Quote:This afternoon I landed in the street after a jump that coincided with a horn blow and my first instinctive thought was "Aw, blow it out your #$%." Which then caused me to giggle at the absurdity.
Wait until you have to stand in the traffic circle with Ghost Falcon on P.I. for a half-hour upgrading all your expired Enhancements.
Won't be a-gigglin' then, I betcha.

Quote:Nobody's gonna bust your chops for "spamming/cross-posting" - honest mistake on your part, go ahead and get your post up and get some help asap.Ahh... I see it there now. I've been rather away from the forums since the format change, my browser doesn't like it and CoH has been cooperative until recently. (And I haven't been following powers in other sets since I've been obsessing with my blaster who needs just 3 more parts to finish the 7th purple set.)
Since I don't want to spam/crosspost I'll wait a few days before I repost it there. Who knows, maybe the right person will wander by here... -

Now that you're all squared away, can we make this a Farming Debate thread?
I'll start: lolFarming -
Georgie, you'll have better luck posting this question in the Technical Issues & Bugs section - this section is more for Questions like "At what level can I get a cape?"
-
Double this! I was just thinking that, as I read through the thread.
But I also like that it's a special thing for the holiday season. I wouldn't want to see it become too everyday.
And to the OP, I've encountered a number of situations (well..ok, a few anyway) where I would have liked to have been able to "gift" a jetpack/jumppack to a lowbie friend (or complete stranger), once I had one and didn't need another, or had some other travel power (like on a Kheld) and didn't need it at all.
That's what's nice about the recipie, I can give it to someone who will really use it, rather than it going to waste. -
Quote:That is absolutely Zombie_Man's map - tho I've never seen a red-side version, but don't play a lot of red-side so never went looking.I think, but am not 100% sure, that that map was made by Zombie_Man. He did make a villain one as well, IIRC.
Try PM'ing Zombie_Man and see if he can hook you up.
(p.s. I have this map scotch-taped to the side of my pc tower) -
Super-Jumping around, super-parkour style, trying to bounce off as many things you think you couldn't bounce off of, as I can.
And Caltropping greys to death in Atlas on my 50 Eng/Dev Blaster just
never
gets
old.
I actually giggle a little under my breath every time I do it. -
Top Line Edit: Well, reading comprehension FTL, I thought he was talking about a get-away, not someplace within commuting distance - but my recommendations still stand!

As a 30+ year resident of New York City (Manhattan) I TOTALLY get where you're coming from about wanting to see life OUTSIDE the city. Ignore those others telling you to suck it up and enjoy Manhattan.
I've spent plenty of time in NJ, too, and the state has some nice attractions, but nothing I'd recommend.
If you want my opinion, what you want to do is drive straight north into Upstate New York.
Drive the Thruway north and you're driving along the Hudson River much of the way, through rolling hills (the Poconos, then the Catskills, then the foothills of the Adirondacks, if you keep going far enough).
Or take the Taconic Pkwy. and you're LITERALLY surrounded by beautiful rolling hills with the foliage and wildlife just inches from your side mirror. Fun driving too, if you're into that kinda thing - very twisty, turny, up 'n downy (don't get a ticket, they hide in the trees in the center median).
At 45 minutes to an hour, you're JUST STARTING to get into the really interesting spots. If that's your absolute limit, just Google "Hudson Valley Getaways" or some such, and take your pick.
If you can drive for 2 hours, consider the area around (the town of) Hudson, NY. It's exactly two hours from the city, has a LARGE community of displaced Manhattanite artists, retired businesspeople, etc. Lots of art galleries, cafes displaying original (local) folk art, fine restaurants, antiques, etc.
If you can drive for 3 hours, SARATOGA is the don't-miss spot. It's a little oasis of culture & money in a desert of Upstate backwardness. The horse racing track brought the money, the money brought the culture.
If you include the 3.5-hour drive as PART of the adventure, you could drive up in the morning, spend the day at the track (in season), catch a New York City Ballet performance (in season), lie on the grass in the Saratoga State Park and listen to the Metropolitan Philharmonic or visit the battlefield where we whupped your azz back in the day, see a play, head to the lake and rent a sailboat or jet-ski, shop the upscale-downtown area, eat some super-upscale (but affordable) food, hit some rockin' bars/wine bars/clubs at night, grab a hotel room, and drive back the next day.
If you just want a day-trip, Saratoga is do-able, but potentially tiring. Hudson is more managable for a one-day. And again, the driving is so pretty heading north, don't tie yourself into a time limit, just count it as part of the adventure.
Note: both Hudson and Saratoga are stops on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor line. The line travels right along the east bank of the Hudson river THE WHOLE WAY. It's a beautiful trip, and a relatively affordable, very comfortable way to travel. You could get a round-trip ticket to Hudson for maybe $60 or so, $75 or so for Saratoga (just guessin'). -
Cue: Bi-monthly Drive-by buffing debate.
Popcorns and folding chairs available in back.
(So Mystic Fortune's now like every other buff in the game? O noes?) -
Welcome to the game and the forums Scrum!
One bit of advice I like to offer all new players:
The only way to guarantee you're always on a fun team is to form one yourself...

After much trial and error over the years, I've decided that countdowns are only useful in this game when dealing with multi-player glowie clicks.
For better or worse, here's what all my aura-buffing characters get:
/macro AB "Adrenaline Boost firing soon...$$emote Whistle"
The Whistle only sounds if I'm completely motionless when I hit the Macro, so I have some "micro" controlover when the whistle blows vs. when the Tell goes out without the whistle (sure don't need it while we're all getting ready to pounce...).
And generally, if people really want a buff, it's their responsibilty to stay *relatively* close to me in combat. I don't always warn, if pretty much everyone's in range. And if you're chronically not-in-range? Sorry bub - that's your bad gameplay tactics, not mine. -

Quote:5. Non-Constructive posts are prohibited.
Thread necromancy - Necro-posting is responding to an old discussion thread and is a form of thread bumping. If you wish to discuss a considerably older topic, create a new post and link to the older discussion.
Forbin just out of curiosity, what's the reasoning behind this?
Most boards would rather you search and revive an old thread than start a new one.
But I guess that assumes a "constructive" post being used to revive it...?
Still, even if it's *not* "constructive", wouldn't a bump of an old thread be preferable anyway in terms of not cluttering with a non-constructive *new* thread?
Just curious... -
Anyone who doesn't list SSK either doesn't team much or has gone to the Americans!

Also remember that bringing up your map then clicking the "CITY MAP" tab will show you all zones and which trains stop in which zones.
Though the map is somewhat out of date in terms of newly-added train stops.
In fact - forget I said anything at all.
What could be more frustrating than trying to navigate with an out-of-date map? *elbows Devs* -
-
Yikes that sounds bad!
You're going to have more luck with a technical issue like this in the Technical Issues & Bugs forum.
Be sure to read the guidelines at the top as far as providing enough information for them to be able to help solve your problem.
This forum's more for questions like "What level can I get a cape"? 'n stuff. -
Welcome back to the game and forums!
A couple of things to realize - depending on how long ago you played, there are a bunch of new zones, sites, scenes, and attractions that are tending to spread the player base around, more than in the past.
Cimerora, Orobouros, the Midnighter's Club, a re-vamped RWZ, Faultline, and Hollows, the University, Wentworths/Black Market, Architect Entertainment, etc.
End result is, players don't congregate in just two or three zones...there's also less street-sweeping type activity, with reduced debt and bonus XP added to instanced missions.
"Best" time to play is gonna vary depending on all sorts of things; where you are, what's going on in the real world, etc. Evenings and weekends will always be higher-activity times, tho.
And remember: The only way to guarantee you're always on a fun team is to form one yourself...
Here's how. -
Quote:Was this on Pinnacle by any chance? *ducks flying beer mug*
I ask, because I was just on a team with a Tank that kept faceplanting, but otherwise was a good player!
The owner explained that they had minor co-ordination/sight problems and in the heat of battle sometimes hit the right side arrow instead of power number one in that tray. -
I'd poke around in the Technical Issues & Bugs forum, and ask for help there if you can't find any solutions.
