  1. For which AT Shield defense is better for--- depends on the attack set AND the player really. Shield with SOs only is ok, add IOs and it gets really good.

I have 2 lvl 50 Shield toons-- BS/ Shield scrap and Shield/ SS tank. Both have stood against LR in the STF w/o external buffs---> Only using temp powers and inspires. Granted when the scrapper did it, I did die quite a few times until the Blue and Red tower were down. Did I mention this was on an all scrapper STF?

Last time with the tank, we saw after we started that we had no buff toons nor single target heals. Just a slight overlook there, but my SG likes to do crazy team set-ups. So, watching my defense #'s, drop a few purps, activate OwtS and jump at LR. Once OwtS drops, toggle on the Wedding Band. Use greens, purps and oranges as necessary. Almost got me once or twice, but regen and greens got me back to full health, no problem really.
  2. Well, you want a HO? Why not go for SHOs (synthetic HO)? Easier to get a team to do STF or LRSF and complete it then to find enough people on the spur of the moment to do a Hami Raid.

Having more than 8 is good, real life often rears its head and causes a few no shows.

If people are interested, I can invite people to our TS server for voice chatty goodness. Lurking is normal if you are mic-less, everyone (especially me) enjoys the sound of my voice, just ask me. I'll tell you.

I'd like to be able to give this a go, but this is my weekend to work. Now, I haven't worked on a Sunday yet in this new job--> they keep calling me off so put me down as an alternate for now. I should know by Friday if I will be working. I'm trying to get my scrappers to test right now.

    Sonic upgrade

Add Psi resist to Clarity? Not gonna happen because it would be overpowered--> the Psi resist would have to be flagged as not stackable. The Devs have explored the possibility of having powers that grant status protection (like Clarity, Clear Mind, Thaw.....) not be stackable. And we know where that has gone.

Add Psi resist to Sonic Dispersion? That is interesting and frankly more likely to happen. But I would think it would be a unenhanceable 5%. Just like the accolade from the Rikti invasion.

But defenders and controllers can already get psi resist on their own if they so desire. I have the feeling that while many might like it, the Devs won't think it's necessary.
  5. <QR> Yeah damn copy tool not working. I was made aware of this event 2 hrs beforehand and I couldnt get even 1 of my 4 lvl 50 scrappers I would have considered using. And as I'm typingthis now, I'm loading Test just to see if they got copied at all.....

Nope. Copy tool must still be broken.
  6. Why are you fighting bosses in a hazard zone? If its for the challenge, then yeah that's fine. But the "I want all my abilities in a hazard zone when fighting non-players" whine doesn't convince me that RttC needs a change for PVP, looked at, MAYBE.

Simply put: go street sweep in a normal zone. For a challenge: do so in a hazard zone.

Also in regards to RttC, changes in PVP were brought about to make a more even playing field. (Please no debating about this point, I am in no way stating I approve or disapprove of the pvp changes) WP was always ridiculouly overpowered in terms of regen for PVP. Even with RttC dropping, it stills does have a good amount of regen, just not the godly numbers from before.

So, if you want RttC to not detoggle in a PVP situation, then the -to hit needs to go away. I would also say that the amount of regen gained from it would need to be nerfed as well. Either reduce the amount gained and/or set the target cap at 1 period.

I'd throw in another vote for Ice/Stone (given your criteria) although Ice/DM has more flexibility in the build I think (more skippable powers when combined).

    Ditto
  8. Opinions change. I know my Shield/ SS tank is my favorite and my BS/ Shield scrapper is pretty darn good too.

To the OP: Playstyle for SHield and Fire Armor seem to be the same IMO at the lower lvls. Kill them before they kill you. While both FA and Shield benefit greatly by IO set bonuses and additional powers (tough, weave, manuevers, combat jumping, stealth, or heck even temp powers), Shield pulls ahead. Although the lack of a self-heal in the Shield set is a drawback, it does have 1 thing FA does not--- +HP, 2 sources in fact. Easier to cap HP = easier to have higher Regen #'s.

As for the end usage of Shield, it has been demonstrated that it is middle of the line for tanker sets. Biggest end drain at 1 time is Active Defense. With enough recharge it can be double stacked for a good bit if not made permanent and, with the additional use of HOs, get really good def debuff too.
  9. The Aegis +def IO set bonus is now not correctly working in Mids. The recent patch/ update stated that the Aegis +def bonuses were scaled per AT. So tanks were getting more of a bonus, more than the 1.585 AOE +def advertised in the IO set bonuses.
  10. Only the devs have access to this info and they won't share.
  11. I'll just pipe in with my 2 cents.

There is no reason to do a respec trial, just go to a trainer and switch to 2nd build. Then you get to select your powers/ slots from lvl 1 again- Since you have spent no influence on enhancements in this build.

You can purchase lvl 35-50 enhancements in PI, Ritki War Zone, Cimerora AND with AE tickets. Even as a 4 yr vet I was still wowwed by a new player when they said they bought their SOs at AE. I just never thought of doing that myself. LOL
  12. Or drop Barrage and get Bone Smasher.

What type of hero are you? Some of the ATs solo slower/ harder than others.
  14. Mr_Body

    Few questions

Most sewer teams stop when most of the team is lvl 6 or so.

Since you mentioned sewer teams, I'll say you are on a hero. Mission objectives could have you traveling to another zone for a mission door or to talk to someone (like a new contact) or doing some street hunting. If it is street hunting, certain areas in a zone contain different foes. You can look at your map to determine where in a zone these foes are by adjusting the slider at the side of the map to zoom in or out. Then you can click and hold on a place on the map and move the cursor around to see any print in different sections (moving will center the map around yourself again).
If you are told to go to a different zone: there are train stations and gates (located on the sides of the map) that can go to other zones. All train stations are located on the map by a T in a circle. The gates are color coded: green is a normal zone, and red is a hazard zone which has a lvl restriction.
To use the train station, walk up to the middle part, hover the mouse over the door, once the hand curser pops up (you may have to get closer if it doesn't show), click, and you will get a selection of destinations. For the gates: green-- just walk thru and after a short walk/run you will zone; red-- walk up to a guard, hover mouse over guard (usually around the waist), once hand pops up, click.

At level 6, rather than going to do AE mission, most experienced players will direct you to go to Kings Row, where a new contact will pop up in your nav bar/ compass. It is a Detective. Go talk to the detective and he will give you a police scanner. The police scanner will show up in your contact list and will allow you to pick up missions without running to a contact. After a certain # of missions, the scanner will inform you to go back to the detective. He will then give you a bank mission. Successfully completing the bank mission for the first time will give you a temp power. For each lvl range (they go by 5 lvls) there is a new temp power for the new bank mission. The first and second bank missions give out travel powers, a flight pack and a jump pack. And talking to the detective again, he will give you a new contact. You can then stay in Kings Row or go to another zone, run police band missions or do normal contacts, join a team, and/or do whatever.
  15. Simple explanation: Devs hate villains.

Difficult Explanation: Villains don't get the aggravation of having to travel from zone to zone for the majority of their contact's missions. They mostly stay in the same zone as said contact. Plus, with RIP (Rogue Isle Police), Longbow, and minor villain groups attacking player villains on sight, that makes each villain zone sort of like hazard zones themselves.
  16. I would ask in Technical Issues forum.
  17. Go to create a new character, look at the costume themes. If you selected the magic pack, then there should be a magic theme generic costume in the list. Then you can play around and look at specific costume parts.
  18. [ QUOTE ]

Arc# 70409: This is the Freak Room. Go straight to the end of the map (bit of a run) ... there is a large room with about 60 Freaks (LTs) inside. This room spawns ambushes of the same type of Freaks to a mob count of over 300. There are two machines in this room that provide regen and recovery auras. Fight at the machines. Usually only the Tankers and well built Scrappers survive in this mission. The rest just leech while dead. You can run this on CL1-5 depending on the strength of the Tankers in question. Above L24, I suggest CL5 for any Tanker besides Fire and WP (usually L32+ for those depending build). Ranged ATs with Hover can survive this room if played well. Auto SK to 50. Having multiple Tankers (or even a group comprised totally of Tankers) is a good thing for this mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, lvl range for this is 45-50. Auto-exempt to 45. Final room is a real trip.

With any of the OP's suggested arcs, watch out for builds using just SOs as if you outlevel them, anyone's survivability can be in serious jeopardy.

They probably are hiding from you because they don't want to deal with your poor grammar and sentence structure.

As for "about every acount," I hereby call for a vote, anyone who doesn't have a Fire/kin troller please speak up! I put myself on the list as #1.
  20. shhhhhhhhh! The purple proc is broken (in a good way ) in caltrops. shhhhhhhhh! (unless they fixed it )
  21. <QR>

Slot for recharge unless you want a particular set bonus or special IO. And you have better, earlier powers to slot the Steadfast uniques in (Resilence gets my vote over Reconstruction).
  22. <QR>
um, Ignore the request to turn off Dispersion Bubble and don't bubble that peep. It's their HP and debt. If it becomes detrimental to the team, then the leader should say something. But honestly, I have never heard of this before. Most informed players are glad for any buffs. And FF buffs are the least invasive of any of the buffs. Sonic and Thermal can add lag to older systems with less than optimal specs and some peeps just cannot handle SB (either personally or their comp). IMO, this may be a AE baby, i.e. inexperienced new player.

(edit: forgot to mention cold shields)
  23. CI arcs 100% of the time with some caveats:

    1) there must be another target in melee range of the last affected target;
    2) it will not affect same target more than once per application;
    3) if any target is defeated, it stops there; and
    4) if you slot a proc in it, then it arcs at the % of the proc (not a good idea, find another place for that proc).

There is also the odd chance that in a large spawn, all at/near full HP, CI will go on a tangent to the outskirts of that spawn and find no legal targets even though there is more than the max targets for it surrounding you.

Also, CI has a lower activation time than JL, in fact only Charged Brawl is faster in the whole set. And JL is the only cone attack Electric melee has so unless you have Sands of MU, is it really worth it lining up 1 single cone attack?

    STF

I was playing my Shield Tank who is not quite softcapped (43+% melee, 42+% ranged, & like 41.7% AOE) for a STF run the other week. We lost our Emp before last mish and everyone was sweating how we would finish. Now we had a Kinectics defender but no other support toon left. We cleared everything up to LR, then I went to get inspires. On the way back to mish, I asked a friendly Sonic resonance troller for buffs (they were waiting to start their own STF run). Once in, the Flier had respawned. So by the time we defeated it, the sonic buffs were almost gone. Here's how it went: first inspire tray-- I had mostly respites and lucks with a few oranges. Watching my stats-- I used OwtS and dropped a few lucks to get to around 75% defense. Keep that defense number up there, stagger those lucks so they all dont run out at same time. When Sonic buffs finally went, turned on the Wedding Band and dropped oranges to keep my resists up. Team attacked blue tower, then red. I got hit more then a few times but my regen rate plus the respites kept me up. After the blue and red tower were down, LR hardly hit me and my survival was guaranteed. We had lots of damage so the towers went down fairly quickly. I continued to use Lucks and oranges for those times he seemed to get a lucky streak in.

I've also done this with my BS/ SD scrapper on an all scrapper STF. Though the lower HP and resist caps made it more problematical. I died more than a few times on that 1 and last mish took almost 2 hrs but we were persistent.

AS for where to taunt or pull LR? I found that straight back away from where the Flier respawns works well just in case it comes back. Just be sure to let him stay close to you so AAO can disrupt his pet summoning. And make sure if someone is buffing you, tell them where and when you will move

Yes, yes, why only lvl 40's at some points? Why for a lvling build and exemplaring. Replace with the max values if that is your taste.

[Edited] Don't forget even if you are good on HPs, you can fire off Dark Regen hoping to get positive End if you are in a big mob.
