Quote:Yeah, content can get a bit uneven like that. The only thing that bugs me about hero side contacts / missions is that I feel like I'm completely starved of contacts / missions at times. Other times, I can't get the contacts to shut up about introducing me to new ones!
But if you can't find contacts, you can still team up and do a Task Force, do radio missions, Mission Architect etcetera. -
For the record, you don't necessarily need to pick the 'easiest' sets for your first character. Willpower and Regen are simple, but any other set is perfectly viable. And Dual Blades has a combo system that makes it slightly more complex than other sets, but it shouldn't be hard to learn.
My first character was a Mastermind- one of the most complex ATs in the game, but very powerful when used properly. After that, everyone else seems easy.
Although the ones I probably wouldn't reccomend to newbies are Defenders, Corruptors and Controllers, which generally require a team to get the most out of their powers, and teaming is another set of player skills altogether. -
To be honest, I find furry haters to be more annoying than even the most vocal furries.
And that said, finally. Have they even specified what kind of animated tails they're gonna have? If there's just one fox tail I'm happy. -
I won't be happy until I can recreate Captain Carrot and the entire Amazing Zoo Crew.

Reply to completely irrelevant tangent, derail imminent.

I have costume colour problems too. If SG Mode isn't on, then it might be your video card.
-
You don't need to delete the character you have; you can change everything about them (power and slot choices, costume, even gender and size with the Science pack) except your name, Archetype, Origin, and powersets.
There's nothing wrong with being a newbie, as long as you're willing to learn. Welcome to the game. -
Not all farmers are crazed loners, it's actually pretty fun to team up and slaughter your way through tons of big scary enemies.

As above, everyone's in instances, the Euro servers tend to be quiet compared to the American ones, and your chances of getting a team will skyrocket if you make an effort to form one yourself. These days you can assemble a team of literally anyone, any level, any archetype, and soon any alignment. (in certain zones)
Although I will admit that overall numbers are a bit low at the moment; there haven't been any major updates in a while, though a major expansion is on its way. A lot of players are probably going to join and rejoin when Going Rogue comes out. -
Basically, softcap your positional defense and you're good against 95% of attacks in the game.

Generally, there's a few good rules of thumb:
-Robots are usually strong against lethal and psi, but weak to smashing and energy.
-Enemies with player powersets will have the strengths and weaknesses of those powersets; eg, fire users will be weak to ice.
-Well armoured foes in general are strong against lethal and smashing
-Fire, cold, energy and negative energy (FCEN) are 'exotic' damage types that tend to be rarely resisted, and are good against pretty much anyone.
-Few foes resist Psi and Toxic, though balanced that those damage types are hard to access, or to resist yourself. -
It's a fictional area with fictional inhabitants loosely based as much on stories, myth and legend as on actual history.
And I always figured there's at least some underlying magic or similar plot devicium that allows Roman soldiers to stand toe-to-toe with superheroes. Then again, ordinary people are just badass in CoH world, considering the Warriors and Malta. -
Hah, that happens.
But you can also just buy an Architect edition game disc or something, a pretty good deal since it comes with a month gameplay and a super booster, and saves you redownloading most of the game. -
Quote:I could probably figure out a build that lets you do exactly that. With the ability to color our attacks (and even change the animations in some cases), any RP justification for this idea gains a little less strength. Granted, you still can't throw a fireball after a lightningbolt followed by a megaton punch, but mweh.
Counting ancillary pools and such though.

Broad sword/shield or axe/shield would let you unlock two Vanguard weapons.
-
Who the heck can even make 'cookie-cutter' builds these days anyway? Even among the minmaxers, I'd be surprised if you found two who could agree on the same build.

Best to ask in the hardware/software help forum rather than here, they have specialists.

That's all? What about Praetorian counterparts?

I love it when people still bring this up, when they already tried this in the Alpha and it turned out to be a terrible idea for reasons already posted.
Especially since not a lot of people realise that City of Heroes was originally meant to basically be a Champions MMO with the serial numbers filed off. Champions Online is actually closer to Jack Emmert's original vision... and others have said plenty about that.
This game is already easy and has incredible character freedom compared to most other MMOs on the market. It doesn't need to be broken.
And just to drive a nail into the coffin of 'it's just for RP reasons', I'll use one hated example: the Mission Architect. An RPers wet dream, and what was it first used for? Farming and exploiting on an unprecedented scale, and it had to be violently and repeatedly nerfed to stamp it out. Even RP freaks will succumb to exploiting if it's easy enough. -
You don't need to be any specific AT, powerset or even level. Literally any team of any combination is viable in this game. Forming pick-up groups has never been easier.

Heck, the Necromancy set has a Lich that's basically a villain on a leash, I think it makes more sense for a hero to control.

Now, I am well aware that recolouring or reskinning Mastermind pets may well be impossible with the current game technology, or something that's not a high priority. But that can't stop me from dreaming.
So if or when they implement pet customisation, what reskins and such would you like to see? Originals, or based on enemy groups? And should they be unlockable?
Mercenaries: Arachnos soldiers (Wolf Spiders with Arachnos guns), gangsters (Family with tommy guns), maybe even Malta and Council.
Ninjas: Tsoo, Knives of Artemis...
Robots: Council 'bots
Thugs: Trenchcoat-and-sunnies Neo ripoffs, cowboys, pirates.
Necromancy: Various zombie types.
Demons: We'll see.
Any more ideas?
