Quote:If you didn't already know - PWIYFWhat are dual builds? At what level can I choose the crab powers? Man, I thought I can mix the power bane and crab powers lol.
Paragon Wiki Is Your Friend
Click on 'your' and 'friend' to answer your
two questions, they are seperate links
Can't mix Bane and Crab, but you can mix Crab and Soldier.... You can throw together an interesting all aoe all the time build (major downsides are endurance costs and redraw times.)
Once you reach lvl 24, you are made to respec, but now your lvl 1 powers can come from the Soldier, Crab, or Bane powersets. But the second you pick from either the crab or bane pools, you are locked into that one for the current build, and the other powerset is removed. leaving you with both Soldier powers and whichever (crab or bane) you chose. -

Well, the first part I'd imagine is a result primarily of differing social mores between most of Europe and North America. The latter of which tends to freak out a bit more over the depiction of a bare breast, for example. Plus, as far as I know PEGI and the ESRB are two separate entities charged with rating games based on their local social values. Most games at either end of the scale (suitable for everyone, only suitable for adults), will probably receive equivalent ratings from both organization, but the stuff in the middle will be more iffy.
And as far as the second part - I'd imagine the lower rating on the PEGI website was back from the original release of the game, where you were a hero fighting crime; but with CoV and later where you perpetrate the crimes, it warranted a higher age range. And the Website just never updated the rating on CoH to reflect the fact that it and CoV are now one and the same. -
Well, don't have much to offer, but I figure mebbe if one of the melee types use Electric Armor, and a controller uses Kinetics in addition to their mandated powerset, things will tie together nicely thematically (and who doesn't love a Kin on the team - boosting everyone's damage).
And, just putting this out there, but I can see how certain powersets might not fit the concept for your planned team, but of the "allowed" ATs, why do you get to be a defender? Just, you know - healing isn't that required if you have sufficient buffs from other sources, so is it necessary to have it 'covered'?
And as for other ATs... I could see things like elec/elec blasters and kin/elec Defenders/corruptors fitting in nicely...
Either way you'd probably be flinging around enough -end to choke a room full of GMs, so - have fun! -
Quote:I miss my wings with magic bolero.... wasn't thinking when I edited the costume, and sadness ensued.Nope, not a bug, that's WAI.
These costume parts are part of Going Rogue. If you don't have Going Rogue, you don't get the parts. They enabled your access to them during the Reactivation Weekend but the weekend is over. As long as you don't try to edit the costume slot that has the shoulder pads, you can keep them on that slot. The only way you will lose them is if you edit that slot and finalize the transaction. I know players that have characters with the Malaise pants that were removed in ... Issue 2 or 3 I think. They use their other 4 slots for costumes they edit but keep the slot with those pants unedited so that they can keep them. -
Tips for new powers if you want to keep the existing slotting on fitness after it becomes inerrant;
- Take powers that don't require much slotting to be useful (if you don't already have them).
- Teleport friend; doesn't require much beyond the default slot, and can be beneficial in a number of teaming situations.
- Hasten; If you don't already have it in your build, quite the useful tool (largest drawback is the glowing fists aura)
- Super Speed; if you have sufficient veteran status, you can pick it up without hasten, but even if it doesn't fit your concept for a main travel power - stick a stealth IO in it. you can now dance in the middle of most mobs without them noticing.
- Auto powers from your primary/secondary that you may have skipped due to tight builds, and low returns.
- Grab powers to use as global IO mules - in some cases, this might free up slots in the powers you use for more optimal slotting.
- If you haven't already, frankenslot your powers to get the same percentages out of your enhancements with fewer slots, freeing up a slot or two to use on these new powers.
- Take powers that don't require much slotting to be useful (if you don't already have them).

Dunno if the spawns were odd at the time or what (number of years back), but at one point in a nemesis mish, there were ~2 snipers per mob... didn't find it too problematic until one specific room in the lab tileset.... the room with the ramp up to the center platform with the raised walkway around it (usually 2 spawns on the platform, 4 on the walkway, and one or two on the ground behind the platform).
In retrospect, knowing the spawning tendency for the map up to that point should have been reason enough to not storm the center platform with my blaster. I ended up drawing the attention of every single sniper in the room (and a fair number of those jagger bots). -

Quote:This, this, a million times this.i think there should be a little "?" button to click on the search window that explains what the colors mean.
The colours are great! The colours can be of use! But if the ONLY way to know what they mean is to have the page open on another screen or alt tab, they are USELESS. How's a new player supposed to know what purple means? I have not seen anything in game that informs/reminds you. I have seen the list a dozen times, and I still cant remember what 80% of the colours mean when I start a game session!
Edit; also, made a suggestion some time ago -
Quote:... Um, unless I've missed something in the thread, you should only have one global name unless you have more than one account. If one of your chat tabs displays system messages (Global tab by default, I think), It should say "Using global chat handle @[yourglobalhere]" And it should be the same as your first character, by default.Hello all again. Just wanted to give you all a quick update. BlueMyth is now up to lv 5 I believe and he is on the Champion server. I have had so much fun even though champion seems to be a little too quite for my taste. Might be the time of day I am playing. I have decided to create my first alt named Deaths Menace on the Freedom server. He is a Villain of course. I am going to be switching back and forth but prob focusing on Death a little more then Blue for the time being. Both Global's are @Bluemyth and @Deaths Menace. I hope to see some of you guys in game. Until next time.

edit: And, although I'm a bit late to the thread, welcome to the game! Hope your stay is enjoyed! -
Lately I've just been using brawl to hold a single lvl20 dam/rech enhancement... one of the gamestop pre-order ones.
But if your talking a maximum of one extra slot for up to 2 IOs max, your options are limited:
- Bomesnap, Smashing Haymaker, Kinetic Combat, Focused Smite, Touch of Death, Crushing Impact, and Mako's Bite 2 slot bonuses are all Immobilize Resistance (1.1% to 3.3%)
- Pulverizing Fisticuffs gives you sleep resistance (2.2%)
- Bruising blow and Hectacomb give a recovery bonus (1% and 4%, respectively)
- Pounding Slugfest gives a regeneration bonus (8%)
- Gladiator's Strike also gives a recovery bonus (2.5%) and a max endurance increase in PvP (2.25%)
So unless you're really hurting for a little extra recovery or regeneration, I wouldn't bother to put just a single extra slot in brawl - just stick a single lvl50 IO of your choice in there and call it done. Also a good place to stick a Centriole Exposure HO, as a kind-of "I raided hami and all I got was this crappy Centriole" tshirt. -

I was recently on a STF where the tank (Inv/* i think), with a dedicated emp, could not stay alive, but we figured out a work-around. The tank taunted Recluse over to the statue, then started running around said statue, keeping agro, but for the most part keeping LOS broken. It worked. As an added bonus he kept the flier busy when it respawned halfway through a tower.

Quote:... not, "Hey! Listen!"?The last couple of issues have introduced major sound updates, and yes, I think the glowie got quieter.
Head down to this thread...
How to silence specific game sounds (or change them)
Substitute something not in game, like a barking dog.
I know of someone that changed theirs out for "Hey! Hey! Over here!" -
I don't know if this applies to everyone or not, but my alt account, being re-activated for the weekend, has access to the full range of GR costume pieces. Alt account does not have GR code applied to it, so it should not normally have these.
So... possible limited time GR costumes, get 'em while they last! -
Still haven't received mine... but I got two enhancement codes, so - whatever.

RE: Calvin Scott,
Wiki says Issue 4, so, May 2005
EDIT: I be slow -
At worst, I'd just start a running gag where Statesman and any of his counterparts knock low-threat minions off sufficiently tall structures, and then fly after them, never to be seen again.
We've already got one! -
I... just don't see it happening. Ages ago when he actually left, I could see it as being a symbolic move. But at this point, after so long, I wouldn't see it as symbolic as much as thumbing our collective noses at him.

Quote:All the same, might be worthwhile to run something like Malwarebytes and then change your passwords if you have any doubts.I was solo at the time, so I can rule this out. But good theory, I don't know if I would have thought of it.
This is what I was afraid of, but nothing else seemed amiss, and I don't know why someone would hack my account just to move a character halfway across the zone. Maybe I better check my other character's stuff, but for now I think I'll just assume I fell through a hole like Aett suggested. -
No it doesn't give people's preferences, or lack-there-of; but it does give an indication that, generally, at peak times there are twice as many players on blueside as redside. How many of those people are a shade of gray that can hop between sides at will is unknown. But where people were over a 4 day period was fairly consistent. A greater sample size across more days/time periods would be preferable, however.

Quote:And the tanks target can easily be determined, and attacked, by targeting/selecting the tank in the team window and hitting an attack (something ranged if the target is not next to you).(Note that Criticals such as Scourge and Containment typically don't have a text float since the duplicate damage number float indicates the critical went off. Also, Bruising doesn't have a text since it has a 100% chance of occuring, but it occurs to me it might be a good idea to add it anyway so the Tanker's target can be picked out and targetted in a pitched battle)
EDIT; Assist -
1) A bit, the defender's inherent (Vigilence) was recently modified to include a damage buff based on team size, in addition to the endurance discount for hurt teammates. And controllers have Containment, which allows them to do extra damage to mezzed foes.
But both are still low on damage output compared to other ATs, considering they fill a support role more than offense. That said, some powersets (usually anything fire) do tend to do extra damage as their secondary effect, and Kinetics is VERY good at boosting your (and the rest of your team's) damage output.
2) Not that bad, but a lot of people are rolling their new characters in Preatoria (going rogue). If population is a concern you might want to consider the Freedom and Virtue servers. The first has a bit of a reputation for attracting twits, and the second is the unofficial in-character roleplay server (roleplaying is not necessary, but you have been warned).
Any of the other servers are still perfectly fine too, and just remember, you don't have to necessarily team up with like-leveled characters. Super-Sidekicking ensures that all members of a team fight at the same effective level (+/- 1). Only thing you have to keep in mind is that a lvl 10 SKed up to lvl 40 might not have the tools to effectively deal with the threats lvl 40s regularly face, but the lvl 10 can still hold his own with some help.
3) This is still somewhat true... although individual tastes vary. Important levels to remember are lvl 12, when you can start slotting lvl 15 Dual Origins; and lvl 22, when you can start slotting lvl 25 Single origin enhancements. At lvl 30, common Invention Origins are about on par with even level SO, and lvl 35 IOs start surpassing SO effectiveness. IOs do not degrade as you level up.
Generally speaking, I think common wisdom for enhancing as you level involves slotting Training Origins as they drop (if at all), and selling the rest. Then at lvl 12 use dual origins to enhance accuracy (as beginners luck starts to fade), and the rest can be left to slotting what drops you get. Then around lvl 22, either start slotting common IOs or SOs; the SOs you need to replace every 5 levels or so, while the IOs you won't NEED to, but you'd want to start replacing them with higher level ones starting at lvl 32 as funds allow.
And you may want to read up on Enhancement Diversification. Essentially, slotting more than 3 of the same SO in a power is in most cases pointless. Common slotting for most attack powers is 2-3damage, 1-2accuracy, 1-2recharge, 0-1endurancereduction. Endurance and Recharge may switch importance depending on how often you use the power and how much endurance it costs.
4) you've probably noticed all of my links point to Paragon Wiki (http://wiki.cohtitan.com/ or http://www.paragonwiki.com/). It is the best resource on the game around. bookmark it. Specifically pertaining to your question here; an overview of the 18 issues of free content updates.

Kinda like how the pre-order enhancements only award to new characters, but if you haven't touched your second build, existing characters can get the enhancements by switching to a build that's effectively at security level 1.
