Sonic/Sonic
There has actually been a surprising amount of discussion about this combo. On page 2 you'll find a thread that also incudes links to even more threads.
I actually like it for teaming. Very rarely will what you offer be redundant on a team. On the other hand, if you want soloability, this ain't it.

Yeah i will agree this is definitely a teaming build, but a great one. My only experience with Sonic Resonance is on a Demon/sonic mm, which is nice because i always have someone to use the buffs n debuff shields on.... however, it was noticable differnet when i would team with my sg and use the powers on a real player. As far as sonic blast, i got recommended this recently, and the consensus is this is best used on a defender as its a higher debuff for -res. I have been playing a traps/sonic and hit 31 so far, and i must say, alot more fun than i would have thought, with sonic you start off, and then bam mobs just melt, kinda cool!
Good luck
Very solid team character, and matures very fast. You're pretty much ready to rock before you out-level the Posi TF's. All of your shields, two solid res debuffs, a decent ST chain, a respectable cone attack all by level 16 if you want it. And since set bonuses don't provide the same stupid levels of resistance as they do defence, you're not made superfluous in higher level content.
The downside being that because you're not healing, and your buffs are fairly subtle, teams are less likely to notice that you just turned them all into tankmages.

It can be an effective solo'er (not fire, but pretty decent) if you do two things in particular.
1. put the Overwhelming force proc into Shockwave. With that, you can get three cones going for solo mobs and two of em have mitigation in them (the other debuffs).
2. Get a villain epic so you can get a pet. You want this so you can place Disruption Field on it. Unfortunately, all of them are ranged chars (I think) so this will lessen the effectiveness of the pet. BTW, if you get a pet and hang DF on him, you will need a source of end replenishment. So I suggest Mu Mastery.
It's always been good at single targets with all the -res.
Graystar,
I think your decision to go defender with this combo is the right one. The resist and -res values are better than the corrupter version.
Most ppl will tell you to build your char for Ranged Def. it's practical and you can hover blast with ease this way. This will also help with the silly mez hole to sleep in the set.
And as with every other build out there, you want high rech, mostly for the pet and Liquefy.
If you can, sneak in heal self too.
Here's an example of a decent build.

Thanks for the great feedback. I am going to definitely make this a teaming toon. Mostly for iTrials and tfs. I have plenty of solo, farm, tank dmg toons. The other teaming toons i have just seem kinda boring, buff, heal, buff repeat.
I like the attack chain i can get staying ranged and debuff from range. Kinda like a blastroller.
I couldnt see the links on "page 2"?
If someone could post a link or something I went to defender page 2 and there was nothing on it about sonic.
I was thinking only taking the 3 ranged attacks all the debuffs, all the buffs, leadership(all 4), plus sprint hover and stealth grant invs(had one more slot).
Ill try to update mids and post a build for advice.
also money is no issue on builds i already have the pvp io procs, lotgs etc...
I mildly disagree with you on the soloability Deacon. The Coralax pet will melee. S/he starts off with a psi attack or 2 then runs in for smash.
Here's the thread I was referring to the OP, it's labeled "Sonic/Sonic Help".

Yeah I hear ya. As a matter of fact it was today that I respecced to include 5 Overwhelming Force pieces (including proc) into Shockwave and that power is very very nice now. With all the hubbub about the proc in Bonfire and Tornado (and subsequent adjustment), I don't want to turn attention to Shockwave. It's really a new power with the proc.

My sonic/sonics (one Def, 50, one Corr in the 20s) are quite soloable. Only reason I don't play them more is going "Blah, Raaaagh, Awooooo!" at everything constantly annoys me.
At last count(10 mins ago) I have 16 solo toon all t3 o t4 all the way up to hybrid. This is for a teaming toon.
I love the solo ability for reg missions for hero/vill merits. But this is a teaming toon for me. As for the viability of soloing im sure its somewhat possible but its no fire psy blaster or fire elec tank brute or a scrapper with the right misson.
this is only a teaming toon. I have way many more options for solo.
Im trying to find out team builds, and the experience that people have had with this at and these sets.
Of course solo is possible with it. it seems so far as a crazy debuff buf KO blow set.
I'll be updating my solo build for a sonic/sonic defender later. Not at my main computer, so no mids, but it's pretty decent for surviving and damage.
my main was my first toon and first lvl 50. I have been through the niddy griddy with her and 4 years of perfecting a solo build. i now have two team builds, but not any I feel 100% comfortable posting, but let me just say that vengence is amazing. The whole tactics ensemble is perfect for this defender. Only bad thing is endurance issue, as sonic defenders run high in toggles and endurance use. (cardic is great for this because the endurance and resistance boost)
It's a great set because there is always something to do. Since it's buffs, just lay on the goodness and always focus on making sure your bubble is always in the middle of the group. great resistance and mez protection lies in your bubbles. blasters and other squishies thank you because in stead of dying in 2-3 hits, they die in 4-7, plus who doesn't love mez protection. clarity is probably not needed all that much, but I have it on one of my builds, but mainly for hami raids. (everyone will love you for all your mez protection)
It's a great huge debuffer! You can easily stack 110% -res by lvl 30.
Lots of benefits to this build and actually, from my exp, I have had tremendous luck with pvp actually. again i'll post my build later. hopefully I won't forget. (spaces out from a fly that flies by)
Are there any builds avail?
any opinions?
I rolled one out was thinking of how to build it. I like all the -resist
Whats the defender crowd opinion?
I chose defender cause i only have one other and its on of the AT's i like but never really made many of.
