Melee AT's, Primaries and Secondaries
Tank Inv/dm = for tankiest, stone melee is probably close Brute stone/Dark Armor = I'd say this would be a strong contender for best tank too Brute titan/Electric Armor Scrapper mace/Energy Aura = for humor, this too if you pick a mostly single target set I'd swap to stalker. Brute claws/titan weapons/Fiery Aura = I'd do a double fire tank though, I know the opposite of what you wanted in a tank Scrapper Elec/Shield Defense Scrapper claws/dark me/stj/Super Reflexes = I would make this a stalker though ss/katana/tw/stone/Willpower (I can see this as either brute or tanker) = any set with some knockdown to help leverage rttc. |
Something like that. Course it depends on personal taste.
Are you looking for what works best on SOs, or are you going to be investing significant amounts of influence for top-tier IO builds? Or something in between?
If you're willing to go all-out for the best stuff, I would recommend Dark Armor/Titan Weapons for your tankiest tank. You're going to have to build carefully for endurance management, but the end result is a monster and has very few weaknesses. If you take it a step further and take the character through the full Incarnate process, those weaknesses can all but disappear.

I know that what I have asked is kind of dependant on tastes, what I'm looking for is any particular synergy to be found, either with combinations of the powers or ATs.
I am looking at more than SO's for the builds, probably less than top end. I have some purples stored, I can get Villain Merits to handle some of the more expensive stuff, I have a few billion over all of my toons, much less than 5 billion.
I've really been wondering what to pair the Titan Weapons with. I've heard good things about Electric, Energy and Dark. Dark armor sounds like it could really be a beast on either a brute or a tank. TW/DA brute, or DA/TW tanker? Decisions, decisions...
For the "Tankiest Tank" you're probably going to want Staff Melee, actually. Staff has both a +def and +res buff in it, both of which are strongest on Tankers.
Barring that, Dark Melee has a lot of -tohit and a self heal, and Stone/Axe/Titan have a lot of KD/KU for mitigation.
Personally, I'd make a point of making the following combinations:
Titan/Electric Brute (TW enjoys significant benefit from the end. management and +recharge in Elec)
FM/ or DM/Shield Scrapper (Both are raunchy combinations for raw damage-dealing, Fire has better AoE, Dark has better ST).
@Draeth Darkstar
Virtue [Heroes, Roleplay], Freedom [Villains], Exalted [All Sides, Roleplay]
I24 Proc Chance = (Enhanced Recharge + Activation Time) * (Current PPM * 1.25) / 60*(1 + .75*(.15*Radius - 0.011*Radius*(360-Arc)/30)) Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.
a few recommendations based off my experience and i have enjoyed the "synergy"
Tank: Inv/Fire (inv/dark would be fun too) - tough as hell can give any stoney a run for their money IMO, i have to make effort to die, and the fire does decent dmg for a tank.....
Brute: SS/Regen (i know neither are on the list, just my fave brute), staff/dark (again staffs not on your list, but loved this combo)
Scrapper: this ones easy, go elec/shield and enjoy the insane dmg...
Stalker: street justice/**wp,ninjitsu, energy, whatever** Street justice is mainly ST and seems to fit more on stalkers, sadly i have a stj/wp scrapper at 48 and i dont enjoy playing him anymore.... hope this helped!
My vote for tankiest Tank would be INV/DM...you are nigh unkillable...get gloom from Soul Patron for more damage.
TW/Dark brute is probably the most potent all around combination you could enjoy in a brute when built well.
Elec/Shield Scrapper is likely to be the scrapper I would go with...I could also see something like Claws/SR or DM/SR or DM/Shield being an extremely good synergy.
Currently Playing:
Rage King - SS/Regen Brute (50+3)
Soulfire Darkness - Dark/Fire Tank (50+2)
Deaths Final Embrace - Kat/Dark Brute (50+3)

ahh yes how did i forget... i second dm/sr scrapper
this was my first scrapper ever and he deals insane damage!!
I have a number of lvl 50 toons, most of them brutes. I want to begin a new project, and it involves finding a combination of brute, scrapper, and tanker, using the powers I want, as efficiently as possible, with minimum overlap.
For example, I have targeted 11 offensive powersets and 8 defensive powersets. I want to put the defensive where they belong best, and then pair them with the offensive set that makes the most sense. I want to use all 8 defensive, I don't need to use all 11 offensive.
The offensive I'm interested in are Battle Axe/War Mace (one or the other), Broadsword, Claws, Dark Melee, Electrical Melee, Fiery Melee, Katana, Stone melee, Street Justice, Super Strength, and Titan Weapons.
The defensive are Dark Armor, Electric Armor, Energy Aura, Fiery Aura, Invulnerability, Shield Defense, Super Reflexes, and Willpower.
I want at least 1 tank, and I want him to be the tankiest tank that can be created from this possible mix of powers. When I play my tank I want him to be as sturdy a tank as there can be outside of Stone Armor. So I need to choose one of those powersets for the tank.
The rest it's pretty much putting resistance sets on brutes (especially those with damage auras) and defense sets on scrappers, and then picking the right offensive sets to pair with them.
Looking at my list, it seems that invul would be the best set for a tank. Shield defense is a contender, but putting AAO and Shield Charge on a scrapper is just too good for the damage. So if I go that route, what is the best mix of offensive sets?
Tank Inv/?
Brute ?/Dark Armor
Brute ?/Electric Armor
Scrapper ?/Energy Aura
Brute ?/Fiery Aura
Scrapper ?/Shield Defense
Scrapper ?/Super Reflexes
? ?/Willpower (I can see this as either brute or tanker)
I currently have lvl 50 DM/WP brute, SS/FA brute, WM/SD brute, SS/SD brute, SM/ELA brute.
I would be interested in the communities ideas on what would be good pairings. Thanks.
