Flavor of the month Powersets ...

So I've now been around long enough to see a pattern of certain Powersets that players use but I wanted to check with the forum gods to see your thoughts as well.

Here are the powersets I see played the most:

Defender
Emp/anything

Tanker
Stone/Stone or Stone/Fire
Inv/anything

Controller (this one is easy)
Fire/Kin

Blaster
Fire/anything
Elec/Elec

Scrapper (This one is not as easy to determine)
Spines/__
Claws/

Is there a way to see the exact amount of Powersets used in the game? Like 50% of Controllers use /Kin or something?

Only the devs have access to this info and they won't share.

Scrapper: anything/anything

My experience says that all of those are just a tiny faction of the total for that AT. They might be the single largest, but 50% would be just insane.

I see a lot of WP and shields tankers and scrappers. The sword scrappers are also quite popular.

I see an awful lot of SS Brutes, and as the "new shiny" there are still Shield characters all over the place.

If I had to pick one powerset that I see the most, though, it would be Fitness.

Oh SS Brutes are FOTGame especially SS/WP (which is already ez-mode and can farm on SOs).

Funny...when I play my elec/elec people make me feel like a red-headed stepchild for playing such an underperforming set

Goodbye, City of Heroes...I'll miss you.

On Justice as @Amperrie (well, for a little while longer...)

The last few times this topic has come up in a thread, it was generally felt that Spines is the least played powerset among scrappers.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

There are Shield Stalkers everywhere, but you can't see them hiding behind their shields.

Likely only due to the looks and I still see a decent amount of them(Spines/dark and Spines/fire for farming). Since scrappers are at least within the top 3 of hero ATs played(I forget what the official order of the top 3 is), it's hard to say what's least played because I see so many of them anyway.

I think there are a number of Stone tanks because they are known for being unkillable in Granite form, but I see a lot of WP tanks as well due to how well that set performs. There were a number of nerfherding threads on WP for sometime after it came out.

Controller (this one is easy)
Fire/Kin

[/ QUOTE ]

If Fire/kin is #1, then Ill/rad is #2. Fire/rad is probably #3, but Ill/emp is a great pairing and is likely the #2 pairing for Ill.

Blaster
Fire/anything
Elec/Elec

[/ QUOTE ]

Archery/mental for the sheer AoE. Fire/fire is too much of a classic to not list. Same as Ice/ice. I have one of both and I like them a lot even though they are complete opposites. Gah, Ice/em needs to be added as well. En/en just for the theme. AR/dev, but mostly back in the day when it was so broken.

Spines/__
Claws/

[/ QUOTE ]

Spines/regen for a classic combo with Spines/wp being the newer one. Spines/dark and Spines/fire for farming. Claws/regen(Wolverine wannabes) and Claws/sr(for all of the cat girls) would be leading by a large margin. MA/sr would be the standard martial arts/Batman guy. Kat and Bs/regen. /regen in generally really for scrappers.

Not all powersets are popular for technical reasons. AR/Dev because lots of people like guns and they fit thematically, Empathy for teh healzors.

Don't forget Claws/Regen.

[/ QUOTE ]I take offense to this! You've obviously never seen me on a Katie Hannon Task Force to realize the true obscene power of the combo!

Thank you for the posts guys. That was the information I was looking for.

There is more FOTM talk in the threads than there are FOTM playing the game.

What makes you think all claws/regens are Wolverine wannabes? My claws/regen happens to be a cyborg who's regeneration comes from nanomachines that can repair flesh and metal with equal ease.

I wouldn't be surprised if a version of Wolverine has been that at one point.

My Claw/Regen is a pseudo-immortal "angel" character, created when the Talsorian weapons were added to the game.

If someone can't come up with a concept other than a Wolverine-ish one when it comes to Claws/Regen, then that's their problem.

That also sounds like something that Wolverine's been retconned into.

I wouldn't know. Did Wolverine go through a phase where his first appearance was in the 1600s when a small girl was "chosen" by the growth of angelic wings? The pseudo-immortality part is that every 50 years a new girl is "chosen" to take the mantle of the old, and every girl is nearly identical in features to the last.

I made her for the talsorian blades. Regen just made sense to me for the rest of her concept, and it has a suitable glow to it.

Yup. Sounds like Wolverine to me. I'm going to assume your girls are all named Logan and say "bub" a lot.
