Just at a quick glance I'd strongly suggest against using the Armageddon in FSC if you intend to spam it a lot. It's a massive end hog and Armageddon offers almost no end redux to offset that.
-
How about something like this?
- Softcapped to all
- Decent S/L resists (~35%)
- Enough recharge to run the top ST attack chain of BB>SB>QS>BB>SB>CS
- Energize has ~75% uptime for solid regen
- Energy Drain available every 23 seconds for a full blue bar
- Shouldn't be terribly expensive.
Code:I chose the agility alpha for the recharge so it would have enough to run the top ST chain without hasten or a bunch of expensive purple sets. You can go with something else if you'd like though you will need a bit more negative defense to softcap if you do.| Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1507;697;1394;HEX;| |78DA65945B6F124114C76760B714E8055A5A5ACBA5405B28B5C8C6FAAAA9B61A6D5| |10CD17889D2958E7495500298D8473F8026FA60BD3CF860E2A31FC4EB07D1AACF1A| |C5C39E3F9484CD6E7E3367CE9CF99F99B3937BB836F4FEDCA353428E9CA9988D46B| |150AA9BB59AAAEB39B36C9544FB71D117EED88B3955512AB3615555D32A15579B4D| |B3743FD41D5D537755B5A132EB55552FEF15571FD44D319CDFDDAD64CE5AE59DA65| |52D8FDABD4D656EAB7A63C7AA0D75FA351AF4B26BA5EDEB5FAF59A5CCE9DDEDBD62| |CE6C34557D6F8A84A4E9BBE617785ABAD826189A7028B0C4D44C708B39700FFD49A| |2B4E73AC484B46DBE0073D2C7BCEE870BC5979DF9883788F88358D783753D887F83| |E63A31D7F9C169DB863E829F98239FC12F4CDF57E64D9AAB4BDDD6A6BF71D8B6A36| |FC1258EAF937E17EB77BA82D4086B626E8575CF6541833940BE6EE4EA46AE53C875| |0AB9BAC8C72BDB4E2DE98DF11A474049273FCCB988E1163D6290BC471171344E8D2| |4794798A128F33665E1C70EF8BF3B6C856307E03766A0C55905FE3027FF31DD147F| |1CF1C7A13804C511287692AA09ECC0043444A02112632E408B46BE41C40B225EEC0| |47535A7488045123BCD7AB5E97DC1F35F30932FC157E06BA68774CE705C6DE612C7| |5DDE00734CE3229867FA494B185AC2D092406E09E4B6455AA2D8BBE802EFC96C124| |C818BCC581AB4F8B4BCA429CE27E9883F45D53C662E3F618E918679D620E771CA0B| |6090C65238ED548A6D052ACC25D8965081EFA82432C83D7381F7F9D879701D9C655| |F631FE74BB1B33C4764FF0ABB060E3CF497C12697D9FFE7A14D9357794F16AF8097| |C102337D92ABFF476F1CE8FE7568734868483F039F33435AF716A1B75DDD51AD7B3| |7B4D27DA3D93E8BD16739DE6759E9B36C1EAE42BF276BC96BDD1B4748ECB3DBD7BD| |495A794FFBC4B87DABA76DF6B4EFF4B47F532D1868FF07D70ADBFE| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|

Why did you go for Kinetic Combats and Rectified Reticle? The melee defense you get from either of those sets is pitiful. Take those for a typed defensive set, not a positional one. I also question your desire to skip Burst and Grant Cover. Shield Charge is a nice aoe certainly but taking down any large groups will be painfully slow with no other aoe attacks. You're also short on recharge in Smashing Blow if you want to run the chain Santorican linked.
Code:With i19 you'll be able to pick up Leadership for Maneuvers, Assault, and either Tactics/Vengeance or a travel power. Note: I'm not sure if you'll need the i19 patched Mids to see that build properly or not, I went the old-fashioned way and did the fitness pool instead of using the inherents. -
Quote:Fiery Melee/ on a scrapper. Secondary is up to you but I'll give you a rundown on the combos I've tried.-Prefer melee
-Want to be able to take a good amount of guys on at once, but doesnt need to be able to tank. (I have a dark armor scrapper, and he taken last in big groups (solo).)
-Want to be able to kill a large group in a somewhat fast amount of time. Doesnt have to be all aoe, id be happy with average AOE and average Single Target damage.
-Flashy/looks are not that important.
Fire/Shields - Shields brings added damage through AAO and Shield Charge. Defense isn't quite as good as other sets, namely SR, with just SO/basic IO's
Fire/SR - SR is easy to softcap and offers a bit of recharge in Quick Reflexes. SR's performance with just SO's is wonderful though you'll feel the lack of aoe defense until you get your auto and toggle.
Fire/WP - WP is probably the easiest secondary set to work with. You get loads of regen, a better stamina replacement in Quick Recovery. Taking the alpha from a large group will hurt but a purple insp or 2 will give you enough defense to take the sting out and let your regen do its thing
Blaze or Mu for your APP gives you another aoe attack to have fun with. -
Shields will only end up around 30% defense or so with just SO's and taking Weave/Combat Jumping. You'll need sets to pick up the remaining 15%ish to softcap while solo.
Quote:To be perfectly honest, they are paying for the pvp IO to reduce the number of set bonuses they need to softcap, thereby allowing them a bit more freedom in their slotting. Also, why would you ever skip GC on a SD toon? GC provides some of your DDR and helps you to somewhat avoid cascading defense failures.I think it is funny when I see Sheild toons without Phalanx Fighting. I've found that many players without don't understand that it is toggle free defense even when solo. The power grants almost 3% defense to all. Players are paying upwards from 2 billion for a PvP IO that does about the same thing. On top of that, if you happen to be on a team your get even more defense when near an ally, like when fighting an AV. Then to top it all off, you don't even have to slot it with anything. It's the perfect LotG 7.5 mule.
Now, Grant Cover is a totally different story... -
Quote:This is caused by an issue with the implementation of shadows. I'm not sure which bit of the shadows causes it but if I set UM shadows to Lowest I don't see it. However, with UM shadows at Low or better I get these quick flashes all the time. Nothing major to be sure, but still annoying enough to turn down the shadows to avoid it. Also, I've only noticed the flashes during midday when the sun is brightest ingame. When the sun starts to set the problem goes away. The only problem I've been seeing are frequent flashing of the screen, like a black flash that lasts for a fraction of a second. I haven't played around with the video settings much to see what might be causing it. I have a Radeon 4770.
I know the problem isn't just me as someone in chat was mentioning they were having the same problem.
For the record I'm using a Radeon 4870 with Cat 10.8 drivers. -
Quote:Actually it doesn't have to have a 2s recharge. Factoring in arcanatime it would only need 195% to get down to the required 2.376s recharge to make that work. CS is the big recharge hog, but this chain isn't so bad. It only needs 204%. Figure 90% from slotting and its only 114% global which is Hasten and a few sets. If I've done the math correctly for PS that chain is roughly 189 dps with just the primary. It's fairly endurance friendly as well. Figuring 42% or so end rdx makes it 3.64 eps. Saturated AAO boosts that up to 242. Slotting in some procs makes it good for more but without sitting down and figuring out a build I couldn't say just how much more. I still wonder if there isn't a better chain out there. I know that chain is better than what I could come up with however.I think it might be: CS > SB > BB > QS > SB > BB
SB requires a lot of recharge to get down to 2.00 seconds, but it's not that difficult. It'd be easiest with Super Reflexes (easy LotG placement + Quickness). I think somewhere around 150% global recharge does it, depending on attack slotting. -
It's been a while since I stepped foot in Paragon City last and I see quite a few changes have been made in my absence. GR of course being the biggest one, but this new powerset intrigues me. Just a cursory glance over the power list suggests to me that this could be a top ST DPS contender with enough recharge but that brings me to my first question.
What is the best attack chain for KM? Or failing that, someone refresh my memory on how to calculate the stuff and I'll see what I come up with.
Is it possible to get Power Siphon perma stacked? I threw together a build for a KM/SR in Mids and even at 233.8% global its still something like 7.4 seconds short. Or does the +dam buff from each power last 10 seconds regardless of when PS itself expires, making this somewhat unnecessary?
Also, do PS and AAO stack in game? Mids would suggest otherwise but I'm not sure if this is just a bug. -
Quote:You'll probably want it while you level just to give you another attack to use but once you hit 50 I'd respec out and take Fire Sword in its place.Y'know, I was all set to roll up my DM/Regen scrapper... when I did a quick poll of characters I've already got.
3 Dark Melee (Scrapper, Tanker, Brute)
0 Fiery Melee
Sooo... at the last minute, I rolled up a Fiery Melee/Regeneration scrapper, instead.
Which leads into my current questions:
Scorch - is it worth taking on a Scrapper?
And a question for Regeneration:
Building up some additional mitigation looks like a good idea... so Tough seems like a good choice. The question is... would Weave be useful? While it's universal defense, it's also only, fully enhanced, 5.88 points of it. Is that worth the power pick and slots, when I've got nothing to stack that with?
Thanks! -
You don't need loads of recharge to get a respectable FM attack chain. Incinerate -> GFS -> Cremate -> FS only needs 134% recharge in GFS (combined enhancement and global recharge).

Quote:Your build doesn't have nearly enough recharge in MG. It's short some 30% but it's easy enough to tweak. Pull the either the cyto or the lotg:def/end from weave and put that slot on smite. Then swap the makos in MG for the hecatombs but replace the hecatomb:damage with the hecatomb:dam/rech and put a basic recharge IO in the 6th slot. It's still a tiny fraction off of enough recharge but the gap is only 0.03 seconds instead of 0.69.It does have less recharge, but only 10% and it's costing you recovery, regen, and HP. The build I posted has higher of all those in comparison. Take for example: Mine 317% Regen with the 149% Max HP heals 1584 HP a minute versus your 1062. That 10% Recharge difference is about .1 to .2/s difference across the board. Personally, I'd rather have more recovery and regen than waiting a millisecond difference for an attack to recharge. Also mind that the build can run weave and tough alongside all the normal secondary toggles and still only burns .84 eps, has dark consumption, and can sustain itself through an AV fight. Even if you don't care for the Tier 9, it finds itself cozy for the steadfast IO and is good to bounce back into a fight if (for some unholy reason) you either loose your toggles or dirt nap

Quote:If you build for enough recharge to use the top shelf dps chain your FSC will be recharging in under 9 seconds without any recharge in it. A full set of MultiStrikes will make that 7 seconds and reduce its endurance cost to 9.65 which is low enough to spam and not become a huge endurance drain. Factor in fully saturated AAO and your FSC will be doing roughly 370 damage to everything in range. 370 damage every 7 seconds is pretty substantial AOE damage output. While i don't have one, that's something i consider for a while. But i think fire/shield would be too low in the AE department for my expectations. The AE are good and damaging, yes, but the recharge on them is waaaay too long. It would be good burst damage, but pretty low sustained AE dps i think.
That might be better though, it all depends on your playstyle. -
This is the build I'd be using if I ever get around to getting my own DM/SD to 50. Has solid resistances for a SD, good regeneration and recovery, softcapped defense, enough recharge to run MG -> Smite -> SL -> Smite. Attack chain burns 3.57 EPS with 2.44 EPS recovery. Full blue bar from DC (with 5 mobs in range) every 54 seconds with CP on standby. Empty slot in True Grit is for the Gladiator's Armor 3% defense IO.

Quote:Also don't forget to change the scaling slider on the power itself in the main window to 0 after you do this.Options>Advanced>Database Editor>Main Database Editor>Scrapper Defense>Shield Defense>Phalanx_Fighting>Edit(in the bottom right of the right third of the screen)
Find power scaling in the bottom left of the new window and change the minimum from 1 to 0. Then save. -
Fire only needs about 40% global recharge to run Incinerate -> GFS -> Cremate -> FS and its just shy of that dps mark at 185. A few set bonuses and a proc or two will bump you over that easily.
-
You'll burn 17.32 endurance in 6.072 seconds for a total of 2.85 end/sec. You can run this attack chain for 142 seconds before hitting rock bottom on the stock 100 end. You'll last longer with Atlas Medallion and Portal Jockey of course. Twice as long in fact. Of course this matters little since your Conserve Power is only down for a bit over 83 seconds.
I know how hard it is to try and fit Aid Self, softcap, and pack in loads of recharge. I've been working on a build for my Fire/SD for weeks now but I always end up a few percent short on aoe defense and my S/L resistances are lower than I'd like. -
You aren't softcapped. You need to modify your copy of Mids' to set the scaling for Phalanx Fighting at 0. To do this go to Options -> Advanced -> Database Editor. Click Main Database Editor, select Brute_Defense in the first column, Shield_Defense in the second column, and double click Phalanx_Fighting to bring up its window. Change the minimum scaling value in the bottom left corner to 0 instead of 1. Save and close, then select Phalanx Fighting in the main window and set the scaler to 0. You will need to do this for the scrapper and tank versions as well.

It's a little out of date as it just changed development hands, but I bet it will be up to date soon.

The guy currently in charge of development had for a short period of time on friday released the updated version for i15 however there turned out to be several bugs with the way new stuff had been entered. He took it down and has said that he will hopefully have it fixed by this upcoming weekend. -
Going from 3 generic heal IO's to the Numinas Ehina listed would give you a tad bit more hp than you currently have. You lose 0.7% from True Grit itself but you gain 1.87% from the Numina set bonus

When I open your build with PF set at 0 allies i see 46.4% melee def, 47% ranged, and 44.5% aoe. What totals do you have?
[/ QUOTE ]
In-game: Melee 45.79%, Ranged 43.29%, AoE 43.29%
Mids': Melee 48.91%, Ranged 47.04%, AoE 47.04%
[/ QUOTE ]
Using the second build you posted I see 46.3%, 44.43%, and 44.43% in mids. -

Really I thought the bonuses expired after 2 minutes without the power on. I could move some slots around.
One more questions, what's the feeling on One with the Shield?
[/ QUOTE ]
As long as you have the power and the slots, i.e. you aren't exemped down, then you get the set bonuses regardless of whether or not the power is active. You're thinking of the IO's that provide some sort of buff like knockback protection or the miracle or numina uniques. -
Your copy if Mids' isn't setup correctly for Shield Defense. Go to Options -> Advanced -> Database Editor -> Main Database Editor, scroll down in the first column to Scrapper_Defense and click it, then in the middle column select Shield_Defense and double click Phalanx_Fighting in the third column. Change the power scaling in the bottom left corner to 0 minimum.
-
The attack chain of Incinerate -> GFS -> Cremate -> Fire Sword was calculated to be 185 dps if I remember correctly. Also one more thing to note about that build I posted. You can run that attack chain for roughly 5 minutes before going dry. However if you pick up Portal Jockey and Atlas Medallion that time shoots up to a bit over 34 minutes.
-
Couple tips using Mids' first. Don't export set totals or the set breakdown, and also use the short forum export. Keep in mind that most people who will offer you help also have Mids and will just import your build into it to take a look.
Now as for your build, it's not terrible certainly but it can be improved substantially. This is your build with a few tweaks, nothing too costly change-wise either. This trades in the extra defense and recharge for more hitpoints and quite a bit more regeneration. It does sacrifice a bit of accuracy as well but with SR you're a bit more free to slot your attacks as necessary, hence the frankenslotting in Cremate and Incinerate.
