Hess. Three simple words. Giant. Nazi. Robot.
Its quick, its fun, not a lot of needless running around. You never have that "this is just one mission too long" feeling that you get from some of the TFs. Its pretty much perfect. -
My favorite channel is "Team" when I'm soloing. Man, the conversation there is just awesome..

Quote:I absolutely agree with this. I get so busy sometimes hauling *** from one place to another without even thinking twice about things that its genuinely refreshing when I get stopped by a new player who has questions or is just looking for a little help. Getting to re-see the game again through a fresh pair of eyes always gives me a greater appreciation for it. Just taking a couple of minutes to answer some questions, help someone find something, or drop a little extra inf to get someone started can make a world of difference.I think all the veterans just need to remember to humor any new players. That extra five minutes to answer a question, help with a mission or fork over a few bucks may keep a new player interested and more importantly a healthy server. The game is nothing without it's players.

1) The Sandmen- My first SG was a small group called the Sandmen. Looking back on it, we were so spectacularly naive about the game and how to play, but good lord did we have a lot of crazy fun doing it.
Then I took a short break from the game to deal with some family health issues. When I came back, most of the Sandmen were gone, so I was SG-less for a while.
2) B.O.S.S.- Myr and crew invited me in, and I've been there ever since. Sorry about that guys, if only you had known then what you were getting into... suckers!!
Seriously though, love the BOSS gang. Not as many of us left, but its hard to beat a good veteran team when we pull one together. -
Ultraamann- Inv/SS Tank. 1st toon. Got him to 50 before it even dawned on me to roll a 2nd toon. He's still the king.

You can wreck anything with a well built tank. It just requires a little patience, a little understanding, and getting that they're all going to have a different flavor and feel to them. -
What I would like to see from one of these Pirates movies is... some actual pirating!! Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed the movies, but there just doesn't seem to be a whole hell of a lot of pirating being done by the "pirates". And I still think someone should slip a One-Eyed Willie reference in at some point.

I've been re-reading all of Robert Crais' Elvis Cole novels from the start. Good, fun, clever mystery/thriller stories that just get better and better.

Mine are just in the order that they were created. I've never moved one. And, until I read this post, I wasn't even aware that you could move them around. Goes to show what I know.

I'm sure you'll be able to get people to break out their lvl 50 tanks for this. Maybe go do some shard hunting, hit the big TFs with all tank teams. I've completed ITF, STF, LGTF, and Kahn TF on all tank teams, so I know for a fact that it can be done. Its a chore and a challenge, but that's part of what makes TT so much fun.
Other than that, I'm sure we'll get the usual turnout of tanks of all levels, and we can get some good teaming done. I'll be there as always with one of mine. -
My impression of it from what I've read is this:
Dick is going to remain in Gotham as Batman with Damian. I think Bruce will recognize what a remarkable job Dick has done both in holding Gotham together, and in taking care of his son.
Bruce is going to travel the world, acting as Batman on an international level. I think he's going to seek out up-and-coming, or even established crime-fighters in cities around the world and bring them into the Batman fold, offering help with training, equipment, support, and finance. I can see him taking Tim along for this, since Tim is already a well-established world traveller as well.
Good idea? Bad idea? That remains to be seen. I'm just glad to see Bruce is expanding his horizons a little, looking beyond Gotham. Hopefully this move will give Bruce some much needed international legitimacy as well, and help shed the "idiot playboy" identity. I still think there would be nothing cooler than to see: Bruce Wayne, Head of Checkmate (or whatever large-scale international peace-keeping force there happens to be at the time) -
I don't read it monthly, but I pick up the Ultimate Invincible volumes as they come out. I like being able to read a nice long arc, and enjoy the large format.

I kind of enjoy the fact that they're showing them screwing up epically as they're learning to use their powers. Too often in the superhero world, someone gets powers, and BAM! they just magically know how to use them perfectly. Thats one of the things I always enjoyed about GAH as well, that he didnt have the first clue what he was doing. Its a learning and a growing process.
Its always one of the things that always drives Batman crazy. He worked and trained and studied his butt off to make himself into what he was. Then you'd have all these guys who just got these incredible powers as a gift or a freak accident, and they would never really put the time or effort into mastering them. Always cracked me up when Bruce would get pissed and call them amateurs. That's what this situation kind of reminds me of. They need some serious realistic training with their powers. But, who is there to do it? -
If you were the finest player, you could just get your own damn blaster from 43 to 50. I'm just sayin.

Had a great time plowing through Posi pt1. Good times as always for Tanker Tuesday. And sorry I had to cut out after Net, but I had wife aggro... one thing even Tankers are useless against... lol

72... I'd feel old if I weren't powered by the nitro-super-magnum-destructive force of sheer damn Tankiness.

Enjoying the new season so far. My only request: More Casey. Casey rules. They better not go softening him up now that he's trying to do the dad thing.
Oh, and the return of Jeffster was just pure gold. "Is there room in that womb for two?" Even my wife did a spit-take there. Awesome. -
I liked it. I enjoyed seeing how they handled the characters' realizations about their powers. Going out and exploring their limits, seeing exactly what they can and can't do. Loved seeing Dad eat it on the rooftop during one of his jumps, and seeing Mom having to snarf down huge amounts of food after her runs. Gave a nice realistic touch to things.
I also liked the chemistry between the characters. Chiklis and Benz really nail the mom and dad roles. You can tell there is genuine love and affection there, but also a LOT of frustration and discontent. And getting powered up didn't cure it, but gave them the impetus to look at it honestly and start dealing with it. Each of their friends, the DA and the lab assistant were also well done. The kids' roles were a little weaker, but a lot of kids' roles usually are, and it takes a bit for some actors to find what makes that role work (plus I have to fight against my natural impulse to want to smack all teenagers upside their heads).
I was pleasantly surprised by the pilot, and hope they can keep the quality of the writing and the effects at that level. I'll keep watching. -
Planetary. Warren Ellis & John Cassaday. Top notch art & writing. I cannot possibly recommend this series highly enough.

I've always been a sucker for the big summer event at DC. Before Infinite Crisis hit, I went back and zipped through most of them, just to get the feel for it. I'd recommend reading Crisis on Infinite Earths first, just to really set the feel for what they'd done with the DCU (and because its 12 issues of George Perez drawing everyone).
After that, I'd buzz through the Zero Hour series, to see how they tried to "fix" some of the more glaring errors that came about in post-Crisis continuity.
I hated Identity Crisis. Rags Morales' art is gorgeous, but I would still like to punch Brad Meltzer in the balls for that whole mini-series.
I would definitely recommend reading the OMAC, Villains United, Rann/Thanagar, and Day of Vengeance mini-series, and I'd throw in the Return of Donna Troy series as well. Then you'll pretty much be caught up to speed on everything that's going on when Infinite Crisis hits. Then you'll be fully informed and can take it for what its worth.
52 was great. I was very hesitant about the weekly concept, but they did a fantastic job with it (which sadly, makes the utter failure of Countdown even more glaring). They carried multiple storylines for an entire year, and had them all pay off well. Plus, it really let one of my very favorite characters shine: Black Adam.
I'd read IC, then 52 as a whole, and then pick back up with the Bat-books. The One Year Later markings will make it pretty easy for you.
