Quote:I would greatly appreciate it if more people can comment on this statement here.Siphon Power and Siphon Speed both have a very high base accuracy and recharge quickly I would just slot them with a single recharge or if you really want the speed two recharges but save the third slot for something else.
Does one not need any accuracy in Siphon Speed when facing +4s? -
Quote:Forum etiquette dictates you post your Mids build so that other players may offer advice & criticism. In honor of this summers upcoming Thor movie (drool) I was wondering what kinda builds people have come up with that involved the mighty Hammer (mace) here. I've been wanting to start one up, and so I did, Will/Mace. But almost went with Inv/Mace instead as it seems to cover the comic character better, but I wanted to be able to swing my weapon freely and not fight the inevitable energy crash. Thus Will/Mace.
Anyway, would love to see what anyone has come up with and post it here. -
I'd like to hijack this thread to point out how in my opinion the devs dropped the ball with respect to the alpha enhancement.
What they should have done was allow players to create alpha enhancements that would enhance any aspects the player preferred.
The obvious answer as to why this wasn't allowed is it would cause an imbalance.
What's done is done but I'm still gonna cry about it.

Quote:Freedumb's my only server. You see I'm a gamer, not one of those thin-skinned folk.I transferred my characters that were on Freedom off at the first opportunity that was free.
That is the only server which I do not have any characters on.
I've never been kicked off a team or tf because I'm the one running the show.
If you want rough, non-stop action come to Freedumb.
If you want someone to hold hands with, go with one of the others.
To address the OP it seems if they ever allowed a universal server access people would have to rename some of their alts whether that name was already taken on the server they attempt to log on to.
The more likely solution to the name issue created by cross-server access would be to tag each character on every given server with a tag on the name tied to the server from which the character originates.
In closing I will say Freedumb is not 100% rough 'n tumble gaming. I have seen some folk holding hands under Atlas. -
Quote:Inherent fitness means an additional 3 ONE SLOT powers at your disposal.Disclaimer: I know that plenty of perfectly effective builds exist that spend power slots getting stamina. I don't really have strong feelings about this issue, it just tweaks me the wrong way and I must comment.
[minor rant]
I am shocked and a little disturbed by how many people still have 3 powers spent on fitness pool. I thought maybe they didn't know, so I've asked a couple times and in both instances, the person responded that they just didn't bother respeccing, or obstinately refused to respec.
Come on... if you're running Apex or something and can't figure out how to use 3 entire power choices to make your character better, I'm a little disappointed. You're willing to grind away for incarnate shards, but not .. I don't know, pick up medicine pool, or fighting pool, or recall friend, or leadership. All these things would help the team, and some of them wouldn't even require spending more enh slots.
I can understand some builds not taking power X, saying they don't need it and justifying it, and that's fine, but giving up 3 whole power slots just so you can NOT have one of the fitness powers is dumb. Fortunately, the game isn't really hard enough that it REALLY matters anyway, but it bothers me on some fundamental level and I don't know why.
Obviously, before the fitness was free, these characters were viable. Every time I see them now, I consider them to have roughly the same level of familiarity with the game as someone who uses jump kick and team flight in combat.
Just... go respec now, and we will speak nothing further of it.
[/minor rant]
Making a thread to complain people aren't fitting 3 ONE SLOT powers into their build is very nub.
The people who got the most out of Inherent fitness are those who needed the extra 15% global recharge they could now get by slotting 3 LotGs.
Not to mention picking up Recall Friend for those players too nub to get to key areas of the map on their own.
Leadership pool is nice. A lot of good 1 slot wonders there.
In closing, I don't mind people not taking advantage of Inherent fitness as much as I mind people making nub threads.
See what you done did? Now Mod 05's gonna ban me from posting!
See you all after my ban. -
Is this a joke thread or something?
You're describing everyday "real life" in your post.
If you wouldn't give up on "real life" when "real" friends & family move on then why would this game be any different?
Life, whether it be in the physical world or the virtual, is full of change.
People.
Places.
Circumstances.
They all change at one point or another. We have no choice but to adapt to change. -
You're dissatisfied with the views/replies ratio?
A person should post on the forums because they're interested in dialogue, not because they want their ego stroked.
Good lord man, get a grip. -
The only time I mind a random buff is when someone hits me with thermal or ice shields. I don't care if they're the best buffs in the game, I don't like how they look and that's that.
Sonic/Force shields aren't so bad since they aren't as graphically intrusive to me.
I have no problem whatsoever with Fortune buffs. Having to click the accept button for the Fortune doesn't bother me at all.
The devs could always implement a feature in options that will enable or disable buffs from non-team members but I'm sure there are technical reasons why such a feature could never be implemented. -
I have a lvl 47 Necro/Poison & I'm happy to share the xp with all.
First and foremost until you get the Lich you will not handle large number of enemies well.
Always use Weaken first to help your Grave Knights take the alpha.
I will say at around lvl 35 I wasn't able to take a even level Malta Titan EB on my own. I had to recruit some help.
Bottom line is Bots, Thugs and Demons will offer better performance when paired up with Poison than Necro will.
I went Necro with my Poison because I already had a Thug/Dark and a Bot/Dark and Demon/Dark.
I'm mostly a performance>concept player but I made an exception on this occasion because I didn't want to roll another Thug, Bot or Demon. -
I'd like to hijack this thread to once again make an futile request that I/we the community have the option to disable the graphics of any power in the game which covers parts of the character's body and/or the entire body.
Hasten, Super Speed, Ice Shields, etc.
Disabling primary and secondary graphics will never happen which I acknowledge but at least they can offer a disable option for some of the pool powers.

Here are my two system reports. I've had mapserve problems for some months now. I was running this game on a geforce 8600 prior to buying the 430 and I didn't have mapserve problems then. True I had to run the game on the bare minimum settings but no mapserving.
Now even on the absolute minimum settings I'll mapserve. I know it shows High character but I have run this game as recently as last week on the bare minimum settings across the board as well as no sound.
I realize things might go smoother if I had a wired and not wireless connection but like I wrote earlier I did not have mapserve problems a few months back running the game on geforce 8600.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, that would obviously be the tier 3 you currently have slotted along with the second inactive tier 3 you have sitting in your alpha enhancement inventory.
Maybe not so obvious I suppose...
Allow me to ponder for a moment...
I have a tier 3 slotted...I then craft a second tier 3 which sits unslotted in the inventory space...
I then hit the create button next to the tier 4 alpha enhancement which shows I have all the necessary components...
owww
my brain got hurted. -
The moment you slot an Alpha enhancement, you have the (+1) tag showing underneath your displayed character level.
If you have to see it with your own eyes to believe it, then I'm afraid you're out of luck.
If you accept the idea that having an Alpha enhancement slotted means you are level 50 (+1) then there's no need to question whether it is or isn't.
That's the best I can do for you, in my own special A-hole sort of way -
Why would a guess from another customer be of any more relevance than yours?
If there are customers who have inside knowledge they absolutely won't post any specifics.
No doubt releasing any relevant information on upcoming content would result in their insider status being revoked. -
Attention Mr. Miller:
Count this post as another vote for/request for a studio B type area for the auction houses in Prae, Rogue and Paragon.
You can believe I'll do all my auction business there. -
Ah very good Z-Man.
As always you come through with a wealth of knowledge.
-
By no means am I as knowledgeable as most folks on these forums but I will share with you what little I do know about MM pets.
If you look at the detailed pet information in the game it tells you which type of enhancements you are allowed to place to buff your pets. If you put a damage enh. IO on a pet, that tier will have the damage on it's attacks enhanced by the value of the enh.
If you place an endurance reduction IO onto a pet that tier's endurance costs to run their respective powers will be reduced along with the cost to summon them. This I know with one billion % clarity.
The one power aspect I know players are not able to enhance is the individual recharge rates on your pet's powers. If you slot a recharge reduction IO on a pet you will only reduce the amount of recharge for summoning the pet.
There may be more than this particular aspect of pet powers that we are not able to buff. Range comes to mind. I've never tested whether this aspect can be buffed on pets.
I repeat you cannot enhance the recharge rate on a pet's attacks by any means, be that proc or otherwise.
Now being that the alpha enhancements buff each power you currently have by a certain %, slotting the cardiac alpha will result in a endurance reduction on every power in your build which accepts endurance reduction enhancements.
Now this last bit is off topic but I wish people on the boards would stop saying the alpha slot works "like a global enhancement." This is going to confuse a lot of nubs because they're going to read "global" and think of LotG.
So how about instead of saying the alpha works "like a global buff" we can say it's like a "universal buff." People will see the word "universal" and not think about LotG unlike with the word "global." -
This happens when resummoning Dark Servant. I know becuase I first summon assault bot with the 2nd upgrade only
once I resummon DS my AB now uses flamethrower.
I should add it makes no difference whether DS is resummoned b4 he expires or after because all my bots are hit with both upgrades in either circumstance. -
Ah ty Psi & Drag.
I must have been mistaken.
I"ll have to take my Storm defender out for a stroll in the near future -
I"ll share my experience with Storm and AVs.
Once upon a time I was running Maria's arc with 7 other people. I was the only source of debuff on the team.
To make a long story short, it wasn't until someone brought their Radiation Emission alt that we were able to defeat the AV.
My Storm defender had all the IO bonuses needed for perm Hasten, Achilles yadda yadda yadda.
I may be wrong but the most important debuff to have during a GM or AV fight is -regen.
Since you don't get -regen with Storm I don't see how one can solo an AV with Storm when a team of 8 weren't able to take Chimera down with Storm as the sole debuffer.
I'm sure I'm wrong about this anyway. -
Quote:Damage inflicted by a whip has less to do with sound waves and more to do with kinetic energy.Actually, for a traditional whip I'd think more sonic damage then lethal. The bulk of the damage from a whip comes not from the whip it's self, but the fact the tip is moving at the speed of sound. Getting hit by the tip (barely) is more painful then getting hit by the middle of a bull whip.
.
.
.
Don't ask how I know this.
So a whip powerset would in fact be lethal damage.
In all seriousness though..how many attacks could one possibly create based on a whip?
Single lash
Double lash
45' arc cone lash
quick lash to target's throat( stun or hold perhaps?)
taunt
pbaoe lash with knockdown
pbaoe crack whip( stun perhaps similar to Thunderstrike from Storm power set)
The last 2 attacks are tricky. Perhaps the tier 8 is a superior damage knockup? Grab target by leg and fling upward???
Tier 9 could be an extreme damage attack similar to Gravity's power Propel. Grabbing a random object out of thin air and flinging said object at target.
Then again the tier 9 could be the pbaoe knockdown as the tier 9 for dual pistols is a pbaoe.
You know..as much as people have their hearts set on this being a melee set for scraps, stalks, tanks and brutes....I'm thinking a whip set would work better as a ranged set.
After all a whip's full effectiveness is based on full extension of the whip. If it were a ranged set then obviously swap out the taunt for a build up.
Food for thought although we all know this particular set is years away with so much proliferation still needed, not to mention new missions, arcs, incarnate system and so on. -
Quote:I don't recall anyone, on the forums or ingame, ever saying Blasters are worthless.Until i deleted my AR/En blaster at lv 41 (just SO's), played a fire/sr scrapper to 44, a shield/ss tank to 46, a dark/ss tank to 50, a traps/sonic def to 50 and a cold/ice def to 50, and lastly played a fire/mental blaster to 50.
After this roundtrip taking some years, my main is now the fire/mental blaster (capped to s/l/e, with 153 recharge).
The thing is scrapper dmg looks equal or better on paper, but this does not take into account the fact that as a blaster with range, damage is applied faster (range) in most situations. All the time a scrapper spends running up to an opponent, the blaster spends blasting... I think many do not grasp this simple fact. Also I thought my traps/sonic would do equal DPS to a blaster, that is partly true (after a long time ramping up damage) but damage is not instant, and that seems to me to be the true strength of the blaster...Instant damage delivery without delay. Also AOE dmg is far better (with elec/shield scrapper being the exception).
Slotting for defence and global recharge makes it all even better. A blaster capped for range or s/l/e is plenty survivable for +2/8 for example.
To use this thread to now say a Blaster can outlive a Scrapper, Brute or Tank in any/all situations outside of AE...........
on top of that we have Rodion saying Defiance may be or is the best mez protection in the game?.........
it sometimes amazes me how some folks can be so shameless. -
Quote:With all due respect to you and everyone who'll respond to your thread, I don't think anyone can help you out here.Dont know if the title is appropriate....
I have 4 COX Accounts, 2 on EU 2 on US
I have 3 lvl 50's but i have been playing the game since mid 2005.... 5 years and 3 lvl 50'snone of them are IO'd out properly or Incarnate. I have alot of villains in 20 - 40 and loads under 20... some heroes mainly 95 % are villains...
I want to stop making new villains / heroes. I cant seem to stick with one or a couple and work them through all the levels.
I need some help advice for what i can do tto stick to one and stop making loads up then getting bored and moving around.....
any advice appreciated....
This is how you play this particular game. This could be your particular gaming style overall. Perhaps you're not the kind of gamer who sticks to one particular gaming goal but instead you enjoy to vary your gameplay.
Then again I'm probably wrong. I can see you taking something away from how others approach the game and altering your style.
When it comes to gaming my approach is all about maximizing performance. My particular view on gaming means I have little room for variety.
To make a long story short I currently have 8 lvl 50s, and of those 8 I only play 4 on a regular basis: the Ill/Rad, the DM/SR and 2 MMs.
I think my next project will be a shield Scrapper or Brute but for now I'm content with running on my ill/rad or dm/sr the majority of the time.

I've been working on the portal jockey accolade and did it in a very unorganized way. I have everything except 2 praetorian AVs. Problem is, I'm not sure which two. Is there anyway to find out which ones I've defeated?

Quote:Easy answer to this Q. Before you equip your Alpha boost you should take note of the current enhancement values on your powers that your alpha boost will enhance.Basically I have been trying to figure out how these alpha slots numbers are helping out. I am failing to see the changing in game number wise in the combat window.
I will use the recharge alpha for example. I placed it and looked at the numbers for Triage Beacon and didn't notice a difference with it on or off.
I attempted to do a visual inspection and really didn't notice much. Nutshell I have a 8 second gap between placement and recharge. It might have shorten up by a second or 2, but that is about it. If it did anything. Again I'm not sure.
So anyone mind sharing how to do the math to determine some of this stuff ? Is it 33% or is it 33% minus 1/6 which is not reduced by ED so its 27.5% and the other 5.5% is not ED affected ? Anyone know the numbers that ED would reduce something by ?
I'm just a bit lost and would like to have a leg up on this just to figure out what is really worth for a toon instead of just going with Damage or Recharge based on what I think I might need.
You then place the alpha boost and reopen your enhancements window to see the new values.
