Got 'em for my two accounts!
Now... what is it?
[Edit] Ah, it's a costume code. Turns you into one of the Talons of Vengeance. -
Many times, a new power set has fit one of my character concepts better than what I've been using. Lots of people have had this problem, and it's nothing new. You may not like the answer that's been given, but it's still the answer.
Besides, I doubt any new powerset will be just a clone of the old one with a slight tweak, like Katana was to Broadsword. Not only will the set possibly be more fun than Claws with a new look, but the animations for the powers may not be ones that could be switched to Claws in any sane way.
The "large glove over the hand" idea has been suggested before. I don't remember all of the reasons it was said it couldn't work, but part of it is that the claws attacks make your hand into a fist. The glove would have to be big enough to be silly to hide the fist.
Now, where the Hades did you hear about a "Savage" powerset? -
I just got two for my two accounts.
What I did was a quick copy/paste into Notepad of all the codes, then I jumped to the middle of the list. I'd try one, and if it didn't work, I'd shift+downspace one, and hit DELETE. Then, I'd move on to the next code.
Took less than 10 tries for each account. -

Quote:The first Faultline is dead, but the new Faultline is his son and working with Vanguard. However, he's a bunch of Earth powers, not really Earth Control.Someone mentioned Faultline but thats in the past as I recall.
Aside from Faultline, I don't think there's any named Earth Controllers in CoH lore. -
Question: Does "preexisting assets" include opponents you could make in AE?

Quote:People have asked for a week's advance notice of any power sets going on sale, and they were told they'd get it. Last time, they used the Intrepid Informer article as the one week notice. Thus, many people thought that's what was happening this time, too.Well we'll get it, obviously, just not immediately. I'm not seeing much of a difference personally, between doing the article a day or two in advance of it, and a week or two in advance of it. *Shrugs*
There's more I want to say here, but it'll come out sounding bad, so I'll just leave it with a "Be consistent, please." for PS and leave it at that. -
So, what was the point of the article about Nature Affinity if we're not getting Nature Affinity?
-
I would be greatly amused if he did reappear, but NOT as The Doctor.
The fact is that he looks so much different now that it would be painful to see him put on his old Doctor outfit and try to act the same as before. Put him in in a different role, and have fun with the "Don't I know you?" jokes. -
Quote:I think that some of the earlier powers like this were used in arcs and DID affect Stealth, so it seemed as if you were costumed as one of them and could pass through their base.I don't think it was ever explained when the costume toggles first arrived. I have a sneaking suspicion there is no reason: at least no specific restriction that mandates it. It may have been done that way for certain expediency reasons, but I can think of no practical reason why even then with the tech available at the time they needed to be exclusive of stealth powers.
If the other costume toggles are based on that, then they may all be considered "Stealth" powers, even though they don't change your Stealth any. If that IS the case, they may be able to make it work more like Granite Form. -
I think it's just their way of saying that some of the more important or noteworthy Praetorian survivors will be showing up on Primal Earth now. Not WHERE they'll show up.
I could easily see Marauder gathering a few people around him and setting up a protection force for a group of Praetorians in the Isles. He may love to fight, but his secondary motivation always seems to be to protect people, even his old allies from the Hamidon Wars. He's not the best friend, but at least he tries to be a loyal one.
Personally, I hope we encounter Riptide as something of a Rogue, bitter and angry at Primals, but willing to work with them to protect the survivors of Praetoria that have moved to Paragon. I want to see him prove to everyone that he'll put the people of Praetoria first, no matter the cost to himself. In short, I want him to earn my respect, even if I do wind up beating him down for it. -

I have the Wisp aura, and I like it.
It sucks though, to have someone ask me "What aura is that? How do I get it?", and I have to tell them that they can't get it any more. It REALLY sucked when it was a friend that asked me that. It made me feel kind of guilty, I had something in the game that they'd never get to use, and they simply weren't playing at the time they could have gotten it (RL issues).
I very much want them to put it up for sale. -
Quote:Yeah, I know, and I'm not really suggesting that they should.I, and a number of other folks I know, would leave this game as soon as the announcement was made if they removed AE. It's one of the very few things I can consistently enjoy that I don't get burnt out on over time with this game. Sure it needs attention badly, but that doesn't mean we gotta nuke it.
It just makes me sad whenever I open the editor in AE, and great ideas start to flood into my head. I sit down, I start to type, and... I realize that while the game itself can easily do what I want it to do, AE can't. Nor will it ever. I eventually close the editor and move on to something less depressing. -
Quote:They should, in my opinion, fix AE, and after they do that, take the best AE arcs they can find and occasionally turn one into an official arc. It wouldn't have to be a major one, or even figure into the larger story, but it would mean an interesting new arc from time to time.Quote:They really should. I have to admit that I assumed that was part of the thinking when AE was created in the first place -- get the players to do some work for free, creating good new content. And I don't mean that in a negative way. I'm sure most players would think that getting their work made part of the official world canon was payment enough.
PS: Adding in the occasional map or enemy group does not count as "updating AE" any more than adding PvP stats to new powersets counts as "fixing PvP". -
Quote:This entire post makes me cringe because of how harsh it is. And yet, I can't find any part of it that I can disagree with. And it feels like the extra resources he was given actually WORSENED the stories he produced. I'd actually appreciate the game's writing if it did stick to more or less what the Architect provided, but damned if the development team didn't swear to outdo Architect writers in all ways. So we get these over-scripted messes with unnecessary custom maps and custom critters and custom dialogue and custom artwork that seem to have neglected the one thing which makes a good story - the actual story. I can think of no worse offender in this respect than the SSA1, which feels more like a tech demo for a mission creator players don't have access to than it feels like actual content. It's less a story made for us to consume and more a product which tells me "See what we can do? We're so much better than those peasant Architect authors! We can make EVERYTHING custom!" Yes, I see. Can you make your story custom, though? Because it feels like you slapped it together from Lego bricks.
Budget and time constraints are not an excuse. As far as an actual writer's job is concerned, this is neither so expensive nor so time-consuming. Even if we extend this to mission design, the average time needed to make a basic story arc is around a week, not counting QA testing which is typically carried out by other people. I assume it would take longer if the arc needed custom everything, but that's all the more reason to NOT include custom everything. Take SSA2.1, for example. That arc used entirely preexisting maps, almost entirely pre-existing character models, relatively cheap new enemy factions pulled together from existing critters and only a couple very simple scripted sequences. And it was amazingly good. SSA2.1 is good not because it has lots of bells and whistles, but because it tells a good story, and a good story doesn't take as much time and money as people seem to be convinced it does. It just takes a writer who cares about the writing as opposed to about the gimmicks. Well, it takes an editor, too, as SSA1.7 proved beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Basically, time and money are not an excuse for not knowing the lore of the story you're working on, or otherwise not asking someone who does or cross-referencing a lore source. People manage to make shockingly good Architect arcs on their own time after work on zero budget and with limited tools. If actual developers are unable to at least match that, then it transpires that their better tools are more of a liability than a help.
That saddens me. -

Note that Beast MM pets can buff their own run speed. I've heard people complain that this allows the pets to run off after a target and get into trouble even faster than normal MM pets. Slower run speed gives you more time to call them off if they're about to do something stupid.

I would like to see one or two versions of a hoverbike, at least. (One racer/sleek, one Harley/hog style.)
They'd be pretty much the same as the Rocket Board and Flying Carpet, yes. But people that want a motorcycle could at least ride them down near the ground to mostly get that effect. And unlike the board and carpet, you'd actually be SITTING on this one.
The main problem I would see, other than actually making it, is doing the animations for moving the handlebars when you turn. -
I can see them being base level 52, but not 54.
At 52, they're still stronger than "normal", but a level 50 won't be entirely helpless against them. This gives you a reason to want to gain a level shift or two before you fight them, but it doesn't lock you out if you haven't done so.
There's also a possible limit to how far the Devs can push this. If pushing it two steps will do, why push it four and get to the limits that much faster? -
Quote:I have two accounts. Back in the days of Leveling Pacts, I could do pretty much this by linking a new character on each account. You pick an AT and pick your powersets. Then you can have 2 builds with different powers, slots, and enhancements.
The allure quickly fades. Trust me. -
Quote:Ditto what Pheonyx said. I've also seen plenty of people that would never ERP, and some of them are pretty bad non-E RP. So, you can't judge them too much by if they ERP or not.I know several players who are excellent RPers who do both normal RP and ERP by their own admission, so your generalization of all ERPers is incorrect.
Still, feel free to tell them (In character or Out) that they might want to get a room somewhere, as out in the open of Pocket D is no place for that. -
Quote:I'll admit that I often do that one. However, that's part of how I get to be better, by making myself correct things when I spot my mistakes. I am sorry if it annoys some people, but correcting the mistake now makes it less likely that I'll repeat that mistake the next time.I also have a [small] pet peeve about people who can't spell, punctuate, etcetera, but my BIG peeve is with the obsessive-compulsive people who insist on breaking up the flow of conversation/RP/whatever by "fixing" their easily understood typos.
It doesn't bother me too much when other people make the occasional mistake, but it bugs me when I do. -
