Ok I've not had an opportunity to check but here are some synonyms for "Contract":

Deal, Commission, Arrangement, Covenant, Bond, Negotiate, Undertake, tighten, shorten, wither

    Enjoy

The very concept that what I'm reporting could perhaps be an issue in my area is something that never seems to enter their thought process. Though thinking about it, crediting them with anything as sophisticated as a thought process might be overdoing it a little.

Well can't speak for your experience but mine is very different and I usually find them knowledgeable and helpful.

And there was much rejoicing .

That's great to know Z, but the question remains... will the special offer be extended to take the problem into account?
  4. Given that there's a known issue with transferring EU characters to NA servers since the merge are there any plans to extend the half-price offer to compensate for lost time?

    Game Dead?

there seems to be a serious trans-Atlantic issue. I get great ping and download speeds from UK and the EU but anything stateside is lag hell at the moment. My ISP (Virgin) suggested it's a backbone issue but haven't gone so far as to suggest a remedy. But it's been happening to a lot of people across a number of games/worlds it seems depending
  6. Rampant Speculation is speculation.

So long as whatever further offering doesn't include mad holes in the ground, millions of extra dimensions and tin pot megalomaniacs I'll be happy(er)
  7. ... but it was worth it.

Yeah my global got changed. I've had it since like day 5 or something. Long time and I was attached to it. It got changed.

Let's put that in context for a moment. We, in the EU, we got what we wanted. We've *******, moaned, whined, slated the Devs and griped generally cuz we got the end of the stick you wouldn't give to your best mate.

    They listened.

We got what so many of us wanted.

What's even better is that many of our transatlantic colleagues are coming here to join us. This is a really exciting moment in the history of the game. We should celebrate. The cost of a change of our login name or global is very small and the benefits of the global server access are far greater for us in the EU than for our NA friends.

Could Paragon have handled this more sensitively? Surely they could, but ultimately it is what it is and here's something I genuinely believe:

I believe that the Devs and CCs of Paragon Studios had to fight a very big fight with the bean counters of NCSoft to make this happen. This took the money men a lot of convincing to make happen because their argument would simply be "where's the profit?"

But you know what? War Witch promised us a year or more back that she would make this happen. She did - and for that she and the entire dev & CC team should seriously get some praise and props for this. The EU get like 120+ FREE character slots - and we're already making use of them. The US get 48 if they wanna be adventurous.

We all win and inevitably there would be a price to pay in doing this. We in the EU are the little cousin so we will be the ones to take a bit of a hit when it comes to a choice but think of this this way - on a new server, with your account it's day one. If you'd bought the game today and chosen that name and it was taken you'd find one that wasn't. Our characters have not changed. Nor have we as players. We continued to be identified by those we want to associate with. Some adjustments must be made but they are minor in the grand scheme of things.

Many of you know I tell it like I see it and if I think the Devs drop the ball I don't mince my words expressing my opinion. I'm not mincing my words here either and I'm saying this loud and clear:

War Witch and the Dev Team - I spent a long time doubting you on this but in truth I am truly truly moved because you made this happen and I thank all of you who had a part in making this possible.

    Thankyou from @Riffster

  9. I've not read every thread here but I've seen some good ideas

for my CoH2 I'd do the following:

Freeform characters: Pick whatever power you like, so you can have a blaster with an axe and holds and really mix and match. Get so many points to spend on powers and a range of differernt powers for a given number of points.

Fewer powers (Far too many in this game now) but many different options for them such as look and feel and animations and colour and an ability to improve powers as you increase in power.

Updated character models (that kind of goes without saying that any game releasing will have the best models for its game at release) but the existing CoH models are very dated now

A "Personal Difficulty Slider" that you can set which affects your difficulty, regardless of whether you're on a team or solo - and one that rewards you for pushing the boundaries.

Better stories with far less reliance on alternate dimensional codswallop! One SINGLE universe is plenty for a good story teller.

Much better social interaction - and an ability to actually sit down without looking like a zombie on amphetamines.

    Destructible environments

A story that moves froward and affects the entire game world in a meaningful way

  11. I had to use a huge amount of thought and imagination to change from @Riff to @Riffster

I wish I'd read Dante's post first cuz I'd have changed it to Epic Facepalm if I'd had my wits about me ;-)

Don't you need the Alpha Slot unlocked first?
  15. I remember feeling especially aggrieved a couple of xmas' back when we were all given a bunch of free server transfers. I got slammed by some for saying it favoured our American players much more than any from the EU, (and Paragon Studios got slammed in equal measure) the point did reach home - and I hope was at least partly instrumental in driving forward the process which is resulting in the GSA.

Personally I don't think now is a good time for free server transfers. I'm actually pretty sure the discounted cost of transfers is a tad premature but here's why: When GSA finally comes, I don't know where I'm going to go. I've got some friends on Liberty and I want to check out some other servers but where will I finally come to rest? I can't say.

Give it a few months and I'll have a much better idea of where I want to make my "second home" (No chance I'll ever give up Defiant) and given that I'll have plenty of slots to play with to test the waters, any transfers right now could potentially be wasted.

Maybe what would be a very nice gesture would be for Paragon to think about revisiting the free server transfer idea in the autumn or perhaps xmas - once people know where they want to hang out the most and have a feel for all the different server vagaries!

    Here's hoping.
  16. This is a lovely gesture but might I respectfully suggest that it is a tad premature, especially for the European community.

My thinking is simply that many Europeans especially have already maxed out the servers they (can) play on. What I expect many from both sides of the community to do is to have a mooch around on the new territories and see where they fit well and then make homes there - that's when the new slots would be most welcome I'd guess, say a month after the Great List Merge.

I suspect that's one of the things they were trying to fix initially.

Even tho it's annoying the spontaneous logout bug is far less annoying simply because you can access the forums and contribute

And to update, the last 24 hours have been (almost) lag free

It doesn't matter that a Rogue Stalker can't start missions in Founders, he can still team with a blaster and the content can still be run with ALL ATs now. So yeah, it's all co-op. Maybe certain people can't initiate some missions, maybe the missions aren't written with a great co-op story, but when you can run a team of Mixed Villain and Hero ATs in any zone, it's for all game play purposes, co-op.

And that in itself is a problem IMO. It means there's no difference. It's just a marginally different shade of grey. The only difference now is where you start and your AT, which means the impact of the story is significantly reduced.

They just pulled back the fix that fixed the old lag and created new lag worse than old lag, which removes the new lag that's worse than old lag and gives us back the old lag, which, while still being lag, is not as bad as new lag.

    Did I get that right?

You did Sir and a place on the MCC has just become vacant for you!!!
  21. I hope it does get fixed soon cuz the Eden trial is great with a good team
  22. I reckon it was a Nemesis plot to swap the forum engine oil for treacle

I know how hard you guys have been working to fix this and it is vastly improved compared to how it has been for me at least - much appreciated.
  23. it's not the fact we need new content but it's simply that the incarnate content, compared to what has gone before, is shudderingly sub-standard - the only things that are less good are maybe the Shadow Shard TFs because they are horrible time sinks that were added to take time out the game when there was a lot less to do.

They have several problems but the biggest is they are way too short, the missions lack importance for the level of character and the stories are pretty poor, especially BAF. That's before we get onto rewards... several unwanted or un-needed new currencies. Plus the rewards from those trials make the existing content near meaningless. Whereas an ITF could be made to be a challenge it's mostly horribly boring as we was a succession of judgements vaporise lag hill.

This game was so much better before end game. New content will not fix that

I'm really liking what I've seen. Excellent job Plenty more to come I hope
  25. hey Rogues peeps!

Just popped in to say many congrats on your first anniversary. As a net radio veteran I know how tough it can be to keep a station going - apparently most stations don't last to three months so a year is a great achievement!

Keep up the good work and long may you continue!
