Why am I suddenly being invited to join a farm team?

This is not actually a complaint. Back in the days when lots of people sent unsolicited invites to me to "pad" or "fill" their missions, it was very annoying; but those days are gone and it's been many moons since I was asked to fill on a farm.

The change allowing you to set the team difficulty for 1-8 players eliminated the need for fillers.

But just recently my 50s have started getting invites to "Join demon farm?" I'm not mad about it, as it seems to be just one guy (so far). I haven't even put him on ignore.

What I can't figure out is what's involved. Wouldn't a farmer set to +8 get fewer drops if there were other players on his team?

If it's just company he wants, he could chat in a global channel.

Anyone know what this is about?

Old player coming back, who doesn't know about the changes to difficulties?

Just my guess. No clue on why unless he wants you to buff/debuff or something.

I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, Keep me here!

The only think I can think of is maybe he's lonely.

Well the logical solution is that he doesn't have a particuarly good farming toon and so getting a small team actually increases his drops/hour.

A friend of mine says about farms "padders", "Reduced influence, increased amusement."

It's also possible that if they are doing an AE mission, then an effective teammate might increase their inf/min.

Not all farmers are crazed loners, it's actually pretty fun to team up and slaughter your way through tons of big scary enemies.

It's been a while, but I've occasionally has people invite my level 50 brutes and scrappers to farm with them, and when I /who them, they've been lowbies - often 20 or less.

I'd say it's pretty obvious what these ones are looking for.

I've gotten several invites to join BM farms lately. Out of curiosity I did join one and the guy was obviously an experienced farmer with a heavily purpled toon. For a while I was into farming so I have a pretty good understanding of the typical pace through that map, and this guy was just tearing it up. The only thing I can think of was that he was PLing an alt on a second account so he didn't care about drops and just wanted to max out kill speed. There were no doorsitters, everyone was helping.

I get invited to farm on a regular basis with two of my toons. I'm usually hanging out at the WW in Talos and get invited to a BM in PI.

But only two characters. Trixi Chalk who's team seeking message is "katana/wp ftw" and Candyjet who's is "ill/storm controller."

I think it's a combo of the name and the info in the text. The few times I've joined it has been a very cohesive team and they just wanted to get some variety along. When we've gotten down to four or so, they'd start recruiting randomly, or with someone saying "Get an ice something" and didn't really care who it was or what lev as long as they'd have some good powers.

Maybe the farmers are deciding to rebel against the AE-induced stereotypes of being joyless munchkins and instead want to get people together to have fun.

I had someone send me a tell recently for "Demon farm?". Of course, they immediately logged off, so I can only assume they were trying to farm names to send CGF spam to.

Agreed. Most players now know that farming is out, however, there are still some players who will farm a mission that is giving out good drops and decent xp.
