Admin Channel?

This is not the best place to put this, but I can't start a new thread where I think it would best fit, anyway.

This question is actually for the Devs and other Admins that can send a Admin message in the game, though others could tell me if I somehow have it all wrong.

Do we really need to get a blow by blow of a costume contest or any other event in BOLD RED in every one of our chat channels and chat windows, even when we have no interest in that event?

I found the several messages about how the costume contest would be late and that was starting to be spammy and annoying, especially since I had to see the same BOLD RED message in at least three open chat windows.

Wouldn't such things be better suited to the event channel for the server and side (hero or villain) where the event was. After all, it is an event, and it is not something that really DEMANDS MY IMMEDIATE ATTENTION!!!

Or is it? Am I wrong? Are these events so important that they demand my immediate attention and something I must be notified of at all cost?

Yet another reason to avoid Exalted...

Yes, that gets annoying. I'm not sure they can get around it right now, though, given those ARE being put out by admins. (On the other hand, I don't recall the Manticore/Psyche wedding being in Admin Red once they got past the scripted part.)

If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.

in fairness last night it was Virtue. Don't see too much on Exalted.

I don't actually think there's a huge issue with this. I'd much rather be kept informed of Dev run events than not. At least it shows they are interacting with the players

^ this.

Overall, it's such a small percentage of time in a given month that they use the Admin channel I don't see it as such a big deal either.

*shrug*

(I removed a bunch of unnecessary color formatting.)

The event channel is a system channel, not a chat channel; they can't talk in it, so no, it wouldn't work.

They could still use Request/Broadcast for that area instead of announcing to the entire server :P.

We'll just have to agree to disagree; it's beneficial to the community that they display community interaction.

This "problem" you're talking about with the Devs spamming us with event chatter happens on average maybe once every YEAR per server, if that much. I could barely think of something LESS important to worry about as far as this game goes. *shrugs*

Seem to recall seeing it more after the server was introduced - plus they keep mentioning "Dev event on exalted," etc. when they do - thus the comment. I'd expect to see it more often there than anywhere else.

I have characters there, just don't tend to like playing there much because of my mix of premium/vip friends. Easier to just stay on the classic servers where everyone's welcome.

Please explain how it would be possible for anyone to see the devs making announcements on the Exalted server's Admin channel "before" the Exalted server existed?

Of course we see it happen more "after" the server was added. Everything happens more often on a server after it gets added to the game.

Agreed.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

Well, it appears that I'm in the minority, I don't care.

If I'm not involved in the event I really don't give a rat's tail.

This is happening more frequently and the frequency is only likely to increase.

If the channel continues to be used for events like this I will grow used to the messages being useless to me and start ignoring it.

If I grow used to it and start ignoring it, I will eventually miss a really important message.

like, say, I don't know...

The server is going down for maintenance.

I just think they need to find some other way of broadcasting for these events. Because right now for me it is like a boy crying Wolf, sooner or later I'm gonna stop listening.

Well, I can see your point. Sadly, I don't think there's much to be done, except play on a different server.

I'm on Liberty and haven't seen any messages in the Admin Red

Not everyone shares the OP's opinion on what is important. Personally I use the Admin Red color on several of my chat channels because I place the same priority on what gets said in them as anything the Admin channel contains.

Just remove the admin channel from all your windows. And don't worry about missing an announcement that the server is going down. As soon as that announcement is made most of the channels will be packed with complaints.

I don't believe you have the option to remove it. I know that I have a tab with only Help chat on it and it still gets admin on it.

The Admin channel doesn't even show up as a channel when you edit your chat channels so there's no way to remove it.

I believe the Admin channel cannot be filtered. Everbody gets it, every window gets it.
