Some questions about caltrops
I don't solo AVs but I have that power on one of my scrappers (dm/regen). Everybody "tries" to run. AVs and EBs don't seem to be bothered by the slow effect so they tend to move off of them a lot faster. MG and web will keep them in check though.

The way I understand it (because it's the way it works) is that caltrops has somewhere around mag 50 "afraid" effect (which makes most mobs scatter). Most AVs have a mag 50 protection to most status effects, including "afraid".
They won't run from a single aplication of caltrops, but the moment you stack it they will run away. This of course isn't an issue if you can keep them immobilized with MG
shhhhhhhhh! The purple proc is broken (in a good way ) in caltrops. shhhhhhhhh! (unless they fixed it )

Silverado is correct, once you stack caltrops, there gonna take off running. I grabbed it on my claws/sr just because I needed to pick a new power. I toss it out occasionally, but it isn't really a huge benefit. It does help on the STF though. Throw them out on the towers and the repair men don't stand a chance. I also use them on the ITF, toss em under the Cysts. There not going anywhere.
Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?
Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?
In my experience, AVs are almost perma-immobilized by Midnight Grasp, only occasionally breaking free for a short period. So on the surface, it looks like Caltrops would be good addition to AV soloing damage.

Can't complain about adding more control, I guess. Don't stop applying Touch of Fear, though. That ToHit debuff adds up and can prevent even AVs from slapping you around. At least is does for my DM/Nin stalker.
Too many alts to list.
I'd rather not lose DPS on an attack that does no damage. I'd rather get my survivability elsewhere. But I suppose there are many ways to skin that cat.

I assume by this you mean the Ragnarok chance for knockdown. What about damage procs? Can they fire 4 times?

I skipped TOF on my dm/sr for that reason and never regretted it and later on my dm/da build I dropped it and never looked back

ToF got me through croatoa and them red cap bosses. I later respected it.
I would also like to know about the proc % chance in caltrops. That power can slot the slow IO procs and the target aoe procs. That could be transformed into a nasty power worth more then one slot depending on what the % roll is.

You'd think that would lead you to respect it at the time rather than later.
PS: It's "respec", short for respecification, there's no T in it

Right... At least you knew what I was trying to say. Lol

I'm levelling up a DM/Inv scrapper at the moment, and while it's still quite young I am already thinking ahead towards an AV soloing build for it. Looking through powers I had a thought that caltrops may actually function quite well in the build, though I have no first-hand experience with the power (and don't see it used often) so I'd like to clarify a few points.
The numbers listed for caltrops suggest it actually has a very strong DPA given that the extended time frame isn't very important on AVs and there is no hit check. I'd be using a high recharge build for an optimal attack chain so it should be up quite often (and stacked multiple times over).
Would running be an issue? My experience suggests that AVs typically ignore these kind of afraid effects, at least when PToDs are up, and I'm assuming that using MG with great frequency will keep the AV immoblized anyway. I don't expect this to be a problem but wanted some reassurance.
How will procs function in the power? Is it a rain type effect where they have a chance to fire every 10 seconds? If any procs used in the power have a chance to fire 4 times then the effective DPA of the power should be very high.
I don't recall seeing caltrops used in any AV soloing builds and I'm curious to know if there are significant problems with it. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
