    ...whuh?

    How is this "compromised?"

Dammit, I need to un-retire my fa/sd/body and rebuild it into a fa/sd/mu.

    So....many....projects....

I'm looking for something that's able to survive the latter TFs, either Inv, WP, or something along the lines. From what I understand, the devs are moving in a direction where the mobs more or less laugh at defensive based powersets.

I'd prefer to go with something for Kat or BS. Any suggestions?

The big bad in that arena is BS/sd. Sword and board go together supremely well, and should always be high on your list of options for a weapon scrapper.

    Kat/wp is another top-shelf choice.

Moving to the less sturdy but much more deadly, /fire, /elec, or the old-school deadly combo of sword and /dark.

The resist sets gain enormously from either kat or bs, and all three have recharge base heals that add in a lot of goodness.

Last but not least, kat/inv has a lot of interesting synergies. I'm looking hard at one of those.
  3. I tinkered this a bit.

You're forgetting that WP has a -3.75 percent to hit included in RTTC. This is usually the functional equivalent +def, and so can be tacked on to your defense numbers safely. (No, it ain't perfect, just trust me, it works fine.)

I tinkered the build and got you hasten by swapping out for the Mu pool. I also got you some extra accuracy in most of your attacks by changing your slotting a bit.

This should do what you want it to do, and if you are REALLY DETERMINED to hit the softcap without the -tohit boost, start runnin' tips and get the Gladiator proc.

Oh, this should also be a bit cheaper, I ripped out a full set of 4 Kinetic's and a couple of purples.

I am currently using Mid's but would like to see how players have tested thier builds . I dont want to just based on Mid's, may end up losing money n respec.

Tank (Dark/War mace) kindly suggest good def and attack combo. Epic pool and stuff . Money not an issue.

Brute (DB/Stone) kindly suggest combo powers too. Epic and stuff.

    Thanks a millions.

If you can put up exact replica's of their current builds in Mids format, that would help a LOT.

Cimmerorans and Nictus in the ITF can be very difficult to tank if you lack Lethal or Negative resists or defenses. A Dark tank is very nice, but is not terribly strong versus Lethal. Worse, Cimmerorans debuff your defense with EVERY hit, and do enough damage to take you down very quickly once you start getting a cascade failure.

Dark needs to use mobility, fear, and every scrap of defense and resist they can get to handle the Cimmy's. Tack on as much recharge as you can afford, and be sure to get that big heal well slotted, you're gonna need it.

For the Brute.... Well, Stone armor is very tough, for a brute. But it's not tough like Stone armor on a tank. Brutes have considerably lower defense and resist numbers, even though their caps are very high. For a brute, you'd want to seek out team buffs to 'thicken you up' versus the Cimmy's. Of course, get as much defense and resists as possible and don't neglect your rooted/earth's embrace. Mobility is a major concern, so work on that, too.

Hope that helps, and builds will help a lot more.

I'm gonna agree with the above, with one caveat:

For Apex, I think a tanker can be a vital contributor, as long as they have and use aggressively a well-slotted Taunt. Hitting BM with three or four taunts should effectively shut off her crossbow, which will force her to follow. The tank then orbits the combat arena, clumping as many swords as possible with a taunt aura, while strobing BM with taunts. This 'sorts out' the battle. That encounter can become VERY chaotic and dangerous very quickly. Forcing BM to focus and move in a more predictable fashion will make it quite a lot easier.

And hey, five slots of Mocking Beratement are SWEET. (Go for recharge and range.)

If the tanker has a LOT of mobility, then jousting back and forth past her might work even better, as you can Bruise her as you sweep past each time. I'd have to think about that one, though.

Yer gonna laugh, but think about it:

Blasters should get Shield Defense. Of course, some modification would be required, but it would be GLORIOUS.

    Ooooooh, yeah, that is NICE.

I so gotta get back to my db/elec project one of these days.

    I disagree.

As a matter of fact, I ran one of my fave's, a MA/wp scrapper, through a pug ITF last night. I routinely took on whole spawns of cimmy's, solo. If I started to have a cascade failure (rare, I think it happened three times the whole run) I solved it by hopping out of the spawn and heading for the next spawn. By the time I got there, the cascade had vanished, as it usually does, and I was back to face-stompin' goodness. Mobility is your friend.

In the cyst mission I steamrolled until I got bored, then I spiked crystals solo.

In the general mission I spiked the first three generals, solo.

I also tanked the comp and the final LR with all three of the nikti shootin' at me.

Trust me, wp with equal investment is WAY tougher than SD, with the possible exception of a bs/sd.

    Maybe.
  11. Oh, terribly sorry, I completely spazzed and missed these questions.

Cyto's are not cheap, but it's good to have goals. The market is your friend for making money's. Until you can afford cyto's, frankenslot three def/end IO's. You lose a bit of to-hit buff, but you won't really notice until you're tackling well above base levels.

Good catch on my Body Mastery mix up. So you think conserve power is better then focused acc?
Very much so for an invuln. Thanks to Invincibility, you will rarely have trouble hitting things, especially if you're in a nice crowd.

    Quote:
Or should I scrap Body Mastery altogether and get something else?

Man, I'd love to fit Unstoppable into the build.. just for the Oh-#$%^ factor
Body Mastery is a godsend for Invulns: Take conserve power and physical perfection.

Unstoppable is nice for a brute, but nearly superfluous on a scrapper.
  12. If you can afford the investment to make it survivable (well, sorta survivable) nothing does more melee AOE damage than a spines/fire scrapper.

    Nothing.

It has to be seen to be believed.

And yes, I know exactly how much damage a ss/fire brute does.

I'm thinking a brute gets a lot more use from Unstoppable than a tanker or a scrapper these days, and yes, a brute with a fast team can usually get all three pylons dead before the crash, if they're sharp.

Dat's a cool thing to see, too.

    Claws/inv.

With inherent stamina it's no longer quite so painful early on, you get pretty much your entire attack chain by level 6, and you get allll that Invulnerable durability plus aggro holding.

You'll never be tanker tough, but you can be plenty tough enough, and you get the joys of Claws:

    Followup, Focus, Spin, repeat.
  15. ...um.

From a pure survivability standpoint, given equal investments, willpower is MUCH more durable than shield.

I'm sorry folks, but that's just truth in advertising.

Get S/L/E/N/F/C to 40-ish percent, toss in the -3.75 tohit debuff in RTTC, the HUGE regen buff in RTTC, etc, etc, etc, and a WP will survive stuff that faceplants any SD over and over again.

And let's be honest, an Inv is even tougher than a tooled-up wp....a little.

Now, the SD is gonna be plenty tough, don't get me wrong, and has ALL THAT DAMAGE....

I personally think (and have thought for a long time now) that SD is waaaay overpowered, but it's not because of the extreme durability of it.

    It's just durable ENOUGH.

Also, I think fire and electric armor for scraps/brutes should get some boosting. Fire especially is supposed to do more damage than shield (and it does) but the difference in survivability is a lot more than the difference in damage.

    My two cents!
  16. Some thoughts:

Make large SG's 'good'. A simple way: After the first ten unique accounts, every member of a SG gains a permanent buff as long as the SG maintains population:

11-20 members, +1 percent to one of Resists, Damage, Heals, End Mod. You choose the buff when you join the SG or set it once per day under options.

    21-40 members: +2 percent.

    41-60 members: +3 percent.

    61-100 members: +4 percent.

    101 members+: +5 percent.

    Give Large SG's goodies:

CoP raid allowed to SG's with any number of members.

"better" raid allowed to SG's with 30+

"Even better" raid allowed to SG's with 70+

"Uber" raid allowed to SG's with 100+

Better versions could be as simple as the CoP with better temps to as elaborate as you want to go. Private versions of Cavern, Hami, and Eden Trial would be my personal recommendations, with mobs toughened as appropriate for 3 groups of OMG toons.

Even better would be new raids entirely, but we should gun for easy stuff at first.

Cobra Strike had its stun chance reduced from 100 percent to 75 percent, and had it's damage increased roughly 1000 percent.(Yes, seriously.)

It now hits just about as hard as CAK, and CAK hits like a bomb going off.

In addition, Eagle Claw now adds 33 percent to the crit chance of the attack which directly follows it (within .25 seconds, if I recall correctly.)

Dragon Tail seems rather vanilla for a PBAOE until you note that it animates WAY faster than any other PBAOE, and can accept the force feedback chance for +recharge proc.

Martial Arts rocks like Bruce Lee now, especially with the wide array of alternate animations, and more importantly, the huge amount of 'in-betweener' animations. It is a pleasure to watch.

So, yes, these days, MA is giving BS a serious run for the 'big orange numbers' competition.

The only problem is, I am god-awful at Mids. I've been hammering Mids at work for the past 7 hours or so, going from Mids newbie to.. Mids newbie in the process. My goals have been:

    1) Max DamBuffs
    2) Max Recharge
    3) Max Defense/Resistances
    4) No purples (Yet)

But I simply cannot seem to keep track of what I'm doing, and end up just being overwhelmed at all of the things I'm trying to max or just look at the build unsatisfied and start over (and over, and over, and over..). Does anyone know of any helpful tidbits or IO sets specifically to look at?
BS/sd is awesome, you will like.

Note, however, that Martial Arts is scary now. Eagle Claw, Crippling Axe Kick, and Cobra Strike all hit like you're throwing anvils.

MA/sd is a monster. Prolly not as good as BS/sd, but very fine indeed. MA/elec is a monster. MA/fire is....well, you get the point.

    Any thoughts?
elec/elec, slot mildly for end drain in one or two attacks. Works surprisingly well.

For much more debuffage, elec/elec tank with Soul Mastery. Gloom, Darkest Night, and Dark Obliteration for some serious -to hit stacks, which works out to a huge boost to your survival.

Purists might point at dark/dark, but I just can't.....
  20. I am slightly ashamed.

I was invited to a PUG STF on my shiny new fire tank. Looking over the team, I saw all we had was me and a dark/kin tank.

    Oh boy.

I offered to bust out my tooled-up invuln, but was told that nah, we'd try it.

Things went great! Me and the dark split aggro, ping ponged a few things, we clobbered the patrons on two dual pulls, it was going great.

The dark went in on LR and things were swimming until the Lord of Angst got lucky and planted him through the emp and ice buffs.

I jumped in and taunted, but without a full buff stack he dropped me fast. The emp was repairing the dark, so I hosped it.

On the way back on my jetpack, I saw the dark drop again, before the buffs could all be refreshed.

Well..... I was already flyin'..... And I DID put five slots in taunt for the juicy Mocking Beratement set buffs...

    (hangs head)

So, I hover taunted him the rest of the way. (sigh)

    I feel bad now.

I donÂ’t get bored as long as I am not getting dead. In fact, I am very willing to sacrifice face melting alpha striking thermonuclear power for just outliving my opponent. I figure that if I live longer than the mob then I win.

So, setting aside my preconceptions, bearing in mind my notes and open to the possibilities of questions, in what power sets do you think I should invest?

While the suggestions above are very nice, you seem to be quite certain that survival is your first goal. And Shield, Willpower, etc, are nice, sturdy sets, with some work.

However, for a scrapper, I feel the acme of survival is the Invulnerability set.

So, Invuln should be your secondary.

For primary, the MOST survivable pairing with inv is Dark Melee: DM/inv is...ridiculously tough.

Sadly, it pays for that incredible durability with very low AOE damage. This means you will perform slowly.

Other sets have far more AOE, but in my experience, the simple 'best' partner for a sturdy Invuln frame is claws.

It is light on end, has the incomparable AOE of Spin, and the entire attack chain you will ever need or want is focus, follwup, and spin. Everything else is filler.

I take the liberty of posting an example build. You can build them much tougher than this if you want, but I find this to be MORE than enough, and as a bonus, the build is within shouting range of a reasonable cost.

Add in a recharge alpha and you will be good to go, but this build will play well at any level.

    Enjoy!
