Claws/WP or Claws/Inv for premium?

Would you pair Claws with WP or Inv on a premium acct? No IO's, so SO's mainly. Inf is no object (my main acct has plenty of inf) so HO's or orange (ie, not superior) ATO's are a possibility. But prolly no SBE's.

Invuln has drastically superior survivability to all but psionics and is easily softcapped to S/L/E/N/F/C without having to go too expensive with IOs. On SOs you couldn't softcap all the defenses really, but the resists would still be there.

On a pure SO buid I would tend to go with Willpower -its pretty much the best general purpose melee defense set. Invuln is going to shine against smashing/lethal and so is going to outpower WP in things like the ITF but as soon as you get any reasonable amounts of exotic damage the regen that WP gets plus its decent base def values are going to push it in the lead - and psionic damage is going to chew up invuln.

Without IO's invuln is also going to be a lot more end hungry than WP, especially if you want to stack tough and weave on top of the invuln toggles. While I believe both sets cost about the same in the end to power their toggles, WP gives you quick recovery to stack with stamina, so its a clear winner there. Also, one of the primary strategies to boost invuln's survival is to get perma or near perma dull pain - which you won't on pure SO's, where WP gets HPT. HPT may only give you half the HP boost of dull pain - but its up all the time.

If you want to be king of the ITF (or close to it) then invuln is a good choice - if you want better general survivability and a smoother ride from 1-50 go with WP.

I've got a 50 claws/wp brute and he was amazingly fun to level to 50 and still shines on Incarnate content. Mind you, I have IO's.

If inf is no problem, why stick to SO's and HO's?

It's a premium account that doesn't have IO license.

In that case I say make a WP. Not having set bonuses to help out with the endurance on a Invul could suck. I rather have quick recovery to help with the end issues. You could actually get to 50 with a invul and get Superior Conditioning/Physical Perfection from Energy Mastery, but that will only effect high level content. I like Invul over WP, but if I did not have the IO license I would just make WP.

This is something I threw together real quick and it might be what I would use if I was a premium player. This build has EndRec @ 4.24/s, Regen @ 49.08hp/s, 1941hp and 52.7% s/l resist.

P.S. you could swap out weave (since the numbers are low) for focus accuracy to help with accuracy and slot it with 2 to hit and 2 end redux.

/WP.

You're most likely going to want Tough and Weave in either build and on an SO-based toon the END use could get painful.

Alot of good points above. However consider Burnout and Unstoppable. You get 6 straight minutes of unstoppable. This can make up for a lot weakness that you will have without IOs set. Unstoppable comes with a 100 percent end regen bonus. Pick up Demonic aura and Force of nature to cover you crashes, so with dull pain add, you can stand tall. Your toon should be very tough when you need it to be against exotic and as always really strong against S/L damage.
