Quote:I am a very vehement opponent of Pay to Win... but that term, in my mind, requires that I feel inferior without them, am less likely to find a team, and have at least some future content gated via difficulty without them.Offense, defense amplifiers... I'm sorry but these are just ridiculous. Please take them off the market. Enough is enough with the pay to win.
I don't foresee any of those eventualities occurring with these. I see them as purchasable Empowerment Station Buffs. Chill yourself, there is nothing to see here. If some folks want to blow their money on them, fine. I won't be, that's for sure. -

Really Hard Way Attempt... cuz Justice needs a turn!
Many other servers have given this a go, and to my knowledge everyone who has attempted it, has gotten it eventually. I would love for Justice to be the proud home of some RHW Badges as well.
Who: Justice!!
When: June 28th at 8 PM (Eastern)
Where: Meeting in the Rikti War Zone
Why: Well, because we can...
What: If you have to ask... well...
How: See below
So, hopefully this is enough notice for folks to be able to make it.
First, a bit of semi-required reading: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=291075
Okay, now that that is out of the way, let's break this down a bit:
1. For this attempt, I would like to require you to bring a +3 Incarnate
2. Have at least 5 Ultimate Inspirations availble for the final fight. (You can get these from Astral Christy in Ouro, or from the market for... a lot).
3. Lores will be used when we hit the proverbial wall in the Tyrant fight, usually around 30% HP according to other attempts at this. As for Lore choices? Pretty much anything that doesn't do Smashing or Lethal will be fine. Longbow are not required, as it seems Tyrant resists -Regen completely, so that aspect is not important.
4. Hybrid is strongly encouraged. Choices should focus on League support or more damage. These too will be activated at the 30% wall when called.
5. Ultimates last for 3 minutes, so as soon as yours runs out, pop another if we are still fighting. A handy tool to keep track of this will be through the Combat Attributes Window, you can track Level Shifts.
6. Debuffing and Buffing will be essential. Bring your Bubblers, Sonics, Colds, Darks and Kins for sure! However, remember that -Regen is not really a factor. But the league should be as durable as possible, and Tyrant should have as much -Res and -ToHit as we can muster. +Dmg to the league is very important as well.
7. As soon as you see the "The air around Tyrant crackles..." message BACK UP! Move away from Tyrant at that point and keep moving until the Flow Lightning spawns. At that point, navigate around the lightning and re-engage Tyrant. It is critical that melee folks move as well, it makes it easier for everyone to get back into the fray quickly with him not in a pile of damage patches.
If after popping Lores and Hybrid it looks as though there is no chance to get a success of the badge in the time, we will fall back to Plan B, which would be to hit 2 Lights at a time up to a maximum of 12. If at that point we STILL haven't taken him down (which is entirely unlikely) we will continue by extinguishing ALL lights.
Questions? Want to sign up? Suggestions for success? Please post them here. -
Yeah, when I constructed the Build originally, I was strapped for cash a lot more than I am now. As a result, I specifically avoided LotGs. Perhaps I can reconsider that option.
And as for the Crap of the Hunter? I shoulda mentioned that that set is also sort of a placeholder for where I will eventually put the new ATO set whenever it gets released... unless there is a much better spot for it that is.
I will think about Singy's slotting a bit, but honestly, I like him to be even better at his role as a Controller Lite than a damage dealer, per se. As I said, I generally team, and don't really need him to add extra survivability to myself. But it is definitely something to think about. If I do move the ATO out of Singy, where would be a good place to put it instead (I do have the Superior version)? -
Hopeling hit it on the nose. In fact the answer was so easy (I thought), that the OP's question made me seriously doubt my surety of the details... but my looking confirmed that that was unnecessary.
-
As an aside, that picture is awesomly ginormagantuan.
-
The biggest problem, the way I see it, is costume lock-out. You would be continually forced to change into something else to take advantage of your powers. If done right, this could be cool... but some will hate that fact no matter what. I mean folks don't like Granite Armor and Khelds for that reason, and Ice gets a lot of ire as well for obscuring costume details.
Also, they're means "they are," their means "belonging to them" and there refers to a particular place. Just aminor annoyance while trying to read your posts. -
I recognize Nightmare... who's the other Anime-lookin' dude?
-
What Agge said is the setup...
But what I was referring to was the tsunami of overblown player entitlement that erupted due to that situation.
I.E. if the debacle repeats, it'll be Staff Fighting 2.0. -
I have been slowly working on making this build the best that I can as I earn more cash. I feel like I have it at about the best place I can, but thought I would post it so folks can maybe point out some errors or omissions to me.
Note: I don't PvP, solo sometimes, run iTrials a lot, but my most favored activity is teaming for TF/SFs. Also, the empty slots in Singy are for the current ATO Set.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Apparently.
Which, sounds... rather odd. -
I can all but guarantee that Water Blast will not be going live on the Market tomorrow. We have been told that we will get a notification one week in advance of "major releases," like power sets, and we haven't gotten one yet.
Please oh please don't make this into Staff Fighting 2.0 -
Quote:Yes, I have contemplated that eventuality, Techbot... and what I came up with, is that like Khelds use a sort of energy "echo" of forms that they have had, this dude could do similar... after discarding the body.I love the look and the concept...
Except for the part that he's yoinked Blue Spectrum's body. For one, if the Devs somewhere along the line decided to re-use Spectrum, as they did with the 'Extended tutorial' characters later on, then he's kind of a massive breach of canon (Yes, I know, RPers should shush >_> )
I also think maybe he could use a darker colour on the pattern? Right now it stands out a little too sharply from the others. But the red is great use of the three point rule, so kudos for that
Of course, that's only *if* the Devs ever decide to use him elsewhere.
Oh, and thanks a lot for the compliment on the costume (I will take the darker color idea into consideration). That is exactly the "rule" I was trying to apply there.

Quote:Really?Really? I'm kind of the opposite. I can't think of a single use for Bio Armor, save for making an Alex Mercer/Sil character.

Well, the first resource I would direct you to would be the in-game Pride channel, if you like that sorta thing.
Just type: /chanjoin Pride
It isn't specifically a Virtue-oriented chat channel, but there is a fairly large community of LGBT (+ the rest of the alphabet) folks who like to chat there. I am also under the impression that there is a fairly significant queer presence on Liberty, though I'd hate to sway your server choice.
As an aside, there seem to be a lot of gay folks playing this game (me and my boyfriend for two)... and I keep meeting more and more folks in-game. Must be the tights.
As for specific info about Virchoo? I can't help ya one bit, I have never played there. Hope some of the above helps you feel more welcome in CoH in general though! -
-
I expect members of my iTrial teams to know/do four things:
-- Pay attention to league chat (this of course assumes they know how to add it to a tab)
-- Follow directions
-- Ask questions about the method, or things you don't understand
-- Not give up, even if it looks bad; method is modifiable, suggestions can turn the tide (sometimes)
Beyond that, things are handled case by case. I will tolerate a different level of "goof off" and junior leadering on a normal run than an Mo run, for instance. Sometimes a leaguemate is well trusted, and I will let him co-lead... then I additionally expect the league to act accordingly when he says things.
As for some of your other questions, I value any valid suggestion. But when folks on a Magi run are yelling "don't die," well DUH! I'd prefer they just shutup, of course no one wants to die. That's like yelling "use powers."
I think that my point about asking questions covers most of the rest. If someone doesn't know what to do, or missed instructions during an AFK, don't guess what to do, or just stand there... ask! I think my biggest annoyance is when a league member refuses any responsibility in light of them "not knowing" something. Then bloody ask about it. For instance, using Lambda temps: it drives me bonkers that no one ever keeps their powers and insists on passing them off. How hard is it to click a button when the screen flashes WHEN to click it?
Related to the topic: I ran a Tin Mage the other day and tried for Hacker. I stated that, gave some instructions about waiting to enter the building, twice and then again later when someone asked and while we cleared Clockwork someone clicked the door the moment the last War Walker was down. Okay, whatever, people miss stuff... that wasn't too horrendous. However, when I stated that we missed the badge, and folks were supposed to wait, they chewed ME out for not saying anything. Moral of the story is, don't blame the leader because you can't read. Also, read the chat... and as I keep saying, ask if unsure. -
The dispersal of points, tokens and transfers is wonky to say the least.
Points generally arrive on or slightly before the billing date, tokens usually after toward the end of the month, and I haven't paid attention to the transfers in a while.
I believe Zwill has a post breaking it down, or is that the one you are referring to? -
I honestly hope not. That got pretty ridiculous in terms of how players reacted.
More like many players are incapable of waiting and develop entitlement issues. Things are released as Codewalker stated. I think the real problem is having all this stuff hit VIP Beta... I may have rarely been invited, but I miss Closed Betas... they don't seem to happen in the same way anymore. -
To me, any non-smashing and non-lethal damage type is "exotic." Plus, your conclusion (like your toxic analysis) comes from looking at a damage type in isolation. Compare all the damage types in the same way, good sir, and then we can talk about commonality and just how exotic or not something is.
Also, I have to agree that exotic-ness is not a binary thing, but on a continuum from Smash/Lethal to Fire to Energy to Psi to Cold to Dark to Toxic (or whatever the order would be... depending on how you tally it also). -
Quote:Not me... I am way more excited about Bio Armor than any of the rest of them. And I'm sure people all around are waiting for that one more than the rest of the sets they got coming out.
I like how you assume to somehow know what the rest of the playerbase wants.
Also, I have this strange gut feeling that these sets will be released during the span of Issue 24, not before it. The Summer Event is coming very soon, and I am not certain they will be releasing exciting stuff to detract from that event. I've been wrong before though.
