Just wait till later in week. Since you don't get shards no one will want to do the WST twice with the same toon. By the weekend the furor will die down and people will be complaining they can't get a team.
First day of WST is always bad. It is so bad you can even get on a SF red side. :-O -
I couldn't say if I have one or not but probably. I try to pick a different color scheme for each toon and costume and with like 40 toons that is a lot of costumes.
The tricky ones are the odd colors like purple, orange and violet. Not looking wimpy (or like Super Pimp) in a pastel colored suit is a challenge. -
Quote:What I want to see I a villain arc which TRIGGERS a giant robot in Paragon and something to the opposite from Paragon to Rogue Isles. Villain releasing a giant robot on the city is just so perfect, giving you the chance to "ruin some hero's day".Giant robots (larger than the War Walkers) will only happen if and well the devs solve the problem of targeting extremely large entities. We know they're working on it, at least.
It would also be nice is event required participation somehow. Maybe contacts won't give out missions/TFs if there is a giant robot in rampaging through the city. That would make spawning a GM require a certain number of players online (and it would have to happen a lot less frequently than those pesky Rikti). I dislike seeing an Alien invasion fail due to apathy. :-D -
Interesting that what some see as repression I see as a challenge. I often take this attitude to the game.
Side switching. How do you design a character who regularly switches side? Why would he do that? My answer was someone possessed by multiple spirits from the other side who influence him and sometimes outright control my character pulling him one way or another. He is the definition of "unstable".
Pistols set and a very cool new Cape that only had Magic designs. I wanted both so again went with the ancient looking pistols which were enchanted.
My female Cyborg Manikan who has existed a while looks extremely cool as half cyborg and half animal fur so now she is the result of 2 botched experiments instead of one.
The story part I enjoy, although I do get annoyed with how little time my villain spends being a villain. Alignment missions have helped with that. I love burning down Croata (however you spell that nightmare).
So it is all very subjective. What annoys one person makes someone else happy. Some issues I have found worthless but I just ignored them and moved on. Nothing says you HAVE to use your powers all the time even if you take them. I swear my Fortunata steals my shards (I know I would) so I don't put her up much. -
Add to list that Red side there are abandoned labs in Cap and St. Martial that you can use for crafting. They are on the map but I don't think I've ever seen anyone else in them.
-
Dang I thought this was just me getting old. I however think that the computer's focus is getting lost and the mouse is moving behind the screen. I usually find it by clicking (which can cause anything to happen from target switches, to powers turning on/off, to leaving game) but at least I can see it again.
I also have a LOT of trouble with changing trays by accident when trying to click power 1, then I am madly switching trays in combat. An individual tray lock command would be very nice. -
I have to agree that characters are becoming too generic.
The first strike against uniqueness were ones most people didn't even realize:
1) Veteran ability to take Travel power with 1st tier power. Freed up 1 power.
2) Ninja (and now Beast) run. Most people don't bother with a travel power now freeing up 1 power.
3) Fitness Power Pool Inherent. Yes I know most people had these 3 powers already but it freed up 3 more powers.
Individually these don't break the game but together they give you 5 powers you can assign to AT powers allowing you to take everything (or almost everything if you take any PP powers).
This makes every build pretty much the same as every other build the only difference being in the slotting.
Now you add top tier powers that are also generic and it only gets worse.
As has been stated the best part of CoH has always been how unique the characters are and the way they play. Originally people actually had to decide if they wanted to focus on AoEs or not, now you can take them all. The same goes for ATs like Fortunata's where you used to have to choose between ranged or melee attacks or more control. Now you can pretty much have it all.
The problem is that having to make hard choices and do without things isn't much fun but making a character you really like playing within the confines of the rules is exceptionally fun. At least to me. Also having a build that isn't like every other Fire Tank you meet is cool too.
On the flip side when Devs say "Free power picks!" everyone says "Yeah! I love you!" because it is fun at first when you get your short term reward. But later when find you are playing "Clone Wars" on the wrong side it isn't so sweet.
That said there will always be people who don't care about any of this. They just want to be "uber" then they will on move to another game, at least until the next release. They don't care what they get as long as it is big and if you want to keep their subscriptions you have to keep expanding upward quickly. Anyone else notice how much more crowded the servers have been since the Incarnates?
So pleasing 2 sets of very different fans is another problem. But as my sig says, I don't care about other people's problems, I want my concerns addressed. LOL -
Quote:Well said. How could we wildly speculate for the next week or 2 if we knew everything? After all that's half the fun.Sheesh people....when have they *ever* released a full and complete list of the contents of a new Issue with their first posting?
I am still waiting for further word on the revamp of the Power Pool system. And of course Incarnate slots. What they announce on this release will determine what people expect for next releases. If they open 1 slot we are looking at a lot of releases before they are all open. 2 and it will still take a while to release them all. Any more than that and I think we'd overpower any content they could add faster than they could produce it.
I would really like to see a reason to fight mobs with diff over 50. Currently once you hit 50 there is basically no reason to raise difficulty slider, that combined with death has almost no effect and play gets sloppier and sloppier. My last Silver Mantis on the last mission everyone ran in a different direction and fought solo (and died solo) until boss spawned. Not exactly challenging.
Make shards/purples drop at faster rate for higher level mobs or something.
Postscript: On Pets, I'd be happy if they made my MM pets stop getting stuck at zone in. -
Interesting I have seen the adds for this but I have treated them like all other SPAM I set them to ignore and report them as a spammer. Enough people do that GM steps in.
I also can't imagine what is in an AE mission that is worth 10 Mil Inf. My only guess is that it is to power level people who don't know how to play/don't want to bother learning.
Some of the TF/SFs I've been on lately frighten me as to how randomly formed Incarnate Trials will go. By level 50 you should at least know to stay with group and not dive into the next spawn when you personally are at 25% health not a Tank and don't have a healer on the team, I mean come ON. lol But they got to 50 somehow. -
Could be worse the Weekly TF could have been the old Positron TF. It is possible no one would have been able to complete it before the week was up LOL

Quote:A lot of these "guys" get paid a few dollars a day to work 12 hour shifts and do it using lowest common denominators (how fast can you do 5 alignment missions at -1, 0 using a blinkie find utility?) Then give all the inf to central account run by someone who makes a ton of money because he has like 20-30 people doing this for him all day every day. This is how they can sell it so cheaply. He is usually the only English speaker in case a GM questions a player. Not me, gold farmers. They sell in-game currency for real money out in the world. So doing something that stupidly complex isn't a thing they do for "fun" like the rest of us but rather a means of making money. So for them, it makes sense to maximize profits by farming the most efficient way possible. If they can create high-selling recipes this way rather than wait for random drops, that's what they'll do. I read somewhere that these guys work 10 to 12-hour shifts. That's more "playtime" in a week than I get in months.
This isn't "playtime" for them it is more like slave labor. -
Quote:Delete a character? I hear the words coming out of your mouth but they aren't making sense?!? Surely you must be mad.I'm not entirely sure I'm an altoholic or not...
I have multiple characters.... but when I delete the old ones... I just recreate the same ones again at first level... so I'm not really creating completely new characters all the time... just recycling the old ones...
Maybe I'm a reincarnatoholic?
I fill up a server then move to a new server and fill that one up. So far I have filled like 3 or 4 plus used up all my free character slots. I have a solo SG on pretty much all of them too except for Virtue I think which I filled up before they had SGs (or multiple pages of characters). My characters there still haven't been respeced for Power Diversification when I move on I move on LOL. -
There was a plan to take down the war walls ages ago. No idea why it fell down probably because they had better things to do.
Personally IMO leave em there. Taking them down means a lot of effort I'd rather see spent elsewhere.
It is a major rewrite of art and zone info for almost every zone unless they throw common sense into it which takes even longer. Eg. they need to be left up in RWZ and anything bordering it on that side. Then what about other Hazard zones? Would they really take down the walls and let swamp monsters from the park wander into Altas? Probably not. All this and not an ounce of additional content or real playability.
By the time you leave all the walls around all the Hazard Zones and the zones bordering them you end up with a lot of the walls still there anyway.
Secondly I HATE the lack of defined boundaries in Praetoria. I am forever accidently zoning when trying to get stupid badges. At the very least there should be absolutely no badge stuff at zone lines ever again as that is really annoying. -
All time favorite was when my Peacekeeper was told:
"Stop using KBs"
I think Peacekeepers have KB on rest. lol -
Only real issue with this is getting people to help you with solo SGs. There are a lot of them out there.
Since you can't invite your own characters you have to beg, plead, bribe, or all of the above someone into helping you by joining your SG long enough to invite your characters. No one who is already IN a SG is likely to help you with this as they will lose their standing in their SG and have to get reinvited to it.
So that leaves people with no SG. Most just haven't found one yet, but now if they start in Praetoria (and understand the game) they won't be willing to help because they will be giving up their bonus prestige.
Personally I don't understand why we need the 100K thing at all. Just needlessly complicates things. I'd rather be able to invite my own characters to SG. -
All I can say is live servers have to perform better than they currently do during MSRs. They weren't bad before but last 2 weeks or so they have become exercises in frustration. Lag so bad you can't do anything and mobs appearing so slowly they are hard to find and often dead by the time they finish "porting" in.
-
Well boss definitely dropped 1 because mission was already over before fight started.
Shards I don't know. I know I was getting REAL ticked off after that many missions of nothing though. LOL
Oh well I wanted to check to see if anyone else knew about something like this. As long as it isn't a known issue I assume it is my fault somehow. Isn't a bug until others start having trouble.
Thanks. -
I don't know if this is a known issue (couldn't find it and haven't heard of it) but I noticed that my Blood Widow Pet is being treated as an NPC instead of a pet.
I noticed when I killed a Rikti Boss in a solo mission that she had been beating on and I only got 1 Vanguard Merit for a boss instead of 3. Now I thought pet damage was considered a part of your damage and things like this shouldn't happen.
Also noticed (although admittedly it is a LOT harder to verify) that once I started soloing missions without her I got shards. With her I got absolutely no shards. Solo at +0 +8 for 8-10 missions, no shards, is about as much test as I can stand LOL. Without her usually get at least 1 shard per mission. I could have had an attack of bizarre luck, I know but that is what I've got.
That is a pretty big hole. It makes these pets completely useless. -
I would also agree that most people don't want to "be free" what most people want is to be "left alone". This is why you see people backing political factions that are so divergent from what you think would favor them. All they really want is to stop the opposite faction from "bothering them" either via taxes, discrimination or whatever.
Most people don't even understand the difference between being free to do what you want and everyone doing what they want. They cannot grasp why people would want to do things they don't like. This is the root of much political/religous (and family) turmoil.
I've heard many VERY well meaning people striving to take away the rights of others with only the excuse "But I'm right" and there is no way past that mental block. I am right means anything I do is right, regardless of how it effects others.
Let me point out something further. Rogue Isles has a government run by Lord Recluse. Longbow has set up bases and performs raids on a another sovereign state without the approval of the US Government. They have no right to perform these actions are are by definition a Terroist Organization by performing acts of war without the approval of their government. Who is the good guy there?
Everyone is the Hero of their own story. No one sees themselves as the Villain it is always the other guy. -
At this point only my Fortunata is Incarnate and I don't see moving more 50's to Incarnate any time soon. Like many I prefer solo content.
I run my Fort as a Scrapper/Controller. So I took Nerve Branch oddly enough not because I need the Accuracy but because of all of the other benefits. 20 Def is huge. 30 Confuse is nuts. Aura of Confusion lasts a VERY long time for an AoE control (compare it to an AoE hold and remember Confuse hurts the mobs and doesn't draw agro) and Hold duration which I also use a lot.
One of the odd benefits is that I am REMOVING accuracy slots from powers to use the slots elsewhere giving me more Defense/Stamina/whatever. -
Brutes had Ice Armor and lost it. Not our fault if they can't keep track of their stuff. This is why we can't have nice things. LOL
Ice Armor was removed in DEV of CoV in a VERY heated debate. Basically Ice Brutes can't generate Rage because everything they do is to slow down or prevent attacks.
So GOOD NEWS: everything needed to implement Ice Brutes already exists. BAD NEWS: it doesn't work.
Many players wanted a complete rework of Ice powers but Devs didn't have time for that stuff (it sounds easy but is a big undertaking). Me I would just make Brutes with Ice powers pick up Rage a little faster (per power set) and say "It is what it is, you don't like it play a Fire Brute". But I think they are nicer. -
Did Cuda with a random team (Brute and Scrapper leading attack) last night and I think we only had one or 2 deaths (one was me when my Fort got Reich's full attention LOL). Slaughered them all quite handily.
We organized how to use guns so we actually had breaks in the ambushes. Also Fort AoE as a 50+ does a lot of damage and Aura of Confusion also holds up most of a spawn which can really take the pressure off. AoE fear etc are very useful here. This is a good time for those powers you don't normally use a lot because people complain. Waterspout is also fun (and looks really cool on this many foes).
Stacking Leadership made us almost unhittable and header did a good job too. Far as I can tell all big AV fights involve someone with either a million HPs or 10,000X regen or both so I don't see any difference there. Although again stacking Assults and a bunch of 50+'s help increase damage significantly.
I like the unique missions that don't just have an end boss and that's it. Those are the ones I find boring. -
I would like to see the monster items reworked to be less obvious but more in keeping with the rest of the costume options. Example: if you had large hairy clawed feet instead of the feet they have now they could be matched with all the normal leg options (although net nylons might clash a bit lol).
-
I would agree with the poster. Moreover if you check the Villan/Rogue missions when you are a villain they are almost all heroic. A few are take the money most are "Save someone" and you get nothing for it except some vague karmic promise compensation someday.
Worst case is the Morality mission where they ask you to take control of a giant robot and clear out the slums. Why would someone who is only interested in money (Rogue) refuse to carry out the mission and take on all of Arachnos to stop it "Because people live in those houses" Makes no sense at all. Should have been a Rogue/Vigilante morality maybe.
There are few villain missions which are actually villainous. And I think almost all of those get complaints on boards. Some laughably so, the complaint about being asked to destroy textbooks as too evil cracked me up. Here you are killing policemen to rob a bank, but you draw the line at textbooks. LOL
