Quote:If he goes with DS/Poison, you should go with a full Fortunata. I love Night Widows and Fortunata's equally, but in this pairing the Fort would be a better fit. Since the pets will be a cross between melee and range, your Fortunata will be complete range and provide buffs to yourself, him, and his Demon henchmen.Hello all.
I have never been able to do a Mastermind, but my better half likes them, so I am thinking of making a VEAT to play with him.
So my question is what would go well with Demons. I think he is leaning towards the Poison secondary.
I just unlocked the Veats about an hour ago, so I am not experienced with the critters. Forts sound interesting though.
Thanks so much
Lisa.
Edit-Not real sure why I ended my title with a period instead of with a question mark....tired I guess. -
Quote:True, but the two should not be compared in first place because Corruptors are more akin to Blasters than they are Defenders. Sure a person could play their core just like a Defender, but then they would be negating a huge chunk of what the character does well, hence why so many people play them like Blasters that have soft controls.Saying a Dark/DP has not quite the damage of a Fire/Dark is like saying an obese man on a bicycle is not quite as fast as a Ferrari Enzo.
Having played both a Fire/Dark and Dark/Dark Defender, I personally prefer my Dark/Dark/Mind over the Corruptor because being unkillable outweighs being able to kill fast. The Fire/Dark is great fun and I still enjoy playing her, but she is nothing like my Dark/Dark/Mind.
Even if the Dark/Dual isn't the same damage output as the Fire/Dark, the damage output of that character is excellent nevertheless and if the OP solos a lot then another 30% damage buff will only make it that much more dangerous. -
The only good Defenders in my opinion are Dark/Dark/Mind and Dark/Dual/Mind.
Dark/Dark/??? is basically the only build on the game that I think is basically unkillable, and Dark/Dual has great damage output for a Defender. It's not quite a Fire/Dark Corruptor, but then again comparing Defender and Corruptors is pointless in my opinion since they are more like Blasters.
Good luck to you. -
Personally I hate Spin and even if it hits multiple targets the damage isn't really all that great. I have both on my Night Widow, but I took Spin much later in the build. Eviscerate is a power I love because it does great damage and it can hit multiple enemies. Having gained a lot experience with that power from my Spines/Willpower Scrapper, it was a no brainer when I first had the choice between the two.
-
If that is your attack pattern then you are really lacking damage in my opinion. My Fortunata is built different than yours, but still pours in the area of effect damage. I would make suggestions for you, but since you do not like Psychic Tornado that would pretty much negate anything I have to say. I also do not use Dark Obliteration because I do not like that power at all.
I have to agree with the previous poster that you would be better off going with a Night Widow since you are in melee so often. You get much more damage/control out of the Fortunata if you sty at range. Also using Psychic Wail as a primary attack even with it being up every 100th second as you say is another thing hindering your damage potentional. -

Quote:First I am speaking on the powers based on my experience playing as a human-form ONLY.I like it my Peacebringer, but I'm having trouble with its build because I have some unanswered questions:
- Is Light Form worth getting? If so, which ranged attacks, if any, should I pick?
- Should I dip into the Presence pool for additional support? Is it worth it?
- Is Glowing Touch worth getting by itself, or should I dip into the medicine pool in order to make best use of it?
Light Form is definitely worth getting seeing as it is basically Unstoppable from the Scrapper/Tank set with a nice ball of energy animation. As for the ranged attacks of the Peacebringer I only ever take Glinting Eye and Gleaming Blast because the other ranged power have terrible damage outputs in my opinion.
The Presence pool is garbage, but again I am speaking as someone that plays human-form only so I can't really give you input on how it would work for a tri-form player.
Glowing Touch does nothing for you, it is for teammates and they will appreciate the little bit of healing you can give them. I tend to use this power when I am in the thick of it and see a straggler wander towards the fragiles on the team.
You won't need the Medicine pool because you have more than enough self heals has a Peacebringer and the Medicine pool will do nothing for you but be a wasted power selection. -
....and give more fuel for those that already complain about long activation times on powers! While your explanation sounds great, I think the animation is fine as is.

Well speaking from experience, I loved my Energy/Devices Blaster, but she came into the game back in issue 2 when things were a lot different. I ended up deleting her at the end of issue 13 and remade her into Energy/Energy because I personally found Devices to be lacking seriously in fun and effectiveness factor.
Trip Mine use to be a demon and had a lot of use even in teams, but now thats not really true anymore. Gun Drone has been improved a lot and I am one of the few that loves that power.
Elec/ or Energy/ works well with /Devices so you can't go wrong either way. -
I could be wrong, but I thought a while back they made it auto hit, but I could be thinking of the Night Widow version only.
The only way the power will draw agro is if it damages the target/s and if I am not mistaken DW is a recharge debuff is it not? -
With Ice/Elec/Elec you don't need capped smashing, lethal defense because depending on the build you will have more than enough mitigation that you shouldn't need to worry about having typed defense.
My character has 4 holds, and Lightning Clap which is also another form of mitigation. With 4 quick holds you can lock down the bosses in mobs and deal out enough quick damage to kill the minions and lieutenants without much hassle.
Can't speak about Rad/ because I have no interest in it, but at least thats how it works for Ice/. -
The only way for you to find the right build for you is to select powers and slot them to see if they are what you like or not.
-
I will be taking my Fortunata, Ghost Widow, and Stalker heroside, and a Blaster and Tank redside. Each move is story related for me so thsoe are my reasons.
-
I tend to go for positional defense because its a lot easier to cap out and it covers everything I will ever require.
I have never found a good enough reason to go for typed and probably never will.... -
You might even want to look at frankenslotting your powers until you get to the point you want to start slotting IO sets.
-
Before you ask for peoples help, its best to actually post your build first that way we have an idea of what you have selected so far.
There are many directions you can go with Energy/Energy. I took mine the recharge/damage route, but there are other ways that you can get good performance out of the power sets. -
Quote:I personally just find it pointless for Blasters to go for typed defenses, but thats just me. I think with Ice/Elec there are far better things to slot for that give better returns to the character.Situational power for me. I was looking into ways to get a little more E/NE defense and Eradication is a good set for that. So, I might slot 3 of them, and 3 of an End Mod set, probably Efficacy Adaptor. I should get into the low 30's with it slotted. it depends entirely on whether or not I hae room in my build, currently it doesn't look like I do.
Looks like I'm going to be screwed on Fire and Cold though.
As for LF, I have only taken LF once and it was such a colossal letdown that vowed never to take it again. -
Quote:Not what I would do, but good luck to you on that.I'm going Ice/Electric/Cold. Yay for a blapper softcapped to smashing/lethal! Hibernate for if....er...when I misjudge what I'm jumping into
Not even taking Thunder Strike with him, I prefer the 1-2 of Charged Brawl/Havoc Punch. I'm also considering putting the Fortunata Hypnosis: Chance for Placate in Charged Brawl.
Still debating on whether I want Lightning Field or not. If I DO take it, it will be slotted for end drain instead of damage to help sap things after a Power Sink.
I should be able to attain enough mitigation to stay in melee pretty much all the time without too many worries. Mez will suck, but it always does for a blaster, so I'll make sure I have some breakfrees and keep an eye out for mezzers. If it's frozen it won't be mezzing you.
Lightning Field is garbage by the way. -
Speaking from experience with near perma-DP build I can tell you that depending on DP as your main source of mitigation is going to be hard with some other source of mitigation for those times when you will not have at least 4 enemies to feed off of.
Also you don't need to go so all out on purples to achieve what you are aiming for. On my Psi/Mental, the only purple set I took was the Coercive Persuasion set for the recharge and defense, but otherwise you can achieve good recharge using oranges. I don't remember the exact numbers on my Blaster, but once I get home I can post them to give you some ideas of what to aim for. -
Personally I would forget about trying to cap smashing/lethal especially if you are going to be hover blasting. Focus on getting yourself to about 30% ranged defense and about 50% recharge (excluding Hasten) and drop Thunderstrike if you plan on being a hover Blaster.
I personally have never been a fan of type defense slotting on a Blaster because its far easier to go after positional defense and then refocus on damage/recharge balancing. You will get a lot more use out of the elec pool due to the nature of elec powers, unless you are going for a concept build in which case I can't help you there. -
When I used to go with a divided build on my Ice/Elec, I found that 25% ranged could easily offer you a load of survivablity, but then again my Ice/Elec also has a ridiculous amount of holds for a Blaster.

Quote:I'm not saying that at all. I use my area of effect powers as soon as they are recharged and could care less what team members think. Only a noob team would reject you because of your power selection. Playing with Energy/Energy is not hard at all and as along as you aren't blatantly using Energy Torrent, Power Push, or Explosive Blast when the Tanker or whomever has enemies tight, you shouldn't worry about it and just enjoy your character. However since you no longer have an Energy/Energy Blaster its kind of pointless to worry about at this point.Quick question for you all though. Considering we're basically saying in most team situations Energy should not use its AoEs, does this mean the set is a considerably less desirable team member to have? I know the main issue with Mind Blast is the lack of AoEs thing.

You don't need defense if your enemy is dead.
