As i recall the spirits the Tsoo sorcerers bind to serve them aren't actually their ancestors, but it suits their purposes to present them as such. It's quite possible the Tsoo are concerned about an ascendant Mot enslaving/consuming them and their ancestors' spirits regardless. i don't recall offhand what reason is given for the Tsoo presence in the current Dark Astoria.

As far as i know you just get a bonus for clicking them all, it doesn't have any real effect on the mission itself.

Quote:i have a couple felinoid Brutes named Feral Catgirl who are the product of scientific research. The one on Virtue is a WM/SR who use the leg bone mace and the one on Justice is SJ/EA. They aren't actually shapeshifters (yet?), but hybrids halfway between human and feline. They're about as cute and cuddly as a large, aggressive apex predator given human intelligence coupled with superhuman speed and strength would usually be.THIS was what I was asking for :P If the playerbase of CoX has agreed on a definition to what to call animal shapeshifting in-game, hence my examples above. But fair enough, I will have to be creative of the format it seems :P
FYI, we're talking about a fighter that gains the ability to shapeshift into a feline animal (as of yet I cannot decide which one :/) from the chemicals of the Shivan Invasion (SJ/SR, thought that'd be more interesting for a shapeshifter than the typical claws/whatever) and decides to use this power to help Paragon City. I just wanted to be sure of whether there was a common phrase in the CoX world to call it, so I wouldn't need to think of one myself :P -

Quote:From a mechanical standpoint the wolf run form would have to lock out other powers like Rocket Board does, so that's a pretty safe bet.Instead of making the wolf a useless non combat pet, they easily could have made it a shapeshift travel power. Click and you turn to a wolf with eg. ninja run stats. No one would have complained then.
On the other hand if you could use all the wolf's emotes in the shifted form i would buy it an instant. If a "Mark Territory" emote was added as well i would be in full "shut up and take my money!" mode. -
Quote:Yeah, i actually want to see that now.Unfortunately that method does not work as well with the programs I have been using, they automatically apply transparency to much of the picture and rely on the first frame for the non-moving background areas. I've tried it, it just comes out looking wonky. I tried 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2, skipping the 'background' frame, and it turns out... well, maybe I'll post a version. It gets a little psychedelic with motion trails and stuff.

i'm betting on finally getting an Apocalypse Pony.

Even more obviously they didn't bother to read the thread in its entirety before necroing it.
If you aren't going to bother resurrecting a thread properly why do it at all? Most necro posts are shambling mockeries of the original thread, and considering the quality of many necroed threads that sets the bar impressively low. -
Don't forget that you'll also be able to play the "Run around and get killed by zombies" arc at 14. So both arcs of those arcs will be available, but you will lose the "Run around at level 1 to 13 and get killed by zombies" arc.

Fortunately variations on this idea have been proposed at least five times in the past year alone, so they've has plenty of chances to look at it.
This proposal is actually one of the less fleshed-out proposals i've seen. Some of the other proposals have actually crunched out the numbers to a far greater degree. The problem, as has already been mentioned in this thread, is that powers are balanced against each other within a set far more than they are balanced against powers in other sets or by tier. So either every set available to the AT would have to be tweaked for balance (which would be an example of non-trivial computation) or the suggestion of adding lower caps would need to be used. Lower caps would mostly result in an AT that would have mediocre performance on teams in every role compared to every other AT.
It's not impossible to balance all the set combinations, but even just working with two types of sets, like ranged and buff/debuff, it would probably be more work than creating a new AT from scratch. Doing it for every AT would be as much work as creating the same number of ATs.
Kheldians were pretty much an early attempt at doing something like this by combining powers from multiple sets and ATs with some new powers thrown in, but were so heavily nerfed that Peacebringers are still average after multiple buffs to the AT. Warshades are actually quite powerful when played to their strengths, but their power is fairly situational.
Anyway, it's an interesting idea, but not likely to happen. We're far more likely to get a new AT with branching sets like the VEATS or new sets that allow you to change attack damage/debuff/mez types like Dual Pistols and Staff Melee do. -
Well, yes you did. But statement that only applied to subscribers/VIP players who get full access to the game, and aside from temporary trials were the only type of players that existed when the box was released. VIPs automatically get access to all that now anyway.

i've had Scrapyard despawn on me a couple times while i was attacking him. Generally solo, and the character didn't have the debuffs/DPS to actually defeat him, but just wanted to see how tough he would be to fight. It's annoying five minutes in to have him vanish and all the scrapyarders run away.
And there was at least one time i was on a team and we started pounding on him and he promptly ran up the hill straight into the Arbiter drones. -
Quote:Actually to me the fog and ghosts are what give DA its style and beauty. i've seen it with the fog stripped away and it's not that different from combining Skyway without the elevated highways with the more wooded parts of The Hollows; just add extra tombstones. The fog and ghosts give it a very effective spooky ambiance i'd hate to see gone, and this is speaking as someone who has repeatedly teleported through the zone with a fair bit of frustration.I'll add the counterpoint opinion to most of what I'm seeing here...
I don't care for the fog. It can go bye-bye and I'll not miss it. It makes using Teleport a massive pain in the rear end. It hides any style or beauty the zone might have (if it has any).
I won't be bothered if it does stay, but I'd actually be glad for it to be gone.
At the least i hope the revamp has similar ambient effects in part of the zone if not all of it. -
i was saddened when i read about this. Although i hadn't read any of her novels in years i had quite enjoyed them when i did.

Quote:This is pretty much my take on it as well. i'm nowhere near superhuman and i can pretty easily force most household doors open with a little exertion.* Kryptonians have human equivalent strength when their bodies aren't being supercharged by solar energy, although it obviously also enhances other capabilities beyond raw strength and durability. The weightlifter example is also a good one.Why do people assume it's hard for Superman to pull his punches or handle people?
Do you do everything at full strength? Well neither does Superman. He just happens to have a higher threshold if he's ACTUALLY trying but his 'normal' range is pretty much the same as ours.
If I was picking something it's natural for me to do it with the minimum amount of force, not the maximum. This is why I don't end up throwing things about with wilful abandon, regardless of weight or size. Every living organism has evolved to do things with the minimum amount of effort because this is the best way to survive.
This is how I do it for Kumi, my super strong hero. Their involuntary reactions are the same strength as a regular humans, but the potential for stronger things is there. She didn't even KNOW she had superstrength until events conspired to give her the chance to actually try that hard.
*That one night i got dropped off home after drinking and couldn't get my keys to work was a bit embarrassing. i got annoyed and just pushed the door open. i fixed the frame the next morning, but still... embarrassing. It's a good thing i know how to build and repair stuff. It's also why i generally don't drink a lot. My solutions to problems become a bit too linear. -
That would be my guess as well. The Devs almost certainly know, but they're also extremely unlikely to tell us in advance.

i'm especially interested in knowing whether they mentioned anything about what's in store for Doms.

Quote:Oh yes. So true. You can't be a stone armor claws brute either.
Stone Armor is just full of disappointments, really...
Don't you just love how those people with ESP, able to tell exactly what you're thinking or what they want. I bet you're a hit with the ladies (or guys, however you swing), able to give 'em just what they're looking for every time...
A big round of applause, ladies and gents, he'll be here all day. (No one else will take him.)
Try the veal.
(True, i did make the base error of thinking that someone's posts on a topic might give some insight into their thoughts about it, possibly even some of those not expressly stated. Strange, really. Of course that doesn't mean i'm completely accurate, and i may misconstrue some things, but not having any ESP yourself you have absolutely no way of knowing my thoughts on the matter either, yes? In fact i might suggest your characterization was completely thoughtless.) -
Quote:No, no, he's saying that's all you'll be, but you mustn't be too strong or too weak while doing it.So you're saying I can't be a stone armor fire blaster? Spoil sport!
In some ways the OP reminds me of a more generalized, less narrowly focused Johnny_Butane.
Basically he wants a tankmage that can be made with no effort or restrictions on theme. There are plenty of ways to do that before the late thirties, but they all require too much work.
Despite his denials what it really comes down to is that the OP wants a ranged Scrapper.
And if he gets what he wants i'll make one too, but i won't bother pretending that it's anything but what it is. -

Thanks VK, i missed a lot of the audio in the first part.

So it wasn't just the Ustream camera that made the screen hard to see, it was genuinely washed-out and unclear to most people? Boo. i was so hoping attendees would have some really clear shots of the presentation.
-
Sweet! The angle of the camera to the presentation screen made it so that the Ustream view was washed-out and most text was nearly unreadable or completely unreadable.
Really looking forward to attendees posting pictures where i can actually see something.
