  1. Hmmm, I seem to play all my toons by the rules that you've set for this character and have never even come close to that number.

So are you crafting your recipe drops and selling them or are you just putting the uncrafted recipes up on the BM? Because quite honestly, none of my toons since i9 have ever reached over 3 mil by lvl 30 without some extremely lucky drop (or more) coming my way... just sayin'.

Exactly right. And I'd also say that even though a casual player who does have that knowledge may not want to spend extra time marketeering when they could be running missions.

In fact, I do know how to make some quick cash when I need it, but choose not to waste a lot of time at a crafting table when I could be smashing things in the face... the game is just simply more enjoyable for me that way.

So, in reality, when you factor in purchasing DOs/SOs as they level up, the casual player's cash reserve usually doesn't even break the 1 million mark until level 30 or later.

Sadly, marketeering just may become common knowledge for all casual players if the game's economy doesn't improve... then where would all you ebil niche flippers be?

^This... anyone remember the enormous base fiasco a few issues back?

After all, what's the point of having new toys if you can't even use them, or worse yet, your base gets corrupted and suddenly disappears completely?

Well there are people out there who will invite you to a team because you're a higher level. Then they'll automatically promote you to leader status because your missions have better xp. Also, they expect you to find more people to fill the team as other members commonly drop after a few missions, since you're the leader now.

Sorry, but I didn't sign up for all of that. If I wanted to start my own team, I would've done so already.

Perhaps this scenario doesn't happen to you, but it does to me way more often than I'd like it to. Thus, I don't really have much heartburn about putting that tag in my search note.

Sadly though, good recipes are really drying up at an outrageous rate. If this keeps up, I'll soon be in the 2-billion-club without a single thing worth buying.
  7. AFAIK it will still be there until you return. I've never heard of a SG being deleted due to inactivity in the past, so you should be okay.

I totally agree! Bringing back the 5th Column is kind of a bitter-sweet experience.
  9. I always try to use pop-culture as a reference for my pet names and it usually seems to get a nod or chuckle from fellow teammates...

    Necrominous (Necro/Dark)
    -------------------------
    Zombies: Renfield, Igor, Hecubus
    Grave Knights: Mumm-Ra, Hordak
    Litch: Thulsa Doom
    Soul Extraction: Casper

    Dr. Leadfoot (Bots/Traps)
    -------------------------
    Battle Drones: Twiki, V.I.N.CENT, Conky
    Protector Bots: Gort, Nomad
    Assault Bot: ED-209
  10. <--- keeps stabbing thread but it JUST WON'T DIE!!!
  11. Dark Miasma is a very useful Secondary in these types of situations. With a soft hold in Fearsome Stare and a nice Slow in Tar Patch, usually you can get off a few heals with Twilight Grasp for you and your pets. And if that's not enough, the secondary effects of those powers lower the enemy's damage resistance, to-hit chances and regeneration rate... making them a lot easier to kill.

Actually, I can relate to this, because it's happened to me more than once.

My favorite is when (about a year ago) a friend of mine and I thought it would be cool to start a Positron TF one night. Got a full team of 8 and set off on our merry way. On the 1st mish one person DCed and never came back. During the 2nd mish, 3 people decided that the CoT were too tough and quit. And about the 6th mish another person just gave up.

Left with a SS/Inv tank, an Ele/EA tank and a Rad/Rad defender, we were determined to finish the TF and plodded through the whole thing until the end. It only took us 7 hrs. and 45 min. to complete and sure got one helluva workout that night. LOL

    Unluckily Lucky

Wow, complaining about getting purples... that's a new one.

I've only had 2 purples drop since i-9 went live and I paly a LOT! Then again, I don't farm much, either.

    Anyway, gratz!

    Absolutely CLASSIC!!!
  15. I'm having a blast with my Necro/Dark! Good survivability with all of the debuff flying around and plus the pets get their own heal with Dark Empowerment. So steamrolling an EB isn't really a problem... not only that, but they look cool doing it, too!
  16. I'm sure the devs had a good reason for keeping everyting separate between the factions as the good vs. evil concept dictates, but it was never really practical in terms of actual game play.

As it stands now, the market on redside is so barren that I'm sure it gives many people hesitation to create a new villain or even play CoV due to the fact that most decent recipes simply aren't available at the BM. In fact, even such a fairly common set like Thunderstrike is nonexistant.

I think it's time to either merge the markets or up the merit count on redside so it's at least comparable to blueside... otherwise CoV will die a slow and painful death.

And as already mentioned, not being able to trade inspirations on co-op teams is absolutely ridiculous!

  18. Since we're getting a new mail system in i-17 anyway, I really hoped that it would include SG invites via email, so those of us who don't have a social network in the game could easily run our own SG... without hassling someone else for help. It's a QoL issue that is long overdue.

How could you NOT know of Green Arrow's main squeeze? Here, check out THIS LINK and learn about the pure awesomeness that is Black Canary!

Honestly, posting the Lev Gleason 'Daredevil' and being totally clueless about a pivotal golden age character like Black Canary makes no sense to me.
  20. Hmmm, catgirl humor. As Alex Trebek would say: "Hahahahahaha... no."
  21. I got a lvl 10 Stun (magic/mutation) DO this evening by doing the Skyway bank mish on my lvl 12 corruptor, so EricHough could be on to something here.
  22. I noticed this too on my lvl 20 bots/traps MM... sometimes they just stand around laughing at the beating you're taking. When this happens, I just hit the "aggressive" button for all pets and they seem to respond well to that, but you usually have to re-summon a few after the battle.

Necromancy is one of those lucky MM sets that has a power that accepts the recharge intensive pet sets (soul extraction) so take advantage of it.

Specifically you want to get slot the following IOs:

    Sovereign Right: Resistance Bonus
Edict of the Master: Defense bonus
Call to Arms: Defense bonus aura
    Expedient Reinforcement: Resist bonus aura

The first two can be slotted in any of your pet summons powers and in soul extraction, the second two can only be slotted in soul extraction.

Unfortunately, the only pet bonus recipes listed at the BM are ones within the last 3 to 5 levels of their max level... and on the rare occasion there happens to be a lower level one available, it sells for no less than 5 million (20 mil is about the norm). Thus, the chance of grabbing any of these before you hit level 40 is pretty much impossible (unless you're swimming in infamy).

With that said, there's always the merit route... but like I mentioned before, it would take forever to accumulate enough, since each pet bonus recipe costs at least 240 merits and there are 4 recipes to get... just do the math.

So it's fairly safe to say that if you're a casual player, your MM's pets are going to suffer far more damage than they should until level 40 and more likely even beyond that... making the option for better pet survivability at lower levels a moot point. Having come to this conclusion, I'm going to seriously rethink my build and see if there's any way to get around this problem without sacrificing other powers to do it... any suggestions? Quite honestly, I don't think it can be done, but I'm no expert either. LOL

Yep, I checked it out and you are absolutely correct... I didn't know that, so thanks.

That's a perfectly valid method and the thought did cross my mind, but I'd rather not spend all of my MM's career in AE just to get the few recipes he wants. Other people don't mind AE, but I find it more of a grind than the regular content... especially when solo.
