Naw see, Castle has given bad news before. But the thing is that he just tell the unvarnished truth, no BS. I respect that a lot and wish all the devs had the courage to just stop hiding behind spin and tell us what they did and why.

Have they acknowledged that Shadow Maul is broken? I was told it was just broken and to deal with it. I applied this power to a +1 con at level 12. I counted the number of applications vs misses with one acc and one dam slot. 17 total applications, 13 missed. No joke, not making it up. Those are the numbers. The adversary in question was a snake, a Viper Fang I think they are called. missed 13/17 times with an acc slotted.
So, my question is, is that normal? Is this working as intended? Or is it broken after all and I should just ditch the character?

Shadow maul misses a rediculous number of times vs. any enemy that has defense to neg energy attacks - such as most of the CoT and many of the Tsoo. BUT it does ok vs. most other enemies. At least in my experience as a level 29 brute.
Oh, and yeah, Castle is the bomb, but I gotta give mucho props to Cuppa, cause she and I traded a handful of PMs about Roller Coasters - even when I'm SURE she had more important game related stuff to be doing.

I tested it with Headsplitter, Golden Dragonfly, Shadow Maul and Torrent. The bug affected all of those powers, so I told the programmer to check the code for how Cone powers work -- and that is where the bug was.
I will be sooo glad that you fix shadow maul. I have all my attacks double slotted with SO Accuracy and shadow maul still has a really hard time hitting. Especially against CoT and Tsoo. I try and avoid them. the CoT ghosts are the worst.

Who do we have to talk to, to get this man a raise and/or promotion? These are things we screamed about for along time and finally they get fixed. He has gotten some much fixed in a short time. He must be either related to or married to cuppajo. Great minds think alike and they both do great works. I never really noticed my Shadow Maul having bad ACC until last night. Seemed like it never hit. Moving or stationary targets! I could get it to hit if I made it the 3rd move in my chain but not if it was the 1st. Could just be really bad luck.
That coupled with my seeing this thread could be skewing my perception, but I actually stoped using it in one mission cause I was tired of wasting time swinging at air.
Where did this guy Castle come from. One day nothing then the next we have answers to all these questions! Way to get the ball rolling!

Could you also test for whether the range enhancements for cone attacks is increase both the range and the angle of the cone? It feels like range increases in cone powers are increasing the angle and not the range at all. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure melee cone attacks are not even supposed to take cone range enhancers, and are not supposed to increase range. I'm not sure why it "feels" to you like the cone width is increasing; cone range has never worked to increase width on *any* power.

Um, cool. Could you please either explain, or link to a discussion of, what the bug actually is. (I tried searching for "cone" but got a lot of posts, but I cpuldn't find anything that looked applicable)
Are we talking attacks being calculated wrong, resulting in an abnormally high miss rate? Some sort of cone geometry/eligible target bug resulting in too few targets being attacked?
I've been pretty dissapointed in eviscerate as anything other than a (mediocre) single target attack, and I pretty much lost hope when you previously posted about the arc being wide enough. So if this bugfix makes it more usefull, I apologize for the angry post I hadn't gotten around to making yet.

That's correct for melee cone not accepting cone enhancers.
Cone enhancement effect has been changed recently width and range I believe from the same enhancer.

Not quite accurate. "Increase Range" enhancers now boost both single-target range and cone range; however, this still does not change the width (degrees of arc) of the cone, just the distance to the edge.
From the 8/31/05 Patch Notes:

Basically, this means that a cone power that used to do this:

It will be 'wider' side-to-side at the end of the cone, but that's just a function of the increased range. The actual width of the cone (as generally measured, in degrees) did not change.

I am in the same boat here. I hid with Shadow Maul plenty. I've also seen my wife hit with her ranged cone attack. I have never seen cone attacks always miss yet in all my gaming sessions.

Can you expand a little on the bug and what it could affect? I am having a serious problem with Twlight Grasp missing as well as alot of instances where no miss is recorded but no healing is done.
I have my Twilight Grasp double slotted with DO Accuracies.
Is it possible this is related to the Cone AoE problem?

When it's fixed, how will it make our lives better? Will we attack more targets? Miss less often? I'm not trying to pester, just trying to get a handle on how the attacks are (mis)behaving.
I thought it was simply a bug that made you always miss a moving target. So I started only using Shadow Maul when the guy wasn't moving. It still missed with alarming frequency.
Really annoying but not as bad as the disorient bug, atleast for me.

Did you guys test out spines as well, Castle? I seem to miss way more than i should with ripper. I'm only 31 so I don't know how TS is doing on acc, but ripper seems to be horrid atm.
