Easton's Badges - Both Together or Not?

You can earn both badges.
If you run the arc as you lvl up (not oro) you can get either badge for killing him, exit, then abandon teh next mission. It will reset a bit of the arc, and you can do it again, for the other badge.

I just discovered and ran Easton's arc in Steel and was awarded the badge for not killing whatsisname.
Now I am wondering, if I were to later flashback the arc and kill the guy to get the other badge, will I be able to keep the first badge and temp power, or are they mutually exclusive?
