Dark Armor/Fire Melee Build...?

Ok, I have been working on this for a while now, and I want a second or third set of eyes on it to see if I missed something...

I want it to accomplish:
+2.0 or better net end recovery
S/L/E/N softcap or within 1% or so...
120-130% global recharge with Hasten (permanent hasten would be better clearly...but...)
I would like some more slots in Gloom...I want to use it in my attack chain, and it is viable now...but I would like it to be better.
I would also like 1 more slot in manuevers for def/end redux, but I could live with just +rech if I have to...

So here it is:

Changed some slots and where some IOs go (i.e the steadfast res/def proc is best placed into murky cloud where the resistance boost will benefit more than in obsidian shield), didn't really have time to make the slotting look pretty though lol.

Soft cap def to s/l/e/n, combustion dropped. Reasoning: regardless of if it's an AoE attack, a 3 second activation time will get a dark armor tank killed when you need to activate dark regeneration. Ultimately fire breath is better than combustion. As a side note, I'd take dark obliteration instead of fire breath and put the ragnarok set in there since it's a target aoe instead of a cone, and it it does -tohit to all targets hit.

You might get perma hasten with t4 ageless, but with this build it's probably going to be required anyway. Hope you like it, still has 2 free slots to be used wherever you want to put them in.

Edit: You can place the 2 extra slots into soul transfer to put in a set of 3 eradication, remove 1 slot from fire sword circle and instead slot an armageddon set and get more damage and higher recharge bonus out of it and place that last slot into death shroud to put in the fury of the gladiator proc chance for -20% res. Just an idea

Ok planet first off in your build u are over the rule of 5 with the 3 cleaving blows so the extra def to it is doing no good since u are not getting it. Gravity u seem to be missing some slots or for some reason it came up to where your missing some slots. Not to mention the KB prot on it is very poor for a tank since most end game content is from 8-10 KB. The purples r nice and all but do cost u some end.

This is what I am looking at right now...I am pretty happy with this...I wish I could find one more slot without giving up something...but I just don't see it... +/-43% E/N will have to work, and I am sure it will be fine, I just prefer to have it be perfect, though it never is...and if I really decide the defense is worth it, I could rob a slot from hasten if I had to...

Highlights:
45% S/L 43% E/N Def
+2.01 net recovery w/Perf Shifter
11 pt KB protection
150% global recharge (hasten is +/-3 secs from perma)
Gapless attack chain of Gloom/GFS/Incinerate/FSC...repeat.

With all do respect, I did mention there were 2 slots left over to be used wherever. I realize that the kb is poor, but honestly, you really want to have either 1 or 3 kb protection IOs. Reason being is that the majority of the kb that isn't covered by mag 4 protection also isn't covered by mag 8 protection. Slotting 2 kb IOs is relatively pointless due to this, at least imo. Still, there are 2 free slots to use for kb protection if need be.

As far as the revised build, it looks pretty good. One thing I will mention though is that there isn't much use out of 2 eradications in soul transfer. What I might recommend is moving a lotg: def/end from maneuvers into soul transfer to put in that third eradication and get the energy/negative defense bonus. This will get you 45.04% s/l def and 45.66% e/n def is soft cap is important. Alternatively, you could instead move the lotg: def from maneuvers, but that will put the s/l def at 44.84%, but will eat slightly less endurance.

If you plan on getting ageless for your destiny slot, dropping the lotg: def/end shouldn't be a problem.

Another option is to move a slot from SJ to Soul Transfer.

I think you'll want to work scorch into that chain every 10s or so for bruising, accuracy in scorch is a bit low if you fight uplevel baddies. Accuracy is also a bit low in OG, though not as much.

Kind of useless to tank if your being KBed everywhere.

At this point I am thinking getting both Barrier and Clarion Destinys...Barrier will get to t4, I might only get clarion to t3 because I will use it far less often. I left the 2 erads specifically for the max end bonus...other than that you're right. Being as I plan to not run ageless I am trying to minimize end consumption and maximize end recovery, so removing any end redux slotting at this point is unlikely...

I was looking at using scorch too...I will see about trying to get an Acc/Dam IO in there if I can, but playing around with this build....it's very tight...

Which clarion u going to get? 1 of them be kind of pointless on a tank if u took the mez prot since that is what clarion is. One is just mez prot, the other adds range, and recharge. I would of take the rebirth personally for the regain or heal.

If you're planning to add in an Acc/Dam IO from a different set, it's best to put in a Nucleolus acc/dam HO, Synthetic Nucleolus acc/dam HO might be cheaper by 5 million, give or take, but I haven't checked prices in a while. Simply adds a higher boost than a split IO.

I'd strongly consider Ageless Radial for your destiny over any of the others. As mentioned above, I really don't see the utility of having Clarion outside of running UGTs with it. Rebirth you really shouldn't need since Dark Regen should provide all the healing you could ever want, and that leaves Barrier, Ageless and Incandescence.

Barrier isn't a bad option, since you can rez fallen teammates with it and top off your resistances - and given the prevalence of Energy damage in incarnate content, that's an attractive prospect. Incandescence is interesting and can allow you, the tank, to pull in the rest of the league here and there after rushing things the squishy guys can't, but it's still situational and the -heal resistance effect is unlikely to be all that important for you again because of how powerful Dark Regen is.

And that leaves us with Ageless. Too many people seem to focus on the +endurance and recharge aspects of this Destiny. Those are good, yes, and the extra endurance is welcome since it really lets me unload without concern that I'll run dry on endurance, but that's not the real draw. The real reason to take Ageless on a tanker who is getting Defense mostly or entirely from IOs is the Debuff Resistance. You can't get Debuff Resistance anywhere else, and without DDR it can be hard to maintain that Defense. The difference in survivability for my Tanker with Ageless Radial Epiphany is quite noticeable. I highly recommend it.

Now, am I not mistaken here...but I thought the radial side with DDR intact does not boost end recovery...or am I missing something?

It refills your endurance bar (+endurance) but does not boost endurance recovery. Looking back over my post above, I used the wrong term for what I meant to say. I've edited it now.

The endurance recovery is only in the Core branch. I find that the occasional +End when it fires is more than enough to top me off and I have enough endurance reduction and endurance recovery from IOs in the build that I don't feel I really need the endurance recovery from Ageless - I find the DDR much more valuable.

Well, I looked at that, but I feel like if I have to use a destiny to be viable in combat for any sustained length of time, then it will be quite rough until I get Destiny unlocked...this toon is sitting at 32 right now...I would prefer to be self sufficient, and then look at using ageless for the DDR and recharge...rather than having to have it for the endurance.

I do have a lot of iTrial plans for this toon, specifically for the UGT as well, so that was my thought for clarion. I also liked Barrier because, well, who hates more def/resists? I can't think of a time when a little more of one or the other, or both didn't help.

Hmm...I may craft 3 Destiny powers then....we'll see how it works out...

I didn't mean to suggest that you needed the Ageless to be self-sufficient (quite the opposite in fact), only that of the choices for Destiny I found it to be far and away the superior choice. Barrier would be second choice for me, and I actually do have several t4 Destiny powers on my Dark tank - but unless we're running a UGT (clarion) or a MoM (Barrier, for the ally rez) I will generally run the Ageless and I always run the Ageless for regular or solo play.

I would suggest you absolutely look at Ageless for DDR/recharge rather than endurance, I think that's the most effective way to go. Just look at the +endurance when it fires off as a nice perk rather than your focus.

Well, some of the earlier suggestions for this build deemed that it would be better to use ageless as a recovery crutch and take the defense, as opposed to being self sufficient and supplementing the strengths of my survivability....I would prefer not to lean on a destiny to make my build sustainable. I view that, at least in my mind, as somewhat deficient. Others may use it viably, but I prefer to not have to have something that is only available in 45+ content...and even then, that's after you've acquired it.
