Ok I have return to CoH but have found it very empty with few people on or willing to team up.

So here's my question what's the best time to play, what lvl character should I use, ( I have a wide ish range to choose)

Or have I wasted my time and money returning to CoH and should maybe find another MMORGP?

Things may be different than the last time you were here, but you should try out some new behaviors before you give up. I'm not sure how long you were gone, but one of the main changes is that much more of the teaming activity happens on global channels now than ever before.

You should have down to the specific server forum for your server (or just give your server name here) and people will be able to tell you what the most popular global channels are for your server. Once you've joined the global channels you can decide whether you still think it's "dead".

Oh, and welcome back.

Welcome back to the game and forums!

A couple of things to realize - depending on how long ago you played, there are a bunch of new zones, sites, scenes, and attractions that are tending to spread the player base around, more than in the past.

Cimerora, Orobouros, the Midnighter's Club, a re-vamped RWZ, Faultline, and Hollows, the University, Wentworths/Black Market, Architect Entertainment, etc.

End result is, players don't congregate in just two or three zones...there's also less street-sweeping type activity, with reduced debt and bonus XP added to instanced missions.

"Best" time to play is gonna vary depending on all sorts of things; where you are, what's going on in the real world, etc. Evenings and weekends will always be higher-activity times, tho.

And remember: The only way to guarantee you're always on a fun team is to form one yourself...

Here's how.

gonna echo what Camper said.

City of Heroes is a heavily instanced game. Most players are actually inside of missions, and not concentrated in any one zone or open area, so simply typing /search in a zone will only show you a few players.

There also is another factor that needs to be accounted for when teaming. Several issues back the /hide function was given a revamp and now allows players to not appear in searches, although they will remain visible to SG-mates, Coalies, or Global Channels.

Most mission teaming occurs through SG and Coaly chat, or through Global Channels. Many servers have a public (and largely populated) global channel, and probably several less populated private channels. Some global channels are based off of in-game or forum communities.

If you can tell us what server you are on, we can point you in the right direction of which global channels to check out. However, you might need to keep in mind that you could need to switch servers depending on your hours of play.

E.G. : servers like Victory, Triumph, and Virtue are pretty much dead from 1am till server Reboot Easter Time. You might find one or two teams running, but good luck putting together a task force or something.
