Balanced Static Team?

I'm drawing up an idea for an RP static team and need some advice on my choices for the team set up. The reasons I want to limit what AT's are use is because we are roleplaying a stranded alien race on earth whose powers are now manifesting. I would like for everyone's power sets to compliment one another for support and to maintain a beneficial balance, but I don't want certain AT to be use, like MM's. Since we are starting in Praetoria I want the group to use Kinetic Melee and Electric Control, but I don't want them using Demon Summoning and Dual Weapons.

In other words AT Allowed:

Scrappers, Tankers, Brutes and Stalkers as long as they use KM as Primary Power. And Dominators and Controllers as long as they select Electric Control as Primary Power.

I will be playing a Defender (Emp/Elec) so I will cover healing. But I'm wondering if my choice to limit the AT others will use any good and what other AT can I add to compliment the uniformity?

I can tell you from experience that having at least two Electric Control teammates will be great. My Elec/Rad teamed with my buddy's Elec/Elec Dominator through much of Praetoria, and stacking Endurance Drain is very effective. Plus, the double Static Field meant that the team was getting double Recovery.

Three would be even better. I would suggest an Elec/Rad Controller and then two Elec/whatever Doms, but an Elec secondary will further add to the endurance drain. Or you could go with two Elec/Rads and one Dominator if you feel you have enough damage. (An Elec/Rad controller does very little damage.) At that point, your damage dealers will be fighting statues after the first few seconds. The AoE Immob + Radiation Infection will almost be as good as a hold since they won't be able to move and won't be able to hit your team much. Plus, the Rad has AM and a back-up heal.

Well, don't have much to offer, but I figure mebbe if one of the melee types use Electric Armor, and a controller uses Kinetics in addition to their mandated powerset, things will tie together nicely thematically (and who doesn't love a Kin on the team - boosting everyone's damage).

And, just putting this out there, but I can see how certain powersets might not fit the concept for your planned team, but of the "allowed" ATs, why do you get to be a defender? Just, you know - healing isn't that required if you have sufficient buffs from other sources, so is it necessary to have it 'covered'?

And as for other ATs... I could see things like elec/elec blasters and kin/elec Defenders/corruptors fitting in nicely...

Either way you'd probably be flinging around enough -end to choke a room full of GMs, so - have fun!

Personally I wouldn't limit the ATs quite so much. You can make a balanced team with pretty much any AT combo and there are a lot of powersets that would fit with the general theme and open up the AT choices a bit (always a good idea when trying to recruit for a static team). Your proposal comes off less as an RP static team and more as a powerset based static team. Assuming that the RP theme is "aliens who have suddenly developed Electricity powers and/or Telekinesis" there are a lot of potential powersets you could use without breaking the theme that would open up Blasters, Defenders and Corruptors (Anything with Electric in the name would fit, plus Kinetics and maybe even Force Field).

I'll also second what The Grim Heaper said about the Empathy/Elec Defender. My first thought on reading that was "oh, it's a GMPC" and that is not something you want people to think when recruiting for a static team (obviously if you already have team members and they agree to it then it's different). You're adding an AT you declared "off-limits" for the rest of the team for the apparent reason of providing a powerset that one of the "allowable" ATs could just as easily provide (you could play an Elec/Empathy Controller instead).

Thank you all for the feedback.

The intention of limiting some AT is to make this race unique and I want the powers they use to reflect that idea. I want the powers to seem exclusive to the race, like a signature power, and yet everyone is different since one can select KM and EC for more than one AT and the option of secondary powers give the group a nice mixture. I thought that by asking people to pick KM and EC as primary powers would make more sense for the idea.

The reason I’m playing a defender is because my character is a robot programmed to nurture and mind for the race. So the idea I have in my head is a healer hence why I picked defender, but I like the idea of an Elec/Emp controller more and I think it would fit better without making my AT so exclusive. My concern as a whole is that I feared limiting the AT selection to what I propose would harm us when we set out to do TF’s, SF’s, or fight against some random named boss etc.

That shouldn't be an issue. You might be a bit slow against enemies with highish energy resistance but pretty much any content can be done with single AT teams if necessary, and honestly, buff/debuff sets are so good if you stack at least a couple of controllers with a suitable selection of sets the similarity of other sets won't matter much.
