  1. I'm just happy that Issue 16 is in Closed Beta, and if I was to get an invite it would be great but not necessary to the continuation of life. Just wanted to send a congrats to all of those who got the call to test (Lucky Bastiches) and hope that they make sure that I16 is a entertaining funfest for all.
  2. Yeah, verily, yeah. A good patch, EX. I wholeheartedly agree with limiting Trial Accounts, as they are most likely just playing the game for free and not intending to join anyways, so limiting what they can do in game is a reasonable thing to do and when they do upgrade to a full account then they can have access to the full game.

Good job to all who worked on the patch.
  3. Ooooh, I feel lightheaded and giddy. I12 and additional character slots together? This is too much goodness for one release but I'll be brave and handle this much lovely sticky sweet update excellence like a man (or maybe at least like a hamster on 'roids ).
  4. Here how my vote went:

    A) Street Fighting. The potential for some awesome moves and styles is there in that power set. I'm thinking either moves reminiscent of the WWE or Street Fighter video games.

    B) Psionic Weaponry. The ability to tap into the psionic potential and manifest it as a weapon could lend itself to either shaping the energy into a variety of martial weapons (think shurikens or psionic bo staff for the staff fans out there) or maybe even attacks that bypass physical defenses for a bonus to punches or kicks.

    C) Density Control. Lends itself to any number of defensive abilities, from increasing ones molecular density (ala Vision) to deflect physical attacks to decreasing density to allow energy attacks to pass through. Those are just two off the top of my head.

    D) Vibration. I see being similar to defender/controller sonic resonance, but limited to the tanker/scrapper's individual defense.

I can't wait to see whatever comes as a result of this voting in a future issue.
  5. Kudos to you, oh mighty Statesman. Those changes will help gameplay and I look forward to them being implemented on the Test Server as soon as they are ready.

I do feel, however, that there is a small problem with mission reward xp. I occassionally get invited to team with someone who is in the middle or close to the end of a mission and when it is all over, I don't get mission xp/infl at the end because I wasn't there long enough. I know that it is a small problem, and problem done to prevent PL'ing by having friends do the grunt work and then you come in at the end and claim a reward for finishing a misison that you didn't really work for in the first place. But, as I do play primarily a Tank most of the time, and I'm usually called in when the last mission is a room full of Freakshow/Council/DE's, etc., and I have to bear the brunt of their aggro, I personally feel that a small mission reward would be nice, not a huge bonus but something that says thank you for helping out and pulling your weight. I know that we do get xp for the enemies that get taken down, but when I get an invite and don't know what the situation is beforehand, I jump into the mission and then its over before I know it and I don't earn any kind of reward for helping out, filling in that much needed tank position the team needed. I occasionally, when I remember to, give some influence to folks that didn't get any reward xp, even if it wasn't my mission, because I feel that they have helped out, even if it was brief.

But, that's all on that subject. On a off-topic subject however, you, CuppaJo and the others need to tell us about your E3 experience this year, and I want all the details. And I want to know about the rumors about you, Lord Recluse and Manticore dancing on the bar in your smashing tights and with matching lampshades to boot --
  6. OMG...WOW...HOLY SH*&...I JUST WET MYSELF

That was awesome. And it was only the first ten pages. I can't wait for the other 20 or so pages to see what happens next. Excellent artwork, good narrative (way to go, Manticore,) and the action resembles alot of what I usually encounter in Paragon City...massive numbers of heroes fighting villiany in the streets.

I can't wait for it to come out. Congrats to Mr. Waid and the rest of the creative team.

    XP and I5

    [ QUOTE ]
Couple of changes we're making in I5:

    1) Instead of the first five levels being debt free, the first TEN levels will be debt free.

    2) XP debt will be halved on mission maps (that includes outdoor mission maps, too).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, States...you've outdone yourself again. I like the extension to the debt-free missions to Level 10, especially because of the early mission in the Hollows, which can sometimes cost you xp debt up the whazoo if you're not careful.

And the debt reduction for missions is a definite plus, as that removes a definite liability when having to deal with elite and AV's in certain missions.

    Thanks again, States...

    Defense nerf

Thank you, Geko. You have leapt into the fray and helped all understand the mechanics of the game yet again. Your superability to sense confusion is commendable.

    Rock on, Geko...Rock on.
  9. Greetings, RadJad56.

I understand your frustration with all of the PL'd players during the WL event. I have been spending alot of time training them myself, and their inexperience does show.

I don't believe that the devs are responsible for the problems caused by so many inexperienced players leveling up too fast, it is the responsibility of the players themselves. If they are dead set on PL'ing their way as high as they can go, then it is their responsibility to learn how to play their AT's properly.

The fact of the matter is that some people don't really know how to play in a MMO environment...they play as if they are still in a single player RPG environment, and their ability to cooperatively play, sans any hacks or cheats, is sorely lacking. The ability to get all the powers thru cheating or PL'ing without really understanding the mechanics behind using them properly is like putting a civilian in the middle of a war, armed to the teeth, and expecting him to understand the idea of military tactics and strategy.

Peeps have been doing this since launch, either through PL'ing or sheer luck, getting high level characters and then doing completely ignorant or irresponsible things, such as aggro'ing a room full of Tsoo Green Ink Men while half the party is AFK, or other similiar random acts of lunacy.

Yes, I agree that the WL event really highlighted an issue; the fact that when such an event is allowed to go on too long, there is bound to be a unbalanced number of players who's experience has yet to catch up with their high level AT. The Holloween event had a similiar effect, but since it didn't last as long, the effects were not seen in the larger picture of the gameplay.

I think that they (the devs) worked really hard on making this event one to remember. The downside was that so many people saw it as an opportunity to PL their AT's without regard for how their inexperience was going to affect others.

We just need to use our experiences to make sure that the inexperiences of others don't put us in situtations that might result in our incurring debt. Debt is easy enough to deal with....it is the players who feel that PL'ing without learning their powers and the tactics behind them that is the real prob.

So, try and send a PM to the devs or even create a thread here, and ask them if they could, with future events, to tailor them so that it is an enjoyable event, but not one that invites the inexperienced player to progress too fast and then leaves it up to us to nursemaid them through this high learning curve.

    The Kudos Thread

    Ok, Ok...back to the kudos.

I just want to give my kudos to them, for being the first ever MMO to make me want to play, and keeps me staying around for each and every new update to come down the pipe, and waiting with baited breath for the next ones.

States, Cuppajo, Geko and company...you guys really do ROCK!!!! I cannot being to heap upon you the praises that you so richly deserve, but I'm sure that with every thank you, it fills your cup of humility and pride to overflowing, so drink up gang.

To the GM's, who's tireless aid to those of us who have experienced problems in game i send kudos to you as well..there has not been one instance where when I put a /petition out there that it has not been promptly answered and problem corrected on the spot. Kudos again to you all.

So, to all of you at NCSoft/Cryptic....THANK YOU!!!!!!!

And a belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all, denizens of Paragon City (you know who you are!)
  11. States, you rock. So, the way I understand it, the problems with the kheldian archetype is that they have higher hit points, but are weighed down by their damage and resistance debuffs and to have to wait until they team up with three or more players to see the debuffs wiped out.

So I can see the adjustments that you are making could go a long way towards balancing the archetype, and making it a better epic archetype worthy of our playing when it goes live.

Keep up the good job and I am looking forward to issue 3 going live soon.

P.S., If you would like help testing the Peacebringers or Warshades, I would gladly volunteer my characters on test to help out (wink, wink...nudge, nudge...say no more )
