Ha, ha, ha. Oh, man that was great, truly a signature-worthy comment there. (It has the ring of a cliche about it, but it's new to me.)

I can't take credit for it. I saw it on a t-shirt. I just though it was worth repeating. ;p

Now...what about PENNY PRESTON!?! Will that freaky little kid be in the comic?

[/ QUOTE ]

There is a chance we might have i4 before the comic is released - there will be tons of freaky little kids running around by then - i myself have plans for at least 2 - poor Penny will loose her status as the only child character in Paragon - but she can still claim she was the first.

There are children NPCs on the test server?

Due to the upcoming Power Sets Manticore is actually a Trick Arrow, Archery Defender. Also, his arch-enemy is called Protean, not Doppleganger.

[/ QUOTE ]

Two things:

1) Is it possible that the archery power is actually going to be applied to more than one AT? Or, could it be that, as a blaster powerset, it will get a def. sec? Weird if it was just a defender power.

2) Is the change from Doppleganger to Protean the last of the 5th Column removal work, or are there parts that you missed?

Hmm, those look like the Charlton Comics Blue Beetle Issues in that pic. Kudos & cookies for anyone who can tell me how many Blue Beetles there were & who originally created the Scarab.

[/ QUOTE ]

Those are, actually, the DC Blue Beetle comics he's holding. As to your questions:

There's the ancient Blue Beetle (though I don't know if that is what he called himself) who made use of the azure scarab to aide Prince Khufu as the ancient Hawkman.

Then there was Dan Garret, the original Blue Beetle from Charlton Comics, who used the power of the scarab to fight crime (although this origin was re-written, since he originally gained his super powers through a vitamin called "2X"). After his death, he passed the title of Blue Beetle onto his student, Ted Kord, who fought crime with technology, martial arts, and crude detective skills since Dan's scarab had been destroyed after both Ted and Dan deemed its power evil. How it returned, and why, is a complete mystery to me. And why Ted started with how he "couldn't get the thing to work" is probably a huge oversight on the DC editorial staff.

Now, as for the scarab itself: it was, originally, an alien being composed of pure energy that the wizard of Shazam had trapped inside a beetle. Hence why it's influence was considered evil by both Dan and Ted.

[ QUOTE ]
Double bonus: name a few of the most popular other Charlton Heroes, the shortest-lived one by the most famous artist AND the most obscure one.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, aside from Blue Beetle, DC also acquired the characters Captain Atom, The Question, and Thunderbolt. The Question is probably the one you're thinking was created by the most famous artist since Steve Ditko helped create him. And, in my eyes, he's also the most obscure (detective-style hero with no face?).

[ QUOTE ]
I've been reading comics probably longer than most of you have been alive...

[/ QUOTE ]

That, obviously, does not matter.

[ QUOTE ]
As the game grows I will continue to try and clarify things that have been contradictory or confusing.

To do this, you should probably consider giving Gilgamesh the task for recording character history on the site itself with more accurate information.

Two, why did your arch-nemesis' name change?

Three, thanks for the updates.

No but tons of children PCs have been spotted, NPC was not specified, just only current child character at all, and with the new zones in the future she might not be the only Child NPC either, we just have to wait and see

[/ QUOTE ]

The 1st actual Blue Beetle, Dan Garret, was not a Charlton character, he was a Fox Features Syndicate character with a newspaper strip & a radio show. He had a sidekick named Sparky, readily shot criminals without hesitation or remorse, & gained superpowers at random during one stretch. The copyright was purchased by Charlton, then later DC.

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]

That has also changed. The Scarab is now said to have been created by Nabu (Dr. Fate) during his time in ancient Egypt. This is apparently to tie in with the rewriting of the origin because neither the "pure energy alien parasite thing" doesn't fit into a mystic Scarab origin story any better than the "Vitamin 2-X pill thing" did.

Was asking for the most popular heroes when they were still with Charlton, NOT just the ones DC acquired. The most read heroes were:
The Question
Peacemaker
Judomaster
Captain Atom
Nightshade
The Ghost
Blue Beetle
E-Man

The most obscure & shortest-lived Charlton hero created by Ditka was a promising one called Killjoy, an apparently indestructible mute who only appeared twice, in the back of 2 issues of E-Man. He was reminiscent of The Creeper & Shade, The Changing Man & for some strange reason was interesting as hell. Good stuff IMO, readers loved it, editors hated it, buh bye Killjoy.

Just a fact Jack, it wasn't intended to garner one of your patented tardiot retorts. You couldn't just (incorrectly) answer the damn trivia questions, you simply had to insist upon proving what a burro you are, didn't you? Well mission accomplished, GJ! You should be proud.

Greetings,
I wanted to take the chance to correct a few things that have changed since this article came out over a year ago. As the game grows I will continue to try and clarify things that have been contradictory or confusing.

Due to the upcoming Power Sets Manticore is actually a Trick Arrow, Archery Defender.

I hope this helps.

Cheers.

This post got me thinking

We all know that Archery is wanted for a Blaster primary

But, since Trick Arrow is going to be a defender primary, what are the chances of Controllers getting this as a secondary?
*imagines Fire/TA, Ill/TA, Mind/TA, etc*

Sorry if this was brought in up another post...

In the ensuing titanic battle, 800 of 1000 heroes died, along with some 50,000 Rikti soldiers.

[/ QUOTE ]

What is less well known is that of the 1,000 heroes in Alpha Team, 189 of them were */regen scrappers, of whom 166 surivived the battle.

*drumroll*

[/ QUOTE ]

So. . . 166 guys that got Revive at 49 cause they say nothing better. Why do I think the other 34 were /DA and Fire/ tanks?

*rimshot*

[/ QUOTE ]

It stands to reason, then, that those fire tanks collectively herded 48,000 of the Rikti soldiers and nuked them in a giant dumpster. The resulting PL explosion leveled the surviving Alpha Teamers way beyond the mission level and they finally repelled the invasion!

How else do you think the Surviving Eight got where they are today?

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, it was the complete run of the DC series. I only have one issue of the Charleton Silver-Age series.

There were three Blue Beetles. The first two where both named Dan Garrette, but were NOT the same person. The Golden Age Beetle was a cop who [censored] blue chain-mail and took the experimental vitamin 2-X. The second Ted’s predecessor, who was The Scarab. As for who “originally” created the Scarab, that’s three questions. If you’re talking about the writer, you got me. I actually pay very little attention to creative teams. If you mean how was the Scarab created when its origin was first told, it was an ancient Egyptian artifact found on the sarcophagus of Khaf-Ef-Re. In the current continuity, it was revealed in the DC BB series that it was a sentient being, somewhat similar to venom, that brought poor Dan Garrette II back to life, and tried to posses Ted.

As for other Charlton Heroes, I remember Night Shade, The Question, Captain Atom, The Peace Makers, General Steel, and Judo Master.

Ghost Falcon is the Praetorian version of Invisible Falcon from our world. (SPOILERS) In our world Invisible Falcon investigated Crey and wound up dead. In the Praetorian Dimension, the evil Ghost Falcon was kidnapped by the alternate reality Countess (who's a freedom fighter) and turned to good)

Serafina is the contact in Bricks. She's a powerful Genie who can help you.

[/ QUOTE ]

... can help you and wears a really skimpy costume. just saying.

As for Countess and Ghost Falcon, cool. That makes two couples where the woman converts the bad guy into a good guy (Malaise & Sister Psyche)... too bad we can't ever do that in real life!

How about a task force where the Praetorian Count stands around talking you into defeating Ghost Falcon cause he went bad again while Praetorian Countess was in a coma?

Right now, scrappers and blasters have the powersets that best fit the natural origin: swords for scrappers (katana/broadsword)/ super reflexes, and the assault rifle/devices sets for blasters. Tankers get some very natural secondaries (axe and mace) but their primaries, all defender primaries and secondaries, and all controller primaries and secondaries seem kinda non-natural.

You can (and I have) stretch natural origins to cover every AT, by going beyond the normal human concept of natural and saying that some humans naturally have psychic powers (which gives you mind control, empathy, psychic blast, and possibly also illusion control and force fields and invulnerability); you can get it to cover every powerset by saying natural applies to natural mythical or natural alien creatures. For example I saw a natural origin yeti ice/storm controller; the same concept would work for an ice blaster or ice tank.

So maybe archery is going to defenders to give them a more purely natural alternative. Course they could've just made a defender version of AR. What about a controller version of devices? (web grenade, sticky web grenade, massive web grenade, stun grenade, group cloaking device, decoy chaff, group targeting drone, independent battle drone - kinda like illusion control really but with one invis instead of 2, 2 immobilizes like all the other controller sets, and a tactics-like insta buff instead of a toggle. decoy chaff is kinda like a single decoy, looks more like a dark fluffy, but acts like a phase shifted agro getter, shorter duration and recharge, just the one, doesn't attack. Battle drone would be kinda like a phantom/singularity cross - not healable but buffable, a couple of knockback-y blasts with decent damage, and a hold (sticky web grenade) that it throws randomly, and maybe a repel. Should look like a robotic thing (maybe auto turret graphic?) Sticky web grenade is a single target hold, stun grenade is a targeted aoe disorient. (so you'd have that one two aoe hold like combo of stun grenade and massive web grenade which is an aoe immobilize, like fire controllers combining fire cages with flashfire.) No regular aoe hold.

This proposed controller primary should work well with trick arrows secondary for the extreme natural controller

Go to Talos, find a Tsoo boss called Copper Serpent and attract his aggro. Now that is all natural.

This is one of those things that bug me to no end. People automaticaly assume that to be natrual you need to be an assult rifle blaster, ax tanker, Broadsword Scrapper, etc. Natural doesn't mean you have no super powers, what it means is you earned them. They weren't part of your DNA, you weren't experimented on, you don't preform magic rituals, you don't have gears in your head. You practiced and trained yourself beyond what a normal human is capple of. from using fire blast by focusing all your mind on cause the fire to being covered in spines because you mastered a style of martial arts.

/rant off

Sorry, but I get angry ever time I see a post about this.

What the heck kind of martial art teaches you to GROW EXTRA BONE?

It just doesn't work that way. If you're BORN with the ability? Mutant (unless you're an alien and all your people have it). If something GAVE you the ability? Science/tech/magic (depending on what gave you the ability). But it's a physical impossibility for a normal, unenhanced human to quickly grow bones at will. It just doesn't work that way.

I think that, even WITH the myriad of explanations that defy actual reality (Gamma-ray effects, etc.), people like to have SOME modicrum of reality.
