Introducing The Cheapskates--a new kind of super team
Sounds like a wild idea Ukase.. yea I said YOU CASE deal with it. :P I'd love to join you but come May I won't be able to run Saturdays due to my racing schedule..
If Staff fighting happens to squeek out before then I'll do that.. either way I'll do
Science
Scrapper, Katana (cause I don't have one)
Maybe Regen since I just made my first last week.. But might make another.
Lets Rock!
Well, I guess, given the views the page has had, not too many people liked my idea.
I guess I'll just do that as a personal project.

@Ukase
I just can't deal with not having my procs and specials.
@Brightfires - @Talisander
That chick what plays the bird-things...
Hmm I like it! I'm in. Natural Scrapper, Claws/Willpower (I think).
I still play for fun

Rex Bud, I "heart" you but All My Toons are Sentinels, that said I would happily roll a new toon and assist you under the Cheapskates requirments, and of course even offer coalition to the SG. Now what would I wear to such an event, Hmm,
1: Tank
2: Tank
3: Tank
4: Tank
5: Defender
6: Awe who are we kidding it would be a Tank unless you needed something else Like I don't know , Oh maybe a Tank...
great concept and idea BTW just saw this

@Ukase
LOL... every toon I make is a cheapskate.. I live off drops until L47, then I start buying stuff to slot them out or take vrom my base storage. Good luck that should be an easy super team to make. Is it gonna be a SuperGroup of just a toon that wants to hang out kinda thing?
Whoa! Hey, hey, there? Watch were your waving that Sapper Gun Thingamajig with the sparks and the zaps and the endurance drain... humm yeah
Liberty
Blue Stonefist Lvl 50 Stone/Stone/Stone Tanker
Not exactly - he'll just be a toon that won't sneak stealth procs from my SG bin - he'll run SSAs or hero tips and get the recipe that way - and use salvage on hand, or through AE to craft it. More than likely will just have a combo of SO, DO and TOs. Instead of buying SOs, will use whatever drops. It'll hurt not having end mods until they drop, that's for sure.

@Ukase
I could almost do this, but the part that gives me the heebie jeebies is not being able to buy regular enhancements. I've thought about it since we discussed it and tried to wrap my brain around it as 'fun'.
I remember playing my first character and being chronically unable to afford SOs and living off a combination of drops and as much SOs as I could afford, which wasn't much until the 30s. I don't think I could do that again and not even be able to buy SOs.
Living off the money a character makes and only using recipes that drop or you buy with merits I could do. Not being able to buy SOs even though I earned the money fair and square seems too much like work, and not the pleasant kind of work, more like the scrubbing urine of the mens room floor with a scrub brush, ammonia, and my bare hands (yes I had to do that when I was in the military).
I have a level 43 defender I've been doing the 'live off your own funds' and drops on because I've never cared enough to slot her. I got on her recently and realized, hey, I've never worked on her build. She's still fun, but without basic SOs she wouldn't be.

Well, now that you mention it, it sounds a lot like being f2p while being a vet.
Well, wonder if I start a different thread for a different theme?
Fire/rad was done last year.
All kin team was done ...sort of, but fizzled out in the 30's.
I was gonna do a regen brute team, but after all the clicking on my scrapper I decided against it.
@Torment and Agony is doing MM Mondays...
@karmaa is doing Scrapper Saturdays....
@Tax E is doing the Tanker Tuesdays...
As much as I'd love to do an all blaster team, it would taper off in the early teens with no heals or status protection.
However, given that corruptors have a nice damage cap of 210% at level 1, which rises up to 500% at level 50, I think a fire/kin team would be a lot of fun.
And, heck, we'll let the controllers come along as well.
Questions? Comments? Derogatory remarks?

Scrapper/Stalker Saturdays are every 3rd Saturday of the month.
Tanker Tuesdays are every two weeks. This Tuesday there is one.
Just a heads up on that so there are plenty of days you can do this.

How about something like all /time teams....seems like it could be just as fun as all kins, rads etc.... i am biased to this of course since i have a ill/rad at lvl 9, just slow going....
Summary:
What: Superteam - any at/powerset
Where: Atlas, under the globe
Who: whoever wants to
When: Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012
How: Described below.
I have thought about this for quite some time.
Beginning not this Saturday, but February 11, 2012
a brand new superteam will come into existence.
What type of superteam? All kin? All fire? All Street Justice?
No, no, and no.
This group will be collectively called The Cheapskates.
Rules of play:
Any toon may participate that can join a supergroup.
Any powerset, any AT.
However - the theme of this is to not buy anything - ever.
No kb procs, no stealth procs - unless they drop or you get them from the hero merit vendor.
No global recharge procs unless you get them from a drop or the hero merit vendor.
No buying salvage or recipes.
We will have a base to store all that stuff and pull out as needed. If we don't have what we need, we'll run some AE to get tickets to get it at the conclusion of the day's planned event.
Attuned IOs from the market will be laughed at, but allowed.
You are more than welcome to market with your alts, but these toons will shy away from wentworths to buy anything - but can always sell there.
There will be one meeting per week at 4 pm Eastern time on each Saturday.
I am hoping that there will be a different origin for each player so we can trade off when we get to the SO levels.
Week 1: Initial outing will be 4 runs of dfb to get all four temp powers.
Week 2: Positron Task Force Part 1 and 2
Week 3: Synapse Task Force
Week 4: Faultline Story Arcs
Depending on level progression after week 4
Week 5: Stephanie Peoples/Striga
Week 6: Hero Tips
Week 7: Hero Tips +Morality
Week 8: Sister Psyche Task Force
Week 9: Moonfire Task Force
Week 10: SSA #1 and 2
If and when the last member of the group dings 50, I will ask that we pool all our liquid resources and sponsor an event that I will not disclose at this time. After this event, that will conclude The Cheapskates scheduled meetings unless otherwise agreed upon.
If this is something that interests you, please reply below with what origin you will choose, and if you know already AT and powersets.
