Could this possibly be the old "supergroup colors overwriting your color choice" issue? Are you in SG mode? What are the SG colors?

I haven't looked to see if prices have fallen significantly, but up until the announcement, the BOTZ -KNB IO was selling for 100+ million a pop. I agree that it might still be useful, but I'm not sure it's "budget."

Quote:Yeah, your list of characters doesn't show Earth or Ice Control (somewhat similar in playstyle) and Storm is conspicuously absent. Earth/Storm just leaps out at me.Earth/Storm Controller - Storm can be a daunting set to get the feel of but once you do the powers are terrific. Add to that the wonderful utility of Earth control and you end up with a well rounded beast of a controller.
Very useful on teams. Not so much solo though.
As an aside; In your 6 years in Paragon what build is your all time favorite and why? -

IMHO Ice Control and Sonic Resonance make a visually pretty combo. Especially if you customize the sonic ally shields to something other than orange. You can make a glistening, sparkly character, who looks like Winter itself, and things like Ice Slick and Sonic Dispersion allow you to spread the graphical joy over lots of terrain.
And you'll have multiple knockdowns (the top-tier Sonic power does knockdown, right? Never used it). That's always comical. -
Quote:See, in this situation, you're supposed to be the mezzer, not the mezzee. "Do unto others" should be the Controller mantra -- nail them and then it doesn't matter what they could theoretically do to you if you permitted it.1) A baddie just has to yell 'peekaboo' at me, and I stand still, mezzed for the next 30 second. Seriously, my battle cry is now 'Anyone got any purples?'
I haven't farmed with a Fire/Kin, so it may be that you're going so fast you don't bother to lay out controls and lock everything down...but generally that's how Controllers deal with mezz in the rest of the game (the non-high-speed-farming part). If you're not using controls (or you're overrunning them or moving on while they're recharging) your options are three: lotsa breakfrees, Indomitable Will and lots of recharge, or a buddy (either to tank for you or buff you with mezz protection like Clear Mind.) -

Usually I'm happy to have warm bodies and am not picky, and it sometimes surprises me when people are.

Every single time I open my global friends list and sort it somehow -- typically the most useful sort is by "shard" since that brings up the friends who are online and groups them by server at the same time -- after a few seconds, it re-sorts itself automatically, immediately scrambling the list I had just begun reading. Usually it move all the names down into the bottom of the windowm out of sight, and puts inactive players in my view.
I can fix this by applying another sort, But it's an irritation each and every time I log on. Why does it do this? Is there some kind of purpose to it? Do other people experience this? Is there a fix or workaround? -
Storm, for any AT that can have it.
Ice, Electric, Kinetic and even Gravity can also be used to simulate wind powers.
I feel Gravity/Storm might be an interesting choice; the transparent holds in the Gravity set could represent Wind, and two of the main attacks in the set are wind-like -- Lift tosses the enemy up and down, and Propel hurls debris into him and hits very hard. -
Quote:I guess. On a recent task force, a Stormie followed my Scrapper around, keeping O2 boost stacked on him as much as possible. It was nice to have someone trying to look out for me, but there's got to have been a better use of that player's time.I don't view O2 boost as a heal (although it can heal in an emergency). What it is instead is a rather versatile defensive buff. Against Carnies it provides Endurance drain resistance to Tanks and Scrappers. Against Malta it provides Stun protection to Squishies. Against Arachnos it provides extra perception to see through Smoke Grenades. It can heal, but as you noted it doesn't do it very well, it does however provide several useful and somewhat obscure resistances.

Quote:Right. And not to be argumentative, but the idea that you would cite market prices as evidence that your particular server is underpopulated doesn't instill confidence in knowledgeable readers regarding the accuracy of the rest of your observations. It occurs to me that all this chatter about why not to or why to consolidate servers is done in a vacuum sans data. I, anecdotally, sense a change in activity level on my server: Prices of IOs and salvage surge to levels higher than I have seen before (at one point 10 million for some rares, a one time 250 million sale of an lvl 50 Obliteration rare)

I ran a search and pored over the results without recognizing what I was looking for -- is there a preferred place to request a specific type of animated tail be added? I realize it may be too late for new suggestions to make it into this issue, but I'd like to politic for a few types of tails to be added somewhere down the road. What's the most useful/least offensive place to do that?

BaB said he would work on allowing some customizations currently exclusive to Katana, Broadsword, and/or Dual Blades to be used the the other sets. So you could use a Rularru Katana as your Broadsword, and so on. Still in the works, I believe.
I would really like to get the big Arabian scimitar Broadsword for Dual Blades. -
Quote:Great concept!Well, one of my characters, Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Jive transforms between two distinct forms -- a small scientist and a huge hulking black man with a fro. They are differently sized, costumed, and most importantly have totally different color schemes. Why should they have the same voice?
Sorry to pick a nit, but you make it sound lkike the character used to be able to do these things and lost the ability. But, as I understand it, the ability to color chat bubbles in binds was lost long before the Science booster pack gave the ability to transform between two distinct body types, so this particular character wouldn't have been able to have multiple body types and alternating chat colors at the same time, right? -
O2 Boost.
I find utility in having both Snow Storm and Quicksand, but I also find I am far too busy "doing unto others" to bother with watching teammates' life bars and trying to guess who needs it, is not timing his own heal, and will not be healed by one of my better-healing teammates anyway. Besides, healing is common, and O2 is a weak heal. I skip O2 and spend my efforts disabling the enemy rather than putting touch-up paint on my friends. -
I'd certainly take a resistance IO out of True Grit or a defense LOTG out of Combat Jumping to put a sixth slot on Fireball. Positron's Blast leaves several values low enough it's really worthwhile having another slot, assuming Firebakk isn't just being used as an IO mule.

Definitely trying to get typed defense, at least 3 Erads' worth.
Levels -- Erads cap at 30; I generally try to get set bonuses around 30-35 to permit some exemping, so I cranked the non-Erads to the top of my customary range, 35, for better enhancement.
