I agree, Carp Pistols WTF, as the kids say. Or is that FTW? I don't know any kids to ask.

I didn't do it, but I wish I had, because that is hilarious.

  4. Wait, you logged on on Sunday morning and were actually surprised to find not many players? Hell, man, US servers don't get that many people either at that time. Gamers are notorious night owls, 9p-4am or later on a weekend is when the people are on, come Sunday am they've not long gone to bed!
  5. Lineage 2, is how I've heard it.
  6. I'd take the filter's ridiculousness one step further, and say the Coven is sacrificing Virginians.

  8. Going Rogue will cover me for a year or more. Add in Staff Melee and that's another year.

    I'm quite easy to please.
  9. I can quite honestly say that I have never ever had slots to spare on such things, regrettably. Most of my characters remove Brawl from the tray by the mid 30s, it becomes simply in the way.

Even noble and laudable intentions such as slotting it with a kockdown IO would require me to ensure I'm getting an accuracy boost somewhere, or else it'd just miss, probably at a time when much laughs would be had otherwise. The thought of such missed opportunities is too much to bear.

Either I'm getting stupider by the second, or that year or so I spent chatting on Yahoo has paid off. Possibly they're connected. At any rate:

    DOOOOOOOOM.
Oddly enough, next week's episode is also a very special one, where CoX gives in to the temptation to inhale carcinogens and hang around nuclear reactors. Leading sitcom scientists are baffled as to this turn of events, especially since there's a wedding episode coming the week after that, but suspects "CO, those dirty farmers, and PvP, probably".
  12. It never ceases to amuse me that whenever I get the level 30 tailor mission to take out 30 Crey or however many, I walk out of Icon and see like 2 Medics jumping over the wall. You gotta wonder how that battle plan went.

"Okay! We got a badass level 30 with lots of powers, pretty close to a full attack chain or equivalent thereof, good defense (even of the offensive variety), and likely as not a tried-and-true strategy for dealing with all manner of situations. They now have the nerve to defy our wonderful corporation! You two! What abilities do you have to deal with this situation?"

"Uh, Brawl and Heal Other, ma'am."

"Let's see...looks like Heal Other. And Brawl."

    "Awesome powers! Now CHAAAAARGE!"

"Uh, can we borrow the power armor or something because we-"

    "Are you still HERE!?!"

    "No ma'am! FOR CREY!"

I'd love to see MA for Blasters as a secondary. Especially with a Pistols Akimbo set. I'll make a Grammaton Cleric Lara Croft yet, by golly!

    Best feeling in the world.

Quite a few of my characters are foreign-language (to me) names, that both sound cool and are a thematic match. Characters can, after all, be from anywhere on earth, or have any ancestry. We live in the Google Age, a time when online Whatever-WhateverElse dictionaries or word lists can be found merely for the typing.

If they decide to have another purge, of characters level 5 and less attached to inactive (for length x) accounts, I wouldn't shed a tear. But frankly I doubt it'd do any good.
  15. My favorite part of I16 is the ability to set enemies at -1, then add more of them (i.e. set for 2 or 3 players). All of my lowbies love it, but especially my Brutes. Pre SOs, pre Stamina and/or other powers to help deal with lack of end, playing a Brute was really frustrating for me, because as soon as I'd finally gotten some Fury going, I was dead out of end and usually low on hp too. Now my Brutes (and others) are ripping through missions at a good clip, with just the right amount of MY definition of "challenge".

Fine-tuning difficulty is something the game's been missing for a long time.

    COH Mythbusters

So you're using four pool powers, no Fitness. Bring blues. I think it'd just be easier to IO up.
  17. Primal

    What Colors....

I rerolled an Energy/Psi as a Rad/Psi, and changed all the colors to white with a slight pinkish hue. I just pretend she's firing off generic magical energy.

Changing my 23-ish Dark/Rad Defender's blasts to a purple shade, with the same cheerful lack of justification.

Rolled a Spines/Elec Scrapper (finally, after years of disliking the banana look), gave her the metal spikes colored silvery and electricity colored white. Blah blah complicated accident left her pierced with electrical rods blah blah.

And that's it, really. Everything else is fine. I'm making another MA Scrapper that'll mix in some punches, but waiting on the details on GR for that as she's an evil alternate universe version.

    COH Mythbusters

When the game hands you an awaken, you're not far from needing it.

Announcing to the team how awesome you all have been doing, and how no one has died, is just asking for the God RNG's holy vengeance upon yourself.

Have to admit, it sure seems that way sometimes, though!
Merely having them debuffs accuracy too. I'm convinced of it. Best to just discard them.
  19. Heh, I also have a long-standing character whose story tied into the 5th. I added some mumbling at the end about how the Council are basically the same, but it was, like you say, a lame add-on.
  20. I'll be changing a few colors around, and playing some characters I've been holding on who'll benefit from some other changes, but there's no huge hurry on any of that. I'm rerolling a character as a Rad/Mental Blaster.

Honestly, this issue is in that strange middle ground between "meh" and "cool", no exclamation marks on either.
  21. I have a 32 Mercs/Poison on Freedom. My second-highest Villain. Not the fastest killer ever, that prize would go to my Thugs/Dark, but it's a good combo if you're willing to liberally throw those debuffs around.
  22. Work, school, sleep, yadda yadda, but after that:

I haven't been playing the game much lately. Okay, truth to tell I never have been all that hardcore about it, I'll go days between logins sometimes. I jump around between several different games (Oblivion, Fallout 3, Titan Quest, online f2p stuff, waiting to download Dungeon Fighter Online today). Sometimes I blow games off entirely and read TVTropes again, or these blasted forums. On weekends I find stuff to do outside during the day.
  23. For my MA/Regen Scrapper, I had the idea of basically a regular person who could tap into a deep animal rage and ignore pain, and happened to have fighting skills as well. (Yes, she would've been Willpower had it existed.) The name fit, and I liked the sound of the word, though I don't think it actually clever. When global handles were first being discussed I decided to adopt the name since it was the character I played the most. Previously I was QulonChi (first character I ever made, an alien with a made-up name, who's now been through many different builds) and Exocytosis (just a random word I thought sounded cool).

I don't use this name anywhere else. I sometimes use a theme for other names, but often as not I'm using something totally different. Oddly, I recently checked and found Primal taken on every server; Triumph is the only one that's me.
  24. Bejeweled: CHV Edition. Signature hero and villain faces, on coins perhaps, the 10 main ones and their lackeys. The twist is that you have to put two of the same villain and a hero together, or two heroes and a villain. Perhaps you'll have to sandwich them, i.e villain hero villain. Lining up the 5 main heroes or villains together, either representatives of the origins or reps of the ATs, is worth extra points, and removes ALL of the other side's coins at once, then more new random coins slide down.

Actually this sounds less and less like Bejeweled.
  25. I don't have any particular objection to new travel powers, if the devs want to implement some, but I don't see ever bothering taking Swinging. Unless I'm in a big tunnel or something else with a roof, what am I swinging from? In Spider-Man games it's inevitably been a big hassle, and I found it preferable to just run around on the ground, but of course the games always required its use*. Such things as floating earth platforms or flying carpets I might get some mileage out of, they're essentially reanimated Fly.

One of the things that convince me not to spend any actual time with CO was the travel powers, because the game ran so horribly when using them. Imagine using travel powers here while right in the middle of a giant Rikti raid, only it's zone-wide, and you have my experience with CO's travel. It was a fine way to wind up in a big group of enemies. A PC issue I'm sure, but I ran the game just fine otherwise, it's like the game couldn't render fast enough when I tried to move with any speed.

Yeah, I don't use TP here much either. End-intensive as all hell, click-happy, sadly lacking in a teleport-attack....

    * - Usually for some sort of beat-the-clock stage, an association which probably explains why I'm against it.
