Technically, no. The Box is less a power source and more of a power sink. While closed the Box drains "potential" from the world, storing it, opening the box returns the world to its natural "super" state.

That was stated in the first novel but every other source of lore (second novel, comics, in game lore, and Manticore's lore thread) contradict it.

When I17 hit, any character that logged in had thier power customization reset for all but the first costume slot, a later patch was suppose to fix it so you can bug it if you're still expirencing it. As to the costume tokens we got the standard one per opened slot when the I17 went live and, as I understand, another set when the fix went live.

He grew up in America raised by an Austrian immigrant. I've always just assumed that the difference in Reichman's past was that Rudolf Richter had more loyalty to his homeland than on Primal Earth causing his adopted son to join the Central Powers.

Quote:Brickstown should have a zone event that matches up with Breakout. Have the Arachnos Flier show up, then spawn some of the named Bosses, EBs and AVs.Sounds like it could be a cool event. Not sure about PI, since Brickstown already has the Zig, which is the definitive Super-prison in Paragon (and, I believe, the entire East Coast at least). But a periodic event as you described in Bricks would probably improve the zone's popularity a little. Perhaps draw from a pool of existing faction AVs using GM/level 0 rules so everyone can take part, not just 50s.

Quote:The origin description in the character generator reads:A
Also, it really needs to be clearer in the character generator because you are right a huge number of people assume it means "normal" human.
Quote:You aren't 'super' at all; your amazing talents come from intense training and innate abilities. You might have been driven to physical excellence by some all-encompassing desire for perfection or revenge, or perhaps you are not human at all, and possess powers natural to your race. With your natural origin you have to rely on your cunning and skill. -
I almost took Yofiel on virtue a week or 2 back but went with Jophiel instead.

Quote:According to the calendars, Manticore's birthday is December 12, 1968 putting him at 17 in 85, which if I recall correctly is about the time the second novel is set.Yes, but a younger contemporary. Bloodlines part 1 (TopCow comic #7) shows part of their backstory. Page 10 has BABs noting that it had been 20 years when they first worked together. Manticore 1 asks BABs if he's married, so assume BABs is a minumum of 18 at their meeting. The comic publishing date was Dec 2005, so assuming a rule of thumb that comic stories run a Earth Prime date parallel to our own (see the wedding stories both in comics and first in-game as proof of this), then BABs and Manticore 1 first worked together in 1985. Assuming BABs was born in 1960 and put the Regulators together at age 19 in 1979, then he was roughly 25 when Manticore 1 and he first worked together.
Now what puzzles me with that is why Justin, Manticore 2, did not understand all that happened to his parents. He certainly wasn't in his low 20s when he married Shalice. I'm thinking at least 30, which would put him at least 10 years old assuming his dad died in 1985. Older if later.
I'm going to stop now. My head is hurting from tossing all these numbers around. lol -
Banes have Commando, Scout and Executioner, crabs get Slicer, Longfang and Webmaster
Quote:Also, what if it's a female? Would "Huntsman" change to "Huntsmistress" or something like that? "Huntswoman"? -
Just downloaded it to double check and yes it has options for music and world/supergroup base textures.

City of Heroes Splasher I believe.

Quote:There are 2 pieces of conflicting data on how all Sister Psyche is. First we have the Freedom Phalanx novel which puts her as 16 during Nemesis's VE Day invasion and then we have the Calender Wallpapers on the CoH webs site which list Shalice's birth day as July 13, 1920.Was thinking much the same.
Assuming both Shalice versions are of the same age, then we're looking at characters at least dating to 1930, and seeing as Shalice has been referred to "over 80" since the start of the game (I assume), then her birth might be closer to 1920. That said, Praetorian Shalice, battles in the Devouring Earth wars, joins Cole, and later receives her Praetorship at age 22. Does that mean then that the Hamidon Wars were in the 1930 or possibly 1940s? If so, apparently there was no WWII, like Prime Earth knew it, and therefore was no 5th Column?
Something sounds really off.
As to when the Hamidon Wars started, the Korean War is mentioned in Tyrant's Bio as predating it, so presumably sometime after 1950.
Also Tyrant's bio seems to place the current date as 25 years after the end of the war (1985) at which point Mother Mayhem is less than 22 so it would seem she couldn't have been born any earlier the 1963. -

You might also check which version you have. If I recall correctly the I17 release had a bug which caused some powers to double their effects and I believe it was fixed in the newest version (1.707).

Quote:Probably about as significant as the fact he's wearing a 1960s version of the Arachnos chest piece. He seems designed to be a red herring.Dr. Aeon and Silmon:
Have we all noticed that Leonard's gloves are identical (outside of color) to Aeon's signature gauntlets... Does this mean anything? Also, is it significant that the gauntlets shift from pure black at some points in the arc to black with blue piping (similar to Aeon's white with blue piping) and then back to black again? -
Quote:Actually only one of the novels (Web of Arachnos) makes the claim that the gods were only empowered mortals, Freedom Phalanx has Statesman making the claim that the spirit of Zeus is in fact living in him.No, there are competing and contradicting mythologies in the CoH universe if you include the comics and novels to be canon.
The novels make it clear that the gods were humans empowered by Pandora's box. The age of the Greek gods was simply a previous era of superheroes who were thought of and worshipped as gods. The Three Sisters were the only ones who remained to the present day, but their origin is that they were empowered humans.
It's not that Cole received the 'spirit' of Zeus, but Zeus, Imperious, and Cole all received the same form of empowerment which is named after the first or most famous guy to receive it, Zeus.
Quote:If the Greek gods really were gods... where are they now?
Quote:Question: What happened to the Greek gods in the CoH lore? Were they real beings of supernatural power or people who were lucky enough to find the well and gain powers and were immortal for a few centuries until they just faded away? And if that be the case does that mean Statesman's power is temporary as well?
Answer: In the CoH universe the gods of the Greek and other pantheons are real beings of great power. In ancient times they took a much more active role in mortal affairs until their actions and conflicts threatened to destroy the world itself. Pacts were made, oaths were given, and accords were reached. Statesman and other Incarnates are one representation of these agreements and serve as the avatars of the gods. Their powers are not temporary and in most cases are no longer even directly dependent on the gods themselves. Although what would happen to something like Statesmans Lightning of Zeus power if Zeus were to somehow be eliminated thankfully remains an unanswered question.
Most of the gods agreed to operate through chosen champions instead of manifesting directly.
Of course some of the gods are unwilling to be bound by any such agreements and threaten this delicate balance. Even some mortals refuse to abide by the ancient covenants as is in evidence with the servants of the Banished Pantheon.
Quote:And all that from the novel clearly contradicts the in-game mythology that there are supernatural entities called gods.
Quote:Question Every franchise has its rules of canon and I'm assuming that City of Heroes is no exception. While I'm very interested in the lore of the City, I'd first like to know what sources are considered canon. The game itself is a given but are both volumes of the comic canon? The novel(s)? Heroclix info? Trading cards? Are any licensed products so far off the mark that they have to be ignored?
Also, if a player asks a question that has no real definitive answer but you decide to speculate, is that speculation canon? Will you be deciding certain details of the lore on the spot or are you limiting yourself solely to sourced material, even if it is unpublished developer's notes?
Answer: These types of questions come up a lot and although weve answered them in various incarnations it seems to bear repeating. The game itself is always the primary source of canon. Official posts on our website such as the timeline of the game are also canon. Our ancillary products (books, comics, games) can be considered canon but due to the fact that they are oft times created by people outside our studio and need to bend to accommodate their own needs they are a secondary source. We do our best to make certain everything meshes but if contradictions come up, this thread is the perfect place for you to point it out and get clarification.
Finally, it is important to note that if there is speculation in one of these answers it comes out of a discussion between many of the devs but is not necessarily instant canon. Its safer to treat a comment like no one is certain or it is theoretically possible as a teaser rather than canon. We will definitely define and add to the canon in these answers, just not every time. -

Yes, all 3 of the ninja booster swords are tintable. Also, it appears the new pistols haven't been added yet.

He probably did mean the game card pack, but that one only looks similar to the Goldbrick pack in that it has a fan in it's design, and I can't help but hope I missed a way to get a renewable Goldbrick pack. As to the Jet pack vendors, both, to my knowledge, sell Raptor Packs.

Sadly no, during one of the interviews about the change to Electric Armor, they said they were swapping the order for Tanks and Scrappers because they felt Energize came too late but unfortunately couldn't do it for Brutes and Stalkers.

Newest version (1.707) has:
With Health + 2 level 50 IO's = 173% regen.
With Health + 2 level 50 IO's + Numina's Unique = 193% regen.
With Health + 5 IO's = 185% regen.
With Health + 5 IO's + Numina's Unique = 205% regen.
version 1.706 was the same, no idea for before that.
