Question for any One-Player SGs out there
I have friends who are willing SG-mules. Friends don't rob you.

Hello all,
This is directed to players who are the only characters in their SG. I'm wondering how you go about recruiting your new characters? Do you just broadcast for some kind soul to do it and hope that they don't rob you blind (from your racks, etc.)? Or how do you go about allowing permissions so that your new toons can then access salvage racks, etc. I once had TWO accounts and this worked, but to pay another $16.23/month JUST so I could get my characters in my SG didn't seem financially feasible to me. Just wondering how others get around it. Thanks for any tips! |
You have to involve a 3rd party.
What you do is set the lowest rank such that they have invite privileges, but nothing else. No bin access.
Invite the 3rd party, then swap and have them invite your character.
I happily offer my services for an invite or two if you want, I'm normally available early evenings Eastern.

Being a reactivation weekend, you should log into your old account and do a lot of inviting now!
And then use your reactivated account to create characters to be in your SG, as you get a prestige bonus for first 15. Please make the throw away characters have names that other people are not likely to want, this will make it easier to boot them from group if you ever do get other people in and need room (eg called prestige-12sd1).
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
I use bridges to get my alts into my SG.
It's not too bad for me since I run one alt at a time. I'm not the kind to jump from one to another in the span of a few weeks. I run an AT & if I like it I keep running until it is lvl 50 & slotted up to the max. I then rinse & repeat.
Obviously you have to alter the permissions of all your sensitive storage bins when dealing with a bridge but until the devs give us off-line sg invites you can't get around this headache.
Thank you all for your input. I appreciate your taking the time to respond.
Catwhoorg, thanks for your kind offer. I may take you up on your offer!
Tanstaafl, that's a good idea about using my 2nd account this weekend. Do they mean that by free re-activation, that if I cancel my account before tonight (Sunday), I'm not charged a full month's fee?
Again... thank you all for your help!

No. Inactive accounts get a free four-ish days of play time (Thursday through Sunday). There is no way to cancel the account. It's already canceled. It's just active and will automatically go inactive tonight.

Do I reactivate it just as I would normally? Go into that account and "Reactivate" it? And if I chose to kept it permanently active, how would one go about doing that?

You should be able to just fire up the game and login.

Ah! Okay... thanks for the clarification, Aggelakis.

Since we're getting a new mail system in i-17 anyway, I really hoped that it would include SG invites via email, so those of us who don't have a social network in the game could easily run our own SG... without hassling someone else for help. It's a QoL issue that is long overdue.

As to the question of how to set permissions for your storage racks/tables/etc....
- You need be on one of your toons that has edit permissions (see the settings button in the sg roster to set SG permissions by rank).
- Then, you go to the storage item in question, open it up as if you were going to add/take, and hit the permissions button that is now at the top of the salvage window.
- You have to set the permissions for each storage rack/table individually. Tedious, but on the other hand it makes for great customization. We have racks that are open to all, and special racks that are for leaders only.

YUMMY Low-Hanging Fruit for BASE LUV
I just came back to the game after a long layoff. My friend and I had a SG but he no longer plays so I'm down to a 1 person SG. I had an old account from a long, long time ago so I re-activated that old account for 1 month, then used my laptop to log into it and created a bunch of toons that I want to play eventually and was able to invite them to the SG through a toon from the old account. Basically, it gave me 30 days to figure out what toons I want to play down the road and fill up my server slots and they are just sitting there ready to go whenever I get time to get to them eventually. So if you don't want to pay for 2 accounts every month, you could do this although you won't be able to delete and add new toons after that 30 days.
If you need someone to handle SG invites for your toons, let me know. I'd be more than happy to help out a fellow 1 person SG.
