The Kudos Thread
Thanks Cryptic for giving me something that takes up a lot of my very limited time! CoH is the best mmog I've ever played!

Alright, so now that we've got five pages, who's gonna go e-mail the Warcry people with the message "Five pages, [insert expletive of choice here]!"
[/ QUOTE ]
"The longest threads are the complaints. Find me one over 5 pages with a "thank you" for fixing a bugged mission while the players were still on-line." - Glow Girl of WarCry
The whole point of the article was to motivate forum users to say thanks to a responsive dev team and to look past their own interests.
So some sack of crap comes on here, collects 5 pages of thank yous with the motivation to prove someone else wrong (based on their lame-o interpretation of an article they obviously either didn't read or didn't understand) and is followed by yet another sack of crap who wants people to send comments to Glow Girl containing curse words.
Well, Merry Friggin Christmas to you, too, [censored].

And this response is any different from the last ones how? Im sorry but if this isnt the pot calling the kettle black I dont know what is. Thanks for not letting this thread degrade into name calling and troll baiting.
Im not defending them, because I agree they are wrong, however you dont come off sounding any better than those you are condeming.

All true. I am using the only method they seem capable of understanding.
If no one else will descend to their level to defend a damn fine article, guess I have to. I'm not too proud to name call when the name fits.
So Pilcrow is a sack of crap because he wanted to prove that a Thank You thread can go longer than five pages.
Yeah, okay.
Nahh, Pilcrow isn't. There was a fellow who, at 5 pages, was satisfied to pop it along to Warcry. It wasn't the point though, that's the issue at hand. THe point isnt' to prove Warcry wrong... well it is, partly. But partly again is to show the Devs our appreciation, because Warcry did raise a valid point.

Point taken.
I agree that it was an excellant article. I applaud your defending it, if not the exact methods.
I realize that 'proving someone wrong' isn't exactly the best justification for what is trying to be accomplished here. However, can you deny the fact that for the most part this was a pretty decent thread? A few butt-heads here and there aside, what would stooping to their level accomplish? I dont want to get into the morality of ignoring vs. provoking, but inflammatory responses only attract more inflammatory responses.
Glow Girl's article was very eye-opening and very much needed. Let's not blemish it with even more unnecessary flames. Defend it to the end I'll even back you, but lets stay above the trolls. It's much nicer on top of the bridge.

Well if he didn't mean Pilcrow, then shame on me.
For me, this thread just topped 5 pages. I guess I keep forgetting about my settings.
Ok, Ok...back to the kudos.
I just want to give my kudos to them, for being the first ever MMO to make me want to play, and keeps me staying around for each and every new update to come down the pipe, and waiting with baited breath for the next ones.
States, Cuppajo, Geko and company...you guys really do ROCK!!!! I cannot being to heap upon you the praises that you so richly deserve, but I'm sure that with every thank you, it fills your cup of humility and pride to overflowing, so drink up gang.
To the GM's, who's tireless aid to those of us who have experienced problems in game i send kudos to you as well..there has not been one instance where when I put a /petition out there that it has not been promptly answered and problem corrected on the spot. Kudos again to you all.
So, to all of you at NCSoft/Cryptic....THANK YOU!!!!!!!
And a belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all, denizens of Paragon City (you know who you are!)
With one week under my tights, I have nothing but compliments for the CoH dev's, staff, and all other personnel who came together to make an enjoyable experience. So it isn't really difficult to generate 5 pgs. of thank you's to those people. Here's a few:
Art & Design: Awesome. I occasionally stop gliding down a street just to admire the view. The costumes will be part of game history; I have yet to see a genuinely ugly combination. Yes, I actually took time to read the bulletin board in the tram stations. Rock and Roll, people! RockandRoll.
Character Development: Wow, I don't envy you guys. (No, actually we all do. I and every one of the complainers would drop everything including their pants to get a shot at your positions.) I have only one character, a blaster, but I have come to appreciate most of the characters with whom I come into contact. I can tell that the idea of assembling a team of superheroes was an important part of the development. Each of the characters seem to be well-balanced and enhanced when assembled in a team. That alone must have taken months. Jolly good show!
Writers: Busy much? This game has a lot of text. I feel bad scanning through the windows because I can't imagine writing that much background material, NPC info, weapons, and enhancements. (Tented hands) "Excellent"
Music: Mr. Henry, very cool. More please?
Programming: Since I know very little about programming my praise may be shallow but true. Good job all.
QA & Testing : I wouldn't forget you. I know the reason why this game is so tight and seamless is because of 1) a good programming team, and 2) many, many hours of QA & Testing. Capital work, ladies and gents.
Executives & Management: Well, Im sure you're too busy cackling over the piles of cash they keep dumping on to your yachts to read this, so maybe someone will let you know that the price of the game was well worth it. I think you put together a great game crew and I hope you are rewarding them justly. Excelsior!
Sound: Holy Harmonics Fledermausmensch! Very smooth. I appreciate the programmers who figured out how to keep the music playing smoothly on the tram transition load screens. CoH has a nice mix of SFX, from the '50's scifi movie inspired whooshes to the crackalating electricity blasts. And the Oscar goes to...

My urge to make sure people take a moment to thank the devs for the good job they do preceded Glow Girl's article. Here's proof!
Before you go around calling people names and assuming you undedrstand their motives you should take two minutes to use the search feature.
Even if you hadn't searched, this post within this thread should have demonstrated to anyone who was paying attention that the motive is not to "prove glow girl wrong" but to actually show the devs the appreciation they deserve.
It's sad that this board is so poisonous that people feel a need to troll a thread like this one. You're right that there should be no "in your face" to glow girl, but to spew this kind of bile while you do so is beyond the pale.
MisterMighty, I'm gonna assume you had a bad day. I've found that some of the best people on these boards express their feelings strongly and therefore we wind up in conflict sometimes. Heck, zzMdude and I just had a slugfest a week ago and since then we've defended each other in two separate threads. Strong feelings are good, it means CoH means something to you. I hope next time we meet you can channel them more positively.
So devs, thanks for making a game that matters to people so much they can get this worked up over it.
Mine is a Kudos, but in an evil way...
Devs:
I curse you for bringing my comic book heroes to life
I curse you for making it such a great MMO gamw
I curse you that there are only 24 hours in a day(well maybe not you fault)
I curse you that there is fun and excitement throughout the supers life
I curse you for keeping things up to date and running well.

Thanks !

Couldn't have said it better myself, so I quote!
One of my alts is rapidly becoming my main (parked my DA scrapper, more because scrapping isn't my best playstyle), and I got to do the Lou's Garage clockwork mission for the first time since issue 2 came out today.
I'd heard about the new "dressing" of the old missions on the boards, but it's nothing like the experience. The garage has racks of tires, beat-up old cars, large red toolchests, even a checkered flag styled pattern on the floors. It was IMMERSIVE and ATTRACTIVE and SUPRISING and GREAT.
Kudos for so many things there. For the artwork. For the new "grafitti" technology (that I suspect was leveraged). For taking the time to improve low-level content.
Wow. Just WOW. That was the best "new" thing I've experienced since FrostFire, and it wasn't even new.
I can't believe no one's brought this up in -- what is it now? Seven pages? Eight? But badges. I *love* the badges. Every single one of my characters, from the lowest of the low (level one! I can get a badge at level one!) to the highest of the high (level 26), has all the badges they can get.
But it's not just the exploration badges -- though those are cool. It's not just the achievement badges, nor the accomplishment ones, though those are nice. And it's not even the history badges, which are an amazing look into the history of Paragon City. No, it's the *seeking out*, the quest for that brilliant yellow-on-white text flashing into existence to announce that you have found another badge!
I love it. I can't get enough of it. All my characters have all the exploration badges they can get to (and they tear apart the hazard zones as soon as they get access). Debt? Debt is a tool to get more badges! So what if I have to jump into the middle of +10s to get that exploration badge/history plaque/whathaveyou? It's a suicide mission with a *purpose*! And if I somehow escape alive, that makes the badge all that much more shiny -- with the addition of a neat story to tell the admirers of my collection.
I think the devs did such a good job on badges that I can't wait for the Super-Secret-Out-Of-Combat-System. Would it be possible to "specialize" in *all* the avenues of SSOOCS? I've got the time! Let me at 'em!
Thanks for all the great stuff you do to make this game so great; if I tried to list them all in detail, I could write a novel. The fast-paced combat, the epic battles (the first time I went through the respec trial was a *blast*), the costume creator, the playerbase attracted to this sort of genre -- it's all fantastic. The down-trodden look of King's Row, the high-rises of Steel Canyon, the Venice-like feel of Founder's Falls, the caverns of Orenbanga -- all have their own distinct look, and it's great that you're making them even more unique. The Fifth Column, the Hellions, the Skulls, the Freakshow, the Crey, the Malta, and so many more -- villain groups that we've all grown to love to hate, each with their own intricate backstories and agendas that we strive to thrwart every day.
When all is said and done -- we love the work you guys do. If some of us seem to complain a bit much about changes coming down the pipe, it's because we've given time and a bit of our heart into the characters you allow us to create. But you've done great work so far in allowing childhood dreams to come (virtually) alive ... keep it up!

Thank you for your prompt responses, GMs. You're always quick to respond either through in-game messages or external emails. You explain the situation when necessary, and do what you can to help us when we're having techical issues.
I agree this game rawks!!! Its my favorite thing to do these days. I am neglecting all other games big time.
I tried WoW and came back to this within 36 hours. And I REALLY wanted to like that game because I am a big blizzard fan. You guys are pros and made a fantastic product and just keep on improving it.
I think you should take all this criticism as a compliment. People only complain so strongly when they really care about something.
I want to thank everyone responsible for making city of heroes the great game that it is. Its full of memerable aspects, to many to list.
But I will mention one which is probally pretty old to most.
Despite getting the game on launch day, I've progressed at a slow rate due to being a somewhat causual gamer. So it wasn't until recently that I got a look at dark astroia. The area design there is just wonderful. All the ghost like figures in the backround the disapear when you approch them, the fog that limits your line of sight, the hordes of zombies. It has quite some atmosphere and is quite creepy. Of course its partly so creepy because I was there on a kill x banished pantheon mission, and I was solo and to stubbern to find a group, so my strategy was to sneak around and pick of enemies that seperated themselves from their group. Basically a game of cat and mouse where its a litte ambigious who's really the cat and who's really the mouse.

As I stated in my PM, Pilcrow, I do indeed apologize for labeling you a sack of crap. I was defending a friend and fellow SG member and you got in the way.
I stand by my comments to the other sack of crap.
I do see this thread as a good sign but I will beat down with a mighty club anyone who proposes expletives be sent my buddy's way. I don't mask my outrage behind mock politeness and I'm not about to start.
Mr. Pilcrow here said he hoped I was mature enough to apologize. Had that line been left from a very calm and reasoned PM this apology would sound much less forced.
Nice avatar Pilcrow.

Stop saying SSOCS. It's not super-secret anymore. Call it the OCS or Skills.
Thank you developers for announcements.
Thank you for entertaining me for more hours than any other game on the planet ever has, and probably ever will.
Thanks to the Developers for creating a MMO I could play and live with. I can say I have never been so enthusiastic about a game like I am with this one.
Thanks for the online Gm's who always respond to every dumb question I bring up, and even take the time to help me find the straggling badguy on a mission map.
Thanks for making Tanks just like they are.. and making it so we always startle other AT's when they arent dying anymore thanks to our Tank-ability.
This game rocks, I am in love
