  1. I would go with the first build, if I had to pick between the 2, I like the mu synergy better...and with Fade running and ShadowFall, I think Scorpion Shield from Mace is a bit much...you can better take a power that does some debuff or damage instead...at least with mu you took another pet, so you'll have the pseudo mastermind thing working for you...

I never said it always made sense...I just said that was how I rationalized it...and you are making the same argument I would for not all sets needing a taunt aura.

    Nihili:

I am not going to argue about the purpose of the game and get off on a tangent. But, Artificial Intelligence as defined by Dictionary.com is the following:

    artificial intelligence

    noun
the capacity of a computer to perform operations analogous to learning and decision making in humans, as by an expert system, a program for CAD or CAM, or a program for the perception and recognition of shapes in computer vision systems. Abbreviation: AI, A.I.

Now, artificial intelligence in this game, being an attempt to resemble humans realistically within reason, dictates they would run. Gamers want to watch them stand there like cows in a stock pen and burn. I can understand that entirely...however, making them less human and more stupid is not adjusting AI...it's altering the reaction of the NPC. AI is the decision making of the NPC's in game...but if the NPC is not making a decision just reacting to stimuli...it's not AI. For example, even pets in this game do not have a "real" AI per se. They are solely reacting to stimuli in game, not making a decision for themselves as to what reaction to make, it's all hardcoded. Defensive/Aggressive or Follow/Stay. Those are simple 1's and 0's...off or on...not a complex assimilation of data to dictate a decision.
  3. you can farm with lots of things...spines/fire...spines/dark...do what makes you happy man. Top tier recommendation is SS/Fire brute...but you don't have to do that to be a good farmer.

Out of curiosity. If it is THE lynchpin of the set. How am I supposed to get to level 38 without it?
It will be a long, slow but steady grind fighting mostly even con baddies...seriously...unless you PL...getting a stone armor toon to Granite is ridiculous. That's why you see mostly tanks do it, and rarely brutes...Tanks get Granite at 32 because it is their primary set...brutes wait until 38 because it's their secondary...there's reasoning behind that buddy. You see many stone brutes running around all the time? I sure don't...Stone Melee...some...Stone Armor...nope. Brutes want damage...and stone armor is a VERY hard set to make work if you want lots of damage AND the survivability it gives. You can do it all you want. If you want to play stone armor on a brute...kudos to you. If you want to play stone armor on a brute and skip Granite Armor...well...you can go sell crazy somewhere else...

So you're saying adjust the minions not to run when they're being killed, like real people would? Errr....somehow that logic fails. AI is to make them seem more human...just saying. Taunt Aura I attribute to presence, some people just have a powerful presence that incites others to be aggressive toward them...(think 6'5 300 lb. bald ex-con with both arms full of tattoos and chiseled out of stone from 20 years in the penitentiary doing nothing but lift weights...i.e. everyone feels challenged).

But, not every set needs a Taunt aura, that I can agree with...
  6. I am only emphasizing what has been said already for the most part...but...

Taking Stone Armor and not taking Granite Armor, is something akin to running Regeneration and not taking integration and/or fast healing. You are talking about forsaking the linch pin of the power set for looks. I can get behind a concept character...and I understand you want a very specific look...but Granite Armor is not a reason to take Stone Armor...it is the reason to take stone armor.

Based on what you're wanting to accomplish...the penalties are so high to get the right look from the powerset you're playing...this concept should maybe sit on the vine and ripen a bit longer. Maybe a powerset will come out with the right look later that will more closely fit your desired aesthetics and your desired result.

I know many people who have built 2 builds for their stone tanks...but keep in mind that's investing 2 toons worth of influence on 1 toon because you don't share the IOs between builds. That would solve your aesthetics and function issue, however, if it were me personally...I might wait and play that concept card later when I have something that better suits it. Stone armor is not a friendly set to play if you're not as hard as granite and, you better possess some very mighty MIDS build-fu skills. Otherwise your end result might likely be something you're not inclined to enjoy. Especially if you're talking about iTrials on this toon...

I have seen Stone tanks in Granite Armor get dropped by mobs throwing rocks in a TPN iTrial...seriously...without Granite...how well do you think you'd fare?
  7. Invuln has drastically superior survivability to all but psionics and is easily softcapped to S/L/E/N/F/C without having to go too expensive with IOs. On SOs you couldn't softcap all the defenses really, but the resists would still be there.
  8. To the OP:

Ok, in short, what kind of layers of mitigation do you want??

EA is a defense set with mild resists...but it only has mild DDR too...especially for defensive sets. Are you planning to tank? Are you going to be an all out assault machine? What is your goal?

WP is a moderate resist set with mild defense...

Resist sets typically have better maximum potential than defensive sets for high end builds. Why? Because defensive sets can only get so much defense that matters, beyond that more is just...more...it serves no purpose. Resist sets can easily get defense from set bonuses and better layer their mitigation...so that even if your defense is debuffed to the floor...if you have 70% S/L resists you still mitigate 70% of that type of incoming damage (not that WP has those numbers specifically just an example...). That layered mitigation means your odds of survival are outright better than if you had just one or the other. Ask any guy who plays SR...the best defense set in the game...how it does with alpha strikes. They'll tell you that it needs resists or you get faceplanted into a quick dirt nap. I know...they can do amazing things...just don't get hit...or Regen...one of my favorites...you have to build up the defense and resists for that set to maximize it's survivability...but it's insane when built well and played right.

In short, it's easy to add defense...it's very difficult to add resists. What do you want to play? More sturdy? Less sturdy? More flexible build? Less flexible build? Those things dictate your answer for you essentially. EA and WP may not even be the set you want...you might end up with Dark Armor or who knows what.
  9. Probably roll something I haven't played in a long time with Bio Armor...

Like say...Elec Melee...or...Dual Blades...Actually now that I am thinking, I believe it will be Dual Blades...that might be interesting...
  10. Why on earth is there an end redux IO in OG? that power is a true one slot wonder...one level 50 accuracy IO and you're good. Too many slots eaten up are hurting you there...

Take our 3 new found slots...add 1 to cloak of darkness and put 3 LotG in there...add 1 to weave and do the same...combat jumping I would run just 1 or 2 LotG, but you need recharge for TW like crazy and End too...

Argh...ok...so here is how you softcap it (to positions)...make sure defensive sweep is on...and incarnates and accolades, as you will need them all. You cannot be lazy with 2 end intensive sets, you must get the accolades...

If you want more end recovery run ageless destiny...

BTW...this is nowhere near the vicinity of a budget build...this is into the billions pretty easy.

    Highlights:
    11 pts KB protection
+/-1.8 net End recovery with all toggles
positional defenses above or right at softcap to all positions
70% S/L Resists (before tanker ATO proc)
    81% Psi Resists ( " ")
    63% Neg resists ( " ")
Some typed defenses are over Softcap as well...namely S/E/N/F/C (lethal and psionic are not)
    127.5% global recharge running hasten.
    2558 Max HP
    119 Max End
Hasten is +/- 11 secs from perma

  11. Incarnate softcap is 59% if you plan mostly to iTrial, that's your primary concern, some passive resists will obviously help you, but as a defensive set, you want Defense in spades, I would recommend agility alpha if you had not already considered it, as it boosts, endurance modification, recharge, and defense, those are all things you will want more of...
  12. No Hecatomb proc in MG? I would replace the damage piece with the proc...you will find it far more beneficial to your DPS. Same with Armageddon in Soul Drain.
  13. on Kat/SR, divine avalanche helps early, but I would respec out of it later as it's superfluous past the low-mid 30's. That combo can dish damage like crazy and do plenty of crazy scrapper tricks. Lots of fun. Claws/SR is also a lot of fun and high DPS as well.
  14. I know you'll lose some recharge, but if you place 4 kinetic combats and a crushing impact triple in where you have the crushing impacts it will give you more S/L Def and save you a few slots...you could put those in resist physical damage and bump your resists. No ATO set either? You could use that and catalyze it to purples to boost your Def/HP/Recharge...plus the proc adds to resists...
  15. I have a /Regen guide link in my sig that will help you with slotting.
  16. Ageless can add DDR though.
  17. Typically it is...but to each their own
  18. Put brute's fury in burn, make sure the proc goes in there...it's up about every 10 seconds which is the right interval, and being an AoE it always hits something so it procs every time. My SS/Fire brute stays pegged around 95-100% fury when farming with the proc in burn.

Leave armageddon and it's lovely proc in footstomp...that is a win/win.
  19. For mind control, I like the Mind/Time synergy in controllers...but a mind/psi dom is a good thing.
  20. You should look at using reactive armor in Tough AND resilience...it is really worth slotting it out...you also didn't get much defense above and beyond toggles...You are aware that stealth's defense bonus is halved in combat right?

Maybe you should read my guide...it has some tips about what you need to be more survivable on a regen...I would have gone spiritual alpha also instead of vigor...but that choice is yours. The link is in my sig.
  21. What do you want to be better at?
  22. If you need defense and recharge, you may also consider agility, though it wouldn't benefit WP's inherent powers much it would boost your Defenses considerably(20%), and you gain 33% recharge...also includes 45% end mod, but if your endurance is fine that's less an issue.
  23. Well, some of the earlier suggestions for this build deemed that it would be better to use ageless as a recovery crutch and take the defense, as opposed to being self sufficient and supplementing the strengths of my survivability....I would prefer not to lean on a destiny to make my build sustainable. I view that, at least in my mind, as somewhat deficient. Others may use it viably, but I prefer to not have to have something that is only available in 45+ content...and even then, that's after you've acquired it.
  24. This is what I did, took S/L Def to Incarnate softcap and E/N to regular softcap...boosted to incarnate with icy bastion...
