There's a lot of refinement all the new systems can use, i.e. more on AE, a massive amount left for PC (somebody said that pool powers are going to be even more work than the primary/secondaries were!), bugs, etc.
The devs also have a countless stream of possible powersets they could implement, as well as more proliferation, etc. If anything, the devs have more paths open to future development now than ever before.

The game engine is like a heart that has been put through bypass surgery countless times.
I'd like to see more dev-created content - the long-ago-promised moon zone, the rumoured underwater zone (vs Coralax and their Cthulhu-like sleeping alien goddess Merulina), the Rikti Homeworld, plus some more hazard zone revamps (especially Boomtown and DA) - and definitely more map tilesets and layouts, because I'm rather bored of getting 1/3rd of the way into every mission and being able to predict the entire layout of the other 2/3rds of the map. Oh and lots of new powersets. Plus some more invention sets (Targeted AE needs more sets, and purple sets for Fear/Heal/Defence/Resist & most debuffs/buffs)
In fact if the future of CoH/V after Going Rogue was just new story content (new Dev-created zones/tilesets/contacts/missions/TFs/enemies), new and proliferated powersets, more invention sets, more costume sets/pieces, and minor QoL tweaks/changes then I'd be blissfully happy with that.
I'm sure it's more interesting for the Devs to add loads of new major systems, expanding the core client in ways they wouldn't have dreamed a few years ago, but a lot of us are here for the gameplay and I think it's time the Devs focused on providing more storyline content for that for the next year or two (and yes, Going Rogue should be a very good start), as it seems to have been rather neglected of late.
from here, cox is goin' straight to the wall.

anyone want purp lines for free? my actual is 'Tantaliser'
Even though I've been here for nearly 4 years, and there's quite a bit of story content I haven't delved into yet (primarily a soloist, so have barely tackled the task forces and trials), I would really like to see some new story material, especially at the lower levels. Those of us with Alt-itis have long since gone through all the introductory material on COV and most of it on COH, at least through the first 20ish levels. Thankfully, Going Rogue will help my fix there - but I'd still like to run a new Villain some day and do something different.
Also - some of the best unique maps are at first few levels, then never seen again (modified versions of standard maps - the rave, the Infected, Frostfire - I'd like to see some of those occasionally. And then have them available on AE...
On the customization front:
New hands and feet so they have fingers and toes.
A more detailed slider system.
Separate options for right and left legs and arms.
I'd like to see the Warriors stop grovelling to the Freakshow.
I'd like to see BIG Giant monsters, which may happen; the devs were experimenting with a giant Mek Man on Test a while ago. I14 beta I think.
More done with the Shard and Rularuu.
More power proliferation! Ice Armor and Ninjutsu to other melee ATs, Rad and Sonic to MMs, Axe to Stalkers.

Going Rogue will cover me for a year or more. Add in Staff Melee and that's another year.
I'm quite easy to please.

You really are.
My wife's the same way, she's played this regularly for four years with not a hint of burnout.
The graphics can only go so far in this game, but I'd like to see another upgrade.
After playing some of the newer games, then loading up this one it feels like stepping out of my 2009 Audi A4, and into my dad's 76 dadge pickup.
We'll never un-subscribe, but the aged graphics are causing my own interest to wane.
Is GR the next issue/expansion for certain? Or is there still a possibility of Issue 17 before then? I've not followed it closely, so I don't know timeframes.
I'd personally like to see them get quadraped wireframes up and running. Some of the villain groups would look great with guard dogs. Some wild predators in Eden might liven up the place too. And I've fought through thousands of sewers without seeing a rat...nor a gator. That just ain't right.
Well after gr, i am kind of hoping we start seeing some wok on the coming storm and pvp revamp that was begun a while ago. GR has likely used a lot of resources, and it will be interesting to see how they get reallocated post launch.
Gimme my Broad Sword Brute and my Metal Armor/Metal Melee Brute/Tanker and I'm a happy person!

Barring a few "under the hood" upgrades (as BAB's been known to call them), I would absolutely love to see an issue that is just CRAMMED with new content. Moonbase or underwater zone or whatnot would be sweet, but an issue with tons of new contacts and missions and story arcs? I would be on that like white on rice.
There is an absolute wealth of material in the existing story canon that's only been hinted at, through badges and plaques and character backgrounds. Do more with this. PLEASE do more with this.

Considering that Paragon Studios actually put out a call for experienced RPG writers with a background in computer coding not to long ago as part of their expansion, I can see a lot of content being redone.
Yes, AE makes it look easy, but let us face it, it is too easy to walk into an adventure that has serious bugs and the authors didn't catch it. We'll excuse that on an AE mission, we wouldn't accept it for "canon" missions.
I see sections of the game getting a long needed facelift, as well as new contacts being added, and the possibility of more missions being offered depending on the "alignment system" once things shake out a little.
Right now, if they've hired anyone, they're being shown "behind the curtain" so to speak, as well as sitting down with the rest of the staff, and discussing where the story is going to go from here, how they expand on it, and what they can do.
War Witch did a tremendous job on revamping the Hollows, and she did it without new artwork, and with very few resources. However, the core of the Hollows is still the same. Faultline got revamped, and is now interesting.
I would say, a few months after GR, we're going to see some major changes, as old contacts are replaced, or have new missions added, and new contacts/zone changes go on.
From here, I'm going to say: Story line progression and game world expansion.
And that's without touching on the revamp of the game engines core, the wireframe model rebuilding, the changing of pets from standard wireframes to player specific models, and all the other stuff that is undoubtedly taking place.

Portal Corporation is so incredibly underutilized.
Think about it. Those portals are punching holes through time and space. We can go anywhere, anytime. To any freakin' world we want to.
Need to go to the moon base? Use a portal.
Need to get to Atlantis? Use a portal.
Need to visit the 9th level of hell where the demons come from? Use a portal.
Discovered another planet on the far side of the galaxy? Use a portal. Maybe it's a primordial jungle planet with towering trees and giant reptiles. Maybe it's a desert planet. Maybe it's a post-apocalyptic world. Maybe it's a highly advanced civilization that's contacted us demanding to know why Nemesis is there. Maybe it's a world cloaked in eternal darkness, filled with vampires and werewolves. Who knows?
To date, though, we only ever go to other locations on Earth. It's sad, really. We could do so much more with it.
I think like a few posters in this thread, I am feeling a bit of the desire to be a bit more '2009'.
Now, I know people want the game to be playable on their older machines and such, but there are things visually that can be improved upon a lot. A great majority of the costume options are low-res in detail and texture; it's interesting to note that for example the high-res shiny cyborg parts are updated and detailed versions of a lot of the tech parts. A pass over these to bring them closer to the standards of the later costume sets and Boosters are now.
On that, it must surely be time to upgrade the character models as well. I've heard a lot about how time-consuming and difficult it might be, but the bodies are decidedly blocky (not to mention the mitten hands and feet) and aren't '2009'. For good or bad, gamers are coming to expect more detailed character models and I think that's something a little overdue for this game. I would say the same for faces, but that's a double edged sword. Facial expressions are hard enough in full CGI movies; even though there's some advances of this technology in some games (LotRo and a bit in Champions, though it looks awkward at best), I don't see it being a big thing as of yet.
Game engine wise, this also needs to follow through. Again, for good or bad, people are seeing physics based stuff crop up in MMO's (Champions' limited interaction with physical objects comes to mind here immediately) and for me personally, I look at Mayhem/Safeguard missions and think that technology should and could be expanded into the larger world. Not everywhere on every street corner, mind you...but available in some way to make the world more...well....smashy. So that our fights using all these powes have some lasting/temporary effect on the world around us. And isn't that a staple of comic book superheroism/villainy?
Again I agree with a lot of people that zones need a good going over and revamping, and I would say this needs to start from the ground up. Whilst the tutorial is spot on with 'what you need to know' moments on both sides, it could be made to be a bit more involved and invigorating. Busting out of a prison or stopping an outbreak of disease are fine, but give it a little more than just one mission. Like Champions, City of could do a lot to set up storylines from the beginning and give players things to look forward to. And for heroes, let's have reasons to start in Galaxy or Atlas rather than just being two starting zones. And on redside, the choice of NOT working with Arachnos needs to be more dilenated and have meaning instead of having subsequent storylines dovetail back into Arachnos. A secondary faction or something allowing villains to be true villains and not lackeys is needed here. Perhaps Going Rogue will allow this?
And lastly, story story story! The Coming Storm! Rularuu! Ouroboros! Cimerora! All of these things and more have unresolved/ongoing/untouched stories attached to them and deserve more than they have now. By extension this of course should mean more and new maps and environments; that's not just a wish of this player, but it's a logical extension of the game world to reach out and be broader in scope. We -almost- have this with areas like Cimerora and more dramatically in the Shadow Shard (which is practically crying out for more areas to explore within it), but the obvious things like underwater/outer space/other continents/cities (again superhero staples) are there to be had. Respectively and I think mentioned before, we have the Rikti homeworld, the Coralax region, and in Going Rogue, Praetoria (city or more, we don't know).
It's time the story moved forward; I'm fully appreciative of all that's being done for improvements in gameplay, customisation and Quality of Life features, it makes CoH that much more of a joy to log into. I'll admit to being a little spoiled here; I'm also playing Lord of the Rings Online and one of the things that keeps me playing is knowing that the story is moving (however slowly) towards the War of the Ring and seeing places I've read and seen of. I want that here too, that sense that the story is going ahead.
That's pretty much my two influence (though adjusted for the markets these days it'd be about 200,000....)

Note this is a praise and question post not a DOOOOM( do I have enough oooo)thread.
Some of what the game has come out has been neat( not great) but neat add ons' that alot of people have been asking for. Kudos so far on changing the face of the game so far and shaping the game in a new direction. Thus far we have been given coloring powers, wings, some new zones, side switching( Going Rogue), dual Pistol(soon), new outfits and themes, and it has been a welcome change or spice that puts it in competition with current and future super hero MMOs. Which brings up my question is where does it go from here? All the neat "stuff" has been added, and this game has alot of stuff that we have coming out of our ears. Do you think there is more things that can be added "stuff" wise or will the next few issues and events will be more story telling and little stuff?
