ game?

I should have read further before posting. Yeah, I think the Phalanx went into Supering because their SATs weren't so hot...

Maybe they're not even aware of Wyvern itself. Think about it, the Phalanx operates in Paragon, but Wyvern operates in the Rogue Isles. Manticore and Statesman are the only ones who have any interest in the Isles; in the Top Cow comics, Positron, Synapse and Sister Psyche didn't even know who Recluse was. That's probably what Posi meant when he said "the rest of the Phalanx." Numina most likely knows, being a mystic, and Statesman probably knows (but doesn't care), and Citadel is probably oblivious like the other three.
Issue 16 made me feel like this.

Manticore funded Wyvern to do the jobs Longbow couldn't for one reason or another. Wyvern as a whole are not as concerned with political niceties and are focused on results. It is likely that many of their agents share Manticore's attitude toward fighting crime.

Your uh, talkin about yourself in the third person bub. Maybe Manticore should ask Manticore if it's time for a few weeks vacation?

Is that Longbow agent a member of the Freedom Phalanx? Just because Longbow is aware of Wyvern doesn't mean all the heroes of Paragon are.

In the initial stages of training, Longbow operatives are taught how "long" it takes to kill anything with a "bow" thereby drawing their name from the lesson so many heroes in the past have failed to grasp.
Then they are issued laser rifles because they have failed to learn the "stormtrooper" lesson and mindlessly fall to my MaliceMechs.
I strongly suspect those heroes who know enough about Wyvern to make the connection willfully choose to look the other way. Heck, Superman's entire connection to Batman is essentially built on this concept.
Go talk to Brass in Aeon City sometime. It's a more benign, hero-oriented version of 'deniability'. "An uncontrolled group of vigilanties who blatantly ignores the niceties of the legal system in the Rogue Isles? Great Ceasar's Ghost!" *hero looks innocent*
Mind you, I was in the single digit ages when I watched Dukes of Hazzard faithfully, but I sorta remember an episode where they were cops, and refused to carry guns also. (the sequence of Bo returning the gun may have been part of the opening credits)
I have a friend who grabbed them on DvD. Maybe I'll subject myself to them again sometime.
As to the rest of the Phalanx being oblivious.. I can see it. Sister Psyche likely spends most of her day trying to drown out back ground noise, Posi likely spends all his time in the lab, and Synapse keeps himself busy with porn. Beyond that or the "omg, trouble!" alert, I'm guessing these guys rarely even log onto CNN. com.
And Citidel likely knows and figured it out, (cause of his sick access to tons of data) but why would he act on it unless they brought their show to paragon?

The first time I ran across that scenario, it was all male Wyvern teaching all female Longbow. I knew what was really going on there. It was one of the more amusing bits of street theater I'd seen in the game.
I was disappointed to find out later that the implication of fraternization wasn't intentional. After all, there's much testerone but no females in Wyvern--I'd expect the guys would be hitting on anything that moves.
-- Doc Q. / Gideon Krieger
I could actually see that. Longbow guys getting ticked off that the wyvern guys keep stealing their girls.
Havent noticed it in game yet though. I usually skirt that island when i can.

Umm, how does Longbow flout international law? It is a private force, not part of any governement, so isn't bound by most of them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Psst, international law applies to everyone, that's how individuals get charged with war crimes.
People get charged with war crimes because they lost a war. As long as you're on the winning side, you're fine.
