Early travelling blue-side
I've been playing red-side exclusively for a while now, but I decided to give give heroes another shot. I'm at level 5 in Atlas Park and I've got a mission in Galaxy City. Is there an easier/quicker way to get there other than going through Perez Park? Is there some quick-travel system to make getting around easier? I'm not enjoying how spread out early missions seem to be on this side, so far.

And take heart, once you've leveled up enough to do the Safeguard mish in King's Row (level 5 and above) you'll have access to a temp travel power.

The train lines are the equivalent to to the Rogue Isles Ferry. Except that there are two lines, yellow (for the lower level areas) and green (others). Places like Steel Canyon have both train lines.
From AP to Galaxy, just go northwest of the huge Atlas statue and the train will take you to Galaxy.

There is a great graphic map of how the trains run, Ouro portal and Pocket-D, etc. I'll see if I can find it.
As for regular travel:
1. Ninja Run is great and worth the $10, despite the reasonably cool Ninja clothes and the ability to do pushups.
2. Raptor Pack [Rocket Backpack]: At ANY level you can enter the Vanguard Building, V on Atlas Map, and go through the portal to the Ritki War Zone. Once through, just turn around and go back into the portal, but choose Perigrine Island. Fire Base Zulu is clearly labeled on the map. Make it your destination and run on the centerline of the roads. Do not get off the centerline. It takes a while. But, due to the no one-shot death rule, if you do get hit by the sniper right before the gate, you'll just go down to 1 hp, even if he hits you for 1200 [which is about right]. Enter the Portal Co doors, turn right, go through the portal, turn left and then look right and see the Raptor Pack vendor. 10k gives you 2hrs of 29mph flight. If you did want to go through PP easy, you could. Then, of course, fly back to Vanguard and get back to Atlas.
3. Alternate to Perigrine Island run for Raptor: Buy the temp power recipe and craft it. Off topic, but Etherial Shift is also really handy.
4. If you've made a Kin/ defender or /kin controller, speed boost Syphon Speed is nice.
5. Do bank missions with people in Kings Row and get temporary powers there. Jump packs rock, etc.
6. Isn't there also some stuff you can buy at the Arena in Pocket-D?
In addition to the Tram, if you are in a group very often you can use the team leader's base which probably has teleporters to the other zones.
Pocket D has openings in a few very helpful locations, the one I use most often is Faultline, but I also hit kings row from the D.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
Vidiotmaps.com has a great map that shows how to get around.

Thanks so much for the tips! I knew I had to be missing something!
Oh, and because everybody has done it (but few will admit it...) don't forget that unlike the Ferries, the Tram stations have an Entrance and an Exit. If you are clicking on that tram door and nothing is happening, you've gone in the wrong one
However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator
Also remember that bringing up your map then clicking the "CITY MAP" tab will show you all zones and which trains stop in which zones.
Though the map is somewhat out of date in terms of newly-added train stops.
In fact - forget I said anything at all.
What could be more frustrating than trying to navigate with an out-of-date map? *elbows Devs*
