Well of Furies Motivations

Ok, I've finally done all Praetorian arcs, the Incarnate content multiple times, the Mender Ramiel arc and all the new TF/SFs.

Given that, I still do not have a clue what's the motivation behind the Well of Furies. At first, it seems the Well of Furis is attracted to power and dynamic individuals. It seems to be capricious, teasing you with possibilities of infinite power if it favors you. But then it disappears and makes you take the long path.

Yet, in the description to Issue 20: Incarnates, the copy reads the Well of Furies "appears" to be "mad" because it is backing Tyrant.

Beyond it being the primary game design vehicle to increase our characters' abilities, I don't have a good grasp of the place the Well of Furies has in the overall plotlines for CoH. Is it part of the Coming Storm? Is it the Coming Storm? Are there clues I'm missing?

The Well is looking for the most powerful person/people in the multiverse to protect it from the Coming Storm - it's chosen Tyrant as its champion, but we need to show it that we'd be better at protecting the multiverse than he would be - and as it only responds to power, we have to show it that we're more powerful than Tyrant and his loyalist thugs

The Well of Furies empowered Statesman, Lord Recluse and Hero 1. Mender Ramiel has come from the future saying that if we don't try and harness the powers of The Well, the world will end in "The Coming Storm". That's when Mender Ramiel sends us off to try and find it.

The reason The Well has chosen Tyrant is because it knows Tyrant will want more and more power and that Tyrant will use the power The Well gives him. Statesman, however, is content with his level of power and so The Well is disappointed in him. Lord Recluse seeks more power, but in a way that severs his link with The Well because he knows it can control him.

Hero 1 was mutated by the Rikti, but he still maintains more of his old self than almost anyone else subjected to that process. That strength of will earns Hero 1 the Well's respect, as it reflects the Well's priorities.

Ok, is that in a story arc I'm missing? Because every context I'm getting, the Well isn't afraid of anyone. Its just attracted to dynamic individuals which it wants to control in some way. Or fashion.

I'm also disappointed with Statesman. Pansy.

The well is like Curly from the three stooges, it's kind of rolling around on the ground going "wub wub wub wub wub." It's insane, dontcha know. That means it's a more convenient deus ex than most, since it can do whatever the heck the writers feel like making it do, and they don't even have to bother justifying its actions, because, insane.

It's not been revealed in-game yet - but it has been very strongly hinted at by the devs during one of the UStream broadcasts

Sounds like most of my ex-girlfriends.
