nrg/nrg playing before and after lvl 20

So...I'm playing with my nrg/nrg blaster and am having a raucous ol' time.

I believe that it was Fulmens that stated in the Player Questions that NRG2 played well in up to the 20s but afterwards not so easy. Why is that?

Wouldn't it depend on play-style? After all, you can slot for damage/kb/acc/ etc., etc., which should make it just as fair to play in the lower end as the upper. Well, that's how I think anyway.

Any help out there or thoughts on this?

I personally believe its easier to play with Energy/Energy after 22 than getting to 22. Depending on your play-style you could struggle early and flourish later on or vice-versa.

On my E/E Blaster I haven't had any issues going from 1 to 50 although there was a rough patch in the 33 to 37 range because I was deciding which enemies I wanted to focus on mainly. Depending on your build you can slot for damage as you pointed out, but I would look at damage and recharge because if you can keep your mitigation powers charged you will have a cake walk to 50. Having Energy Torrent, Power Thrust, and Explosive Blast readily available will make your journey all the more easy because you will be able to dish out loads of damage AND keep enemies at bay from knocking them back while you wrap up killing their friends.

Most Blasters get a lot harder in the 30s and 40s. Energy / Energy is pretty much average in all respects... you can't get the extreme burst damage of Fire or the heavy control of Ice to help overcome the increased amount of mez you run into at higher levels. That means you're going to have more problems soloing (like most Blasters)... though you can get a decent amount of mitigation through knockback and stuns. The 30s tend to be the hardest part, since once you hit the 40s you can start picking up more mitigation through epic pool powers.

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.

I will be slotting for damage and recharge. So far, early on am slotting for acc and end red. Once I hit 20, and have stamina, will respec to acc/dmg/rech.

Cheers!

You might even want to look at frankenslotting your powers until you get to the point you want to start slotting IO sets.
