Summary:
What: Superteam - any at/powerset
Where: Atlas, under the globe
Who: whoever wants to
When: Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012
How: Described below.
I have thought about this for quite some time.
Beginning not this Saturday, but February 11, 2012
a brand new superteam will come into existence.
What type of superteam? All kin? All fire? All Street Justice?
No, no, and no.
This group will be collectively called The Cheapskates.
Rules of play:
Any toon may participate that can join a supergroup.
Any powerset, any AT.
However - the theme of this is to not buy anything - ever.
No kb procs, no stealth procs - unless they drop or you get them from the hero merit vendor.
No global recharge procs unless you get them from a drop or the hero merit vendor.
No buying salvage or recipes.
We will have a base to store all that stuff and pull out as needed. If we don't have what we need, we'll run some AE to get tickets to get it at the conclusion of the day's planned event.
Attuned IOs from the market will be laughed at, but allowed.
You are more than welcome to market with your alts, but these toons will shy away from wentworths to buy anything - but can always sell there.
There will be one meeting per week at 4 pm Eastern time on each Saturday.
I am hoping that there will be a different origin for each player so we can trade off when we get to the SO levels.
Week 1: Initial outing will be 4 runs of dfb to get all four temp powers.
Week 2: Positron Task Force Part 1 and 2
Week 3: Synapse Task Force
Week 4: Faultline Story Arcs
Depending on level progression after week 4
Week 5: Stephanie Peoples/Striga
Week 6: Hero Tips
Week 7: Hero Tips +Morality
Week 8: Sister Psyche Task Force
Week 9: Moonfire Task Force
Week 10: SSA #1 and 2
If and when the last member of the group dings 50, I will ask that we pool all our liquid resources and sponsor an event that I will not disclose at this time. After this event, that will conclude The Cheapskates scheduled meetings unless otherwise agreed upon.
If this is something that interests you, please reply below with what origin you will choose, and if you know already AT and powersets.
My toon
Cheapskate, Fire/Kin controller, Science origin, level 1 -
This is on topic, possibly - but I notice in my combat attributes, that my stealth level varies while I run about from 30 feet to 90 feet.
I check for the details, and it shows 3 celerity stealths of 30 feet each.
This toon doesn't have SS - yet. I plan to respec that in soon. Just wondering about this variation. -
Myself, since the Jan 10th patch, I've had odd things happen. No lag, but I'd see comments I would make not appear for more than 10 seconds in the channel I sent them to.
Strange disconnects when exiting the base, or zoning, and then having to recertify files - which never works - but after a restart of the system, everything is peachy. It makes me think of when the launcher had a memory leak. (still does, but I close it now)
It only happens once every other day or so. <shrug> -
For some, it's the ability to still have the IO set bonuses at a lower level.
However, when you getting random rolls from the hero merit vendor, you're getting what is vaguely called Pool C drops. (I say vague, because I've never seen any documentation as to why a specific recipe qualifies for one category or another) In this category are usually a lot of procs. Chance of this, chance of that, global recharge, recovery/regen, etc.
Because these procs work the same at level 20 as they would at 50 (if the set ranges that low) the lower the level, the higher the value.
33 is pretty much percieved to be more valuable than the same IOs higher than 33 because of the exemplar utility.
It's also viewed as better than the ones lower in level because some of the procs also boost another quality.
Like the LotG 7.5% global recharge - it also boosts defense. The lower the IO, the lower the defense boost.
There may be some more reasons that I haven't thought about, but I think that covers the bulk of it. -
The good news is that there are some pacific coast folks that play well into the wee hours. The bad news is that UGT calls for a good mix of AT/powersets.
I think on a Saturday, if you can name a time, I'm pretty sure I could start a UGT at midnight (Eastern time)- provided we give enough notice. However - that hour is pushing it.
The future is unknown and unknowable. If you can, try and give me a time of when the earliest (for you) on a Saturday night and maybe Liberty can help one of our soldiers. (you!)
I say Saturday, because we do a run on Friday and Sunday - so I'm not sure folks would want to run two back to back.
Any later than that time I mention - and it could impact the 20 hour cool down on emp merits. -
I have looked but not found.
I could have sworn that upon completion of certain incarnate trials, you could run them again and still get one emp merit, instead of two.
My thinking was that this was true of UGT, MoM, TPN, and Keyes.
Yet, I can't figure out where I saw it, or if I was just experiencing some wishful thinking.
It is not in the patch notes, I'm sure of that, but they've taken down the discussions of these things where I could have sworn I saw Positron mention the extra emp for repeating some trials.
Am I crazy? losing my already wee brain? -

Well, I can't say I've never hit a dry spell. Feels like I haven't gotten a purple in a couple or three days. However, I had gotten a purple a day for four days in a row on 3 different characters when I wasn't even trying.
As for shards, sometimes they drop a lot, and sometimes they don't.
Until a large collection of players chime in and say they're hitting a dry spell as well, I'd be inclined to think it's just the rng being stingy. -
Quote:This has happend on several of my runs. Apparently, he wanders out with an ambush. Seems to be random.Congratulations on the badges.
That's hilarious the end boss wandered out of the room BEFORE the cut scene.
In a way, it almost makes it easier - he turns around a lot less in that smaller area. -
Well, I can see your point. Sadly, I don't think there's much to be done, except play on a different server.
I'm on Liberty and haven't seen any messages in the Admin Red -
@Nights Blood, playing White Hariem did a fine job leading the UGT tonight. For those of you that think I talk too much, this is the guy to lead you!
-
Not to cause any drama or issues - Valor, you're more than welcome to lead the raid this Sunday - but if you check LB and LFA motd, you'll see I'd already planned on leading it. You can also check the link below.
Again, you're more than welcome to it - but there may be some confusion on the part of players who don't read the forums.

Quote:Valor, I'd take you on an Mo run, you've paid your dues and then some.Well Not late to the game just have been considering my thoughts. First Rex great job taking the lead on these the few I have been on and the aftertime you spent explaining was very helpful. I obviously won't be joining in a master run as I still am only a +1.
Thanks again for running these.

Ok, I see where you're coming from - and obviously, with marketing savvy, you're not likely to run out of inf any time soon, regardless.
So, essentially - the devs have a strange thing to deal with - there's about 10% of the population with 90% of the inf. They can't price conversions (inf burners) too high, or the 90% of the population won't be able to afford, or would be unwilling to pay the price.
Probably the best solution is to limit every toon's ability to earn inf - and once a toon reaches that amount - it stops earning it.
Instead of a toon having a set amount - inf earned would be account based, rather than character based.
Obviously, what that cap would be would require a lot of thought. -
Thanks for the feedback. I took a peak - and saw some things that I wouldn't have thought of, and some things that I scratched my head at.
I've got the enhancement boosters for hasten and Fiery Embrace. So, I took the 3rd recharge out of those, giving me two more slots to put in BA. This way I can fit the oblit set for the nice bonuses. Little more recharge and the nice 3.75%. I'd have left it as it was - because the 4 multi-strikes were efficient, but the bonuses just weren't that good.
I thought about the low accuracy; and I have to admit, even with my level shift against 50s, I miss more than I want to think about.
I've had FA before - and the only utility it's ever provided me was in PvP. It's a real end drain, as you know. The other content (thus far in the incarnate trials) doesn't seem to be any real challenge to end recovery.
It was a big leap for me to pass up pyre mastery - but I've got to say, I really don't miss it, except during MoM trials when I've got to get out of the pink and can only taunt instead of damaging. -
After a MoM that was run tonight, it occurs to me that the only thing making MoM or UGT challenging is people not being familiar/comfortable with what to do. This will change over time.
-
For Baf or lam, sure - but for MoM, UGT, if I run one, I'll be forming ahead of time - suppose there are no level shifted toons? It'll likely fail, wasting everyone's time.
-
Well, the man said "Forget I said that" -- so I couldn't tell you if he mentioned it or not, I forgot he said it.
-
Sorry, I only peruse this forum occasionally -- why are you trying to burn as much inf as possible?

Quote:Thanks for the insight.Hey Ukase!
1. Skipping the outer perimeter and turrets have been done for some time on other servers, this may only be relatively new to Liberty. Also ignoring the acids and having everyone get grenades and wait for marauder where he spawns. Widely known as a slam (speed lamda).
2. Why? For reward/time ratio of course. Previously we all needed iXP. Now with many/most of our toons at +3 we just want the end rewards. A "regular lam" takes around 25mins... while the speed lam takes less than 12. (i timed it for fun). Plus at less than 1/2 the time - we can do it on 2x as many toons
If I don't need the ixp - i ONLY run slams.
Now, your mission should you choose to accept it - let these rascals know that they should advertise it as SLam, not lambda, so this old curmudgeon doesn't get confused. -
I'm just a bit curious - for months now, almost 100% of the Lambda's I've been on, whether I led them or not, have been zone in, turn left and clear the streets, then courtyard, then the turrets and head inside.
Now, over the past month, those who lead aside from me are skipping the turrets. I don't too much - if you fly - you're likely to get shot down trying to take out the turrets, or get shot down if you don't.
Now, for whatever reason, this past week, folks are skipping the perimeter streets, too. I fully understand that they aren't necessary; they only impact toons that need iXP.
I'm just curious as to why. I know I can lead my own and do it how I want to, I'm quite aware of that. I'm just wondering
1.) Why wasn't it done this way all along?
2.) Why do it now? We weren't doing it before.
Any insight? If there's a method to the madness, I'd like to know what it is. -
Obviously, each of us would prefer the town where each of us lives.
However, that is not going to happen, unless we all collectively move to the same place. And that is also not going to happen.
To be more reasonable, I think we'd do better to take logistics into account and consider the airport routes and interstates - for the U.S. at least, I'd say Louisville, KY.
If UPS is of the mind that they will save more money with that as their hub, I'm inclined to think that the rest of the US population would fare better as well, as opposed to folks in California having to fly all the way to New York or Miami. More people would probably have to travel - but not as far.
As for our friends overseas, have a second one in Madrid or Rome. Or whereever else Posi and the war witch would like to have a small vacation. -
It very well could have been impatience on my part, but I found my kin/shield brute to be just truly ineffective in damage, defense and resistance. I'd finally gotten Shield charge, and found that to be completely awkward and hardly useful. I couldn't even live past a fury of 110% most of the time.
I hadn't yet figured out the mysteries of Mids', so that was part of it, and placing the shield charge reticle in most maps to be incredibly awkward - so much so, that I deleted that toon at level 40.
Despite having learned a great deal more about mids' and different IO sets, the silly animations - almost as silly as dual pistols- were enough to have me swear off those sets for quite some time.
Another combo I won't use is kin/rad defender. Kin I will probably choose again, and */rad I may choose again, but not both together. Kin doesn't offer a lot of IO set possibilities in the primary, and the two sets together just didn't seem to mesh well with me. I still have the toon at level 36, and will eventually finish leveling the toon, but it is low on my list of priorities. -
After a brief discussion with folks who are smarter than me, I was told that the spore's DOT would or could interfere with AS, so it might be an unreliable way to do things. I have not confirmed this, as my highest stalker is still level 4 on some forgotten server.
