  1. I already miss all of you, the community in GW2 isnt the same, maybe becasue i am anti social and learning the game. luckily i have my SG mates from COH for help.....We all had some good times together, maybe one day they can fix this situation and we can all converge on a game again. Wulf, funny you say that i had a SG mate that used to say the same thing to me, he would say "Chris i swear you are a dev!" lol... funny..

The good thing about GW2 is your not really supporting NCSOFT, since its free 2 play. You only pay for the game purchase, so its not like i was in COH where i stayed a vet and always payed monthly and bought the things off the market. Its just a nice game thats well put together to play for free....Correction i am on the Northern Shiverpeaks server, not shiverpeaks like i originally posted.

Anyhow, I hope you guys enjoy your last couple months on the game, i tried to hop on saturday and just couldnt do it, just too depressing and feel like i am spinning my wheels going nowhere....moving on is always hard to do...Take care of yourselves, if you guys ever need anything i can help with feel free to email me ckalreadyinuse@gmail.com Take care, i appreciate all these responses, its just another reason i am going to miss this gaming community, nothing can match this!
  2. I thought i would just bow out quietly, however, it didnt feel right. I started playing COH on day 2 of the release in 2004...back then i can think of so many fond memories. Instead of listing all those i will miss, you know who you are, in this forum i will list the memories i will miss.

    1. The fact that my first toon ever and ONLY toon to have T4 incarnate, DaSlaya, Dm/Sr scrapper, could have perma elude and solo any av in the game. i remamber teams wathing me solo the clockwork king back then and saying damn!

    2. I will miss that it took me 6 months to hit 50, yes a few reasons, 1. being that the cap was orginally 40 and 2. lack of content. But it made 50 so much sweeter and only SO's with no ED. see comment 1.

    3. Truly the most heartfelt, save the best for last, all the friends i have made in this game.

I started on guardian with some friends that roped me in COH, from CS and Quake 2....and met some people that got me to move to liberty over time. A few especially, Kris (stopped playing in 2007), and Gabe (who Tax E will alwasy know as Blair)..on that note

    4. Tax calling Gabe Blair, one of those classic times in teh game thati loved

But i had a core of friends to begin with, they left the game and i gained an amazing core of friendsin game since then.....my super group was one that could truly say we were SUPER and we were always with each other..Maulers n Medics..

Over the years we lost 2 members to death and i never met either one, but it felt like hell, it truly felt like i lost the closest friend ever. You guys know what i am talking about this game brought us so close it was amazing.

I have been in the army for 14 years, so alot of times i deployed and couldnt play but kept my account active, cause i loved the game. My one thing was yes, of course to get home safe and get that mother ****** beer, but also to get on COH and see what was new. When i got into LB channel it was like an alwasy welcome home.

I wasnt one of those chatters on the channel or the most popular name out there, but once you knew DaSlaya was forming some ****, or you teamed with me over n over thanks to LB, it made sense, and thats how this channel brought all us strangers together, and NO NOTHING will replace this. Take this as the besttime in gaming life and move on....unfortuante but it is wat it is..

Finallly, thanks to everyone that supported me in my good, and yes my BAD times whether it was a ****** TF, trial, or me being an *** on vent i will miss this game/life so much. My looking forward to has diminished.

For anyone that cares my SG mates and I have agreed to move on to Guild Wars 2..yes i kn0w you will ignore my whole statement and burn me for an NCSOFT game, but no other game makes sense. I wish COH would have lived many more years, belive me.......@Goob one of my fallen, saved me through more of my hard nights than will ever be known beyond me (yes its confusing cuz its personal). May she rest in peace. So i am there.....use this however, dont burn it.. even if the game is saved it will never be the samee.. my global on GW2 is DaSlaya.5061 on shiverpeaks server.......come if you willl if not i understnad i hate ncosft too, just a sad trade off of quality of my time and how to keep my SG mates together which in the end as we all said is most important. Remember PEOPLE make the game..

Final note...Maulers and Medics SG base have shut off the lights, saddest day ever, my first character will log off in the room we have dedicated to our 2 fallen SG mates...2 torches burning, my torch burns out with you liberty, thank you for the fun, the memories, i hope we all meet again, remember the people make the game, not the content! DaSlaya OUT!
  3. Here is my ill/dark build that i LOVE... alot of it is based and started from Local Mans guide.... trial and error alot on this one, but in the end love him! hope it gives you some ideas! only 208% global but some nice def with it, and tons o pets!

It is very possible to die even when PA is out. When you are plowing content, you can get ahead of them, sometimes they get stuck on three minions and let the AV bee line for you. I strongly suggest getting soft capped. It is an extra layer of protection. It will let you start setting up your hazards (Spec Terror, Tar patch or Sleet) before the PA catch up to you and gather aggro. Also, there is always a brief 1-3 seconds where you are summoning them, and the whole entire mob's focus shifts to you. It REALLY sucks when you die AS you are summoning them.

Just like having a tank on the team does not always guarantee you from avoiding aggro, so is having PA out.

Don't get me wrong. PA is AMAZING, and lets you do some pretty cool stuff. But it is not an 'I WINZ' button.

Now, I don't know how other people play their Illusionists. But I play mine like a scrapper. Perhaps other people are different. Staying well out of range, and playing safe. That is just not my cup of tea.

Yup this is the exact reason on my build its based off of having at least ranged def soft capped..wasnt that way 2 builds ago and was kind of miserable, still got the job done but died more, this builds designed for straight up killing and surviving, i am able to hop in normally to fight, as well as to get PA involved when jumping mob to mob while my water spout chases the runners...and phanty is wonderful with the overwhelming force proc....

yes i will help for sure, as long as i am on that is....next monday (labor day wknd) i will be flying, but sure thing!!

    Magey Mondays!

Just wanted to thank everyone for a great RHW run last night. I have tried this a few times in the past with close but no success. Was really fun and smooth. Now i am not a badger at all, dont have much interest in it, at least collecting them for numbers wise, but what i do enjoy is accomplishing hard tasks in the game and getting Master of badges and things of that nature. So this is the badge i will actually care about and be proud of, since it took a good group of people to accomplish this. So thank you again and congrats to all!
  7. To the OP, what secondary did you pair with TW? I didnt care for the powerset when it first came out then i got it to mid 20's...and yep, i was like this set is cool then the 30s came and i was like oh this is fun, then mid 30s up to 50, it was wow this guys amazing and i can just put him to 50 at willl.... i did tw/elec and having a BLAST with him, he even runs around itrials with no issues when he wasnt even +1 yet.....stick with it if you hate it by the 30s then i will just agree with everyone else and say you will never like it.. but its quite the brutal set at higher levels, and you will find your rythm of when to use Momentum.,...hope it works out for you!
  8. ahh yes how did i forget... i second dm/sr scrapper

this was my first scrapper ever and he deals insane damage!!
  9. I have had an ill/dark for quite a while and re worked his build about 5 times before i finally got happy with the one i currently use....granted, in order for it to work as best as its ability barrier is required... however, i have mitigated it so end use is not high, and he is highly survivable without the sacrafice of recharge, so perma hasten and perma pa... its very click heavy, you have to be on your game with barrier, and fade, but it makes it more fun in the end i think.....

    a few things to note...

    1. Superior invisibility is only used as a LOTG proc mule, and used only when i want to stealth to the end of a mission, otherwise its off

    2. I took hibernate but i realize now that i never use it with this new build, so last powers optional....

    3. I have had great luck with the will of controller set in Flash.....

    4. Apocalypse in spectral wounds is AMAZING!!

Its pricey, but i can solo av's am highly surivable in all situations, i did take hybrid assault because i didnt know what else to take.... the only real mandatory powers incarnate wise for this build to work beautifully is Barrier for destiny, also intuition alpha works great too but its your call.

So the only toggles i run in combat are Shadow fall, combat jumping, shark skin and maneuvers.... and click fade and barrier when they are up.... hope this helps you out!

  10. a few recommendations based off my experience and i have enjoyed the "synergy"

Tank: Inv/Fire (inv/dark would be fun too) - tough as hell can give any stoney a run for their money IMO, i have to make effort to die, and the fire does decent dmg for a tank.....

Brute: SS/Regen (i know neither are on the list, just my fave brute), staff/dark (again staffs not on your list, but loved this combo)

Scrapper: this ones easy, go elec/shield and enjoy the insane dmg...

Stalker: street justice/**wp,ninjitsu, energy, whatever** Street justice is mainly ST and seems to fit more on stalkers, sadly i have a stj/wp scrapper at 48 and i dont enjoy playing him anymore.... hope this helped!
  11. I will second Ill/Dark.. only because thats the only illusion toon i have and love it.... as Local man stated anything beyond ill/rad is expensive, and ill/dark got expensive, but was worth it in the end, since influence isnt really a problem for me.... i did it mainly for the extra pets and also went with leviathon pp for Coralax and water spout... so that gives me

    PA
    Phantasm
    spectral terror
    Dark Servant
    Coralax
    Water Spout

its quite fit and has no issues solo'ing av's but of course the debuffs arent as great as rad.....i like to play this toon with my sg mates ill/rad.,..its stupid fun and definitely cheatyface lol....enjoy!
  12. StupidlySmart

    Electric Nature

Ok so at level 23, i was soloing more than teaming this time around, and felt like this corr was stagnating out a bit.. prob cause i am used to playing fire and not electricity on most blast powers, anyhow i am going to stick with it....i think once i get Votaic Sentinel at 26 i will be a happy camper.... so made some modifications to my build once i realized that another melee type attack would be useful....so changed up my APP and was able to add in rebirth. I lost a slight bit of recharge but nothing that spiritual wont make up for at 50... bear in mind this is Pre i24 build... Once i24 goes live i will likely drop Short Circuit and put Thunderous Blast in its place, and unsure what to drop to get Zapp, i will test out the NA powers and see which ones i like best and which ones i can pass up on..... so revamp of my build for now.... again any experience with support toons not taking acrobatics? Thanks

  13. Here is my 2 cents (inf) based off your list...

Defender: I have not been a big fan of defenders, however, 2 that i totally enjoy, both currently at lvl 40.... Traps/Sonic and Sonic/Water

Corruptor: Dont have many of these myself, but my corrs that survived my delete cuts in the past are Fire/Kin...and just made a elec/nature... really anything/nature is probably fun

MM: only 2 mms i have not deleted are Beast/Time (AMAZING combo) and Demon/Sonic...

However i do find one thing offensive on your list and appalling! NO STAFF!! lol... one of the most fun toons i have ever made is a Staff/Dark Brute... so that would be my no 1 recommendation to you, its strong and fun.....Good Luck

**also i know you already have an ill/rad but i have a blast on my ill/dark.... also love my ss/regen brute, but i see you have a ton of ss toons already also!**
  14. StupidlySmart

    Electric Nature

Hey guys....so i rolled my first NA toon, and chose to go with elec/na....not really for any type of synergy or theme, but more because i found the 2 powersets to be interesting having never messed with each as a corr.... so i hit lvl 22 tonight, and am finding it to be quite nice... and enjoyable.... so here is the build i am thinking i will go with, but i am sure it could be better... I am having a hard time telling if lifegiving spores is doing anything for my end, but works out as a nice heal to fight in....

So...this is what i got for the mass consumption and here are my thoughts n goals behind it

    1. Ranged def as high as possible, and currently i am about 1 purple insp away....
    2. Recharge, Recharge and more recharge.. i like where i am at, and plan to take spiritual alpha slot to complement the heals and recharge....
    3. Lots of resistance, so when i do get hit its not a ton of bricks, and i want to take advantage of the res already given....

So my one issue i foresee...i modified this build a bunch of times in the last day, and decided to drop acrobatics...now, i normally would always take acrobatics on a non melee toon...but lots of things get through it also (ie sleep, terrorized etc..). This guy does fine until he gets held/slept/terorrized etc... I have added in some status resistances not sure if its enough tho.... i see alot of builds out there without acrobatics and i wonder how people like it...

Thanks, enjoy, and i appreciate any feedback..all in all i am really liking NA.. i dub it the "regen" of support sets!

  15. oh before i forget, your best bet is to just copy your character over to test server... test water spout without the proc, then test it with and see what you like, easy enough, and saves you money! each persons taste is different, i just happen to find that phantasm benefited more from the proc than water spout on my ill/dark troller!

The fix in bonfire and tornado wasnt too crazy it just went from 100% KB-KD to 40% and honestly, my fire/rad troller still benefits highly from it in bonfire...

And the knockup is sufficient on water spout, i love that power and i would think its better on ranged toons for a distraction, but also, it could work on melee in the event of those silly runners running from the dying mob!
  17. i slotted this proc at first on my ill/dark troller with water spout..... i asked about it quite a bit, and tested it a little... it seemed to pin SOME enemies down while not having much effect on others. I unslotted it and the impact really wasnt different... so i would say no its not worth slotting it in water spout, IMO. It does great on its own and wont send guys flying anymore, wonderful power!
  18. Yeah so now i am thinking Nature/Rad def..... i would do rad/nature corr, but i KNOW the values arent as good... the dillema i am in is i try to mix up all my AT's... so currrently from a mm,corr, def, troller stand point this is what i got...

    MM: lvl 41 Beast/Time, 39 Demon//Sonic
    Corr: 41 Fire/kin
    Def: 39 sonic/water, 35 traps/sonic
    troller: 50 ill/dark, 50 fire/rad

So, as you can see the corr is what i am lacking, but if natures not good as a corr then i wont bother,,,, do you guys think rad on a defender has enough a** to be able to solo? my sonic/water can solo a little but mostly as a support/utility toon, since i think sonic brings alot to the table.... i would do another MM but find them boring most times....all depends on my mood i guess....

Thoughts? and i will just see any other ideas people have that can get the ole gerbil running the wheel in my head!

I was considering either NA/electric... or NA/arrow..... both make sense for me conceptually but i also think the functionality of those sets could be fun, i am hesitant on arrow cuz not sure how bad the redraw would be and how often i will be casting NA powers.
  20. Just curious for those that beta tested NA....couple quick questions, in hopes and theory the set will come out today or next tuesday....

Just trying to decide which benfits more from the set... ( i know defenders have better numbers, what i mean is in playability and practicality and FUN)...

I was thinking of either rolling a Plant/NA troller or NA/Elec defender... anyone find more fun on one AT or the other, or was corruptors better? thanks, just trying to get ideas so i dont do what i did with water blast and level 2 toons to 30 hate them delete them then finally get a third toon with water that i love (sonic/water def, go figure!) lol..cheers!

    Sonic/Sonic

Yeah i will agree this is definitely a teaming build, but a great one. My only experience with Sonic Resonance is on a Demon/sonic mm, which is nice because i always have someone to use the buffs n debuff shields on.... however, it was noticable differnet when i would team with my sg and use the powers on a real player. As far as sonic blast, i got recommended this recently, and the consensus is this is best used on a defender as its a higher debuff for -res. I have been playing a traps/sonic and hit 31 so far, and i must say, alot more fun than i would have thought, with sonic you start off, and then bam mobs just melt, kinda cool!
    Good luck
  22. Did some more research on the forums, and this is what i have come up with in preparation for i24.....figure i may as well roll it now and not have to worry about respec..

As well i hit 26 the other day, and am now figuring out decent techniques with Trip Mine.. any tips besides the obvious set and pull into the mine?

    Here it is.... thoughts/critiques?

  23. I can totally agree with this, after all Howling Twilight has had dual effects essentially.... yes it can only target enemies, but the dual effect i am talking about is it can be used as a rez or just simply to disorient the baddies.... i figure this maybe was trying to be a hybrid for this new tech to come out....or i could be way off base....food for thought complete!
  24. Yep i can echo that sentiment having recently rolled a traps/sonic def... you can see my exploits thus far in another Def thread, Journal of a Traps/Sonic..... I was and am very happy to watch the sonic-res kick in and groups, tho starts off slow, just melt away..... and traps just adds another element of fun to it... 5 bubbles to get Trip Mine, which will hopefully be later tonight..... then i think it will get insanely fun....

So, focus on the Sonic attacks and you shall see the true benefit it has...
  25. Levels 15 - 24

Knocked out another Summer event, didnt go as well as the first one, no real taunt or ways to lock down the av's so they ran around quite a bit...

Also did posi 1 and posi 2 TF, and i must say on the last mission of part 1, where you fight the mobs of CoT in front of city hall, having my traps down and alll that jazz made it a sinch....first time i truly had fun on that part of the TF lol....

Checked out Silas's Guide, good stuff...and revised my build a bit based off the guide and fellow recommendations, anything glaring i am still missing.... Truly excited to hit level 26

Great thing is, I love this toon, and cant seem to not play him when i get on the game....its nice... revised build below, and as i said its a work in progress
