Where is everyone?!

Hi all,

I'm kinda new to the game (for anyone who didn't see my last posts, I had a pretty hard time trying to get the game to work!), but am loving it so far. It's much better than WoW, which is where I came from.

My only question is this; where is everyone?!

I'm playing on European Defiant server, as a villain, level 13 and currently in Port Oakes. Is there a major hang out area in CoH/CoV? Or is my server just really quiet?

Thanks to anyone who can point me in the direction of a more densely populated area!

Again? That was fast.

Right now, we're largely at work and school. Where are you?

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

No idea really on the population density of the Euro servers.

The most likely places to find people in bunches though are Cap au Diable, Redside or Atlas Park, Blueside. Or perhaps Pocket D.

Good luck finding folks to play with!

First of all, welcome to the game!

Secondly, the Rogue Isles on Defiant is probably the least populated english-speaking territory. Europe has less players than the American servers, Defiant usually has slightly fewer players than Union, and redside has about a third of the blueside population at any given time.

Also, CoH is very, very instance-heavy. Whereas in WoW you'll find players running around waiting for things to respawn, we fight (or commit) crime in warehouses, offices, caves and the like. I'd set your 'Looking for team' flag found in your team tab so people know what you're after, and be prepared to start your own team. There are so many people standing around just waiting for someone to /tell them an invite to their team.

I'm on Union myself, which is more roleplay-oriented than Defiant. Although a certain golden-haired heroine will tell you otherwise, we don't bite if you're considering switching server. Server transfers are free until Sunday, so it may be worth considering.

Either way, find the server that's right for you, don't be afraid to start your own team, and join your server's chat channels. Union's popular channels are 'Sals Badgehunters', which is good for finding a team for a task force or strike force, and 'Union Chat', which while a general chat channel, can be used for finding someone looking to team up.

Good luck on your search, anyway.

Welcome to the game! Hope you enjoy it as much as i have.

One thing that is very different in City of Heroes compared to other MMO's is that the game is very heavily instanced. There is not much outdoor grouping so to speak.

Joining your servers global chat channels will give you an outlet to look for teams.

Setting your "looking for' message to something along the lines of "level 13 dom lft" will make your toon stand out to others that are building teams.

Also dont be afraid to open up the looking for window and start sending tells (whispers in WoW) to those around your level range and see if they want to join a team that you yourself lead.

Good luck and have fun

Also right click on the chat window, and hit Channel search.

Join on some with bigger numbers/populated chat channels, and find player there.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

As above, everyone's in instances, the Euro servers tend to be quiet compared to the American ones, and your chances of getting a team will skyrocket if you make an effort to form one yourself. These days you can assemble a team of literally anyone, any level, any archetype, and soon any alignment. (in certain zones)

Although I will admit that overall numbers are a bit low at the moment; there haven't been any major updates in a while, though a major expansion is on its way. A lot of players are probably going to join and rejoin when Going Rogue comes out.
