  1. I would like to see a separation between GUILD and SUPERGROUP. I see a lot of suggestions about being able to vote people out of a guild, including a leader.

However, if I found a supergroup with a name I want then I don't want to be voted out. It's *my* supergroup. The Avengers, JLA, X-Men, Protectors, Fantastic Four, etc., are supergroups. I think too many people are stuck in the guild paradigm from other MMOs. For those people, have a guild system.

All other suggestions have been covered that I'm interested in (vaults, alliances, demoting captains if you're the SG creator).

    [ QUOTE ]

The reason why we don't do this is because players don't necessarily understand the effort that goes into features. Not everything can be voted on equally; some things take MUCH more effort than others. And this is not transparent...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think he just meant if you had a list of QOL issues and you had an internal priority set for them, take some of the more equally matched ones and let the users vote. Not just a free for all voting on what would be next in. Obviously the "nominees" would be picked by you anyways... eh but whatever.

    /I'd definitely vote.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You, Drakana, have a "can do" attitude. You very simply hacked that one out and gave him an option that would allow the player base to feel they were giving the game some direction, even if that's not the reality (might be, just sayin).

Just wanted to give you some props for being of the right mind on this one.

    Boss Changes

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
There is also the issue of things like the respec trial, which was even before the change considered very difficult for the average group.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Before the change, there was a success rate of just under 80%.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've tried to think about how to phrase this to avoid being inflammatory. 80% seems quite high. I don't think 80% of the teams I've been on have remained together for an entire trial.

Is this calculated by team completion, ie if even 4 members of an original 8 man team complete it then it's complete? Is it calculated with a simple "team chooses trial" and "trial was completed" standpoint? In my experience almost half the team quits about half the time. I haven't been recording my numbers, but it happens with such frequency that I have come to expect it rather than worry about it.

I would LOVE to do Pulp stuff...but would it sell? That's the issue.

Doc Savage. The Shadow. Agent 13. *shudders* Such great potential from the Pulp world.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You really want a game that sells? Spend the money for some licenses and do City of Clones. Every hero age 14 and under will flock to the stores.

Here's a few more instant successes:
    City of DragonBall
    City of Pokemon
    City of Small Female Cats
    City of WOOT
City of Jedis (my bad... it's being done as we speak)
City of Crafting (200k+ people all sitting in separate rooms)

And the best selling game of all time in the single male demographic:
    City of Beer and Boobies!
  5. City of 733t!

Add a choice on the archetype screen called "Uber." Upon selection the player is then locked into the new City of 733t game. Also, we can banish people from the current games to there when they accrue enough petitions. Then we can do Escape from New York type missions into their zones.

To the people who think this is such a huge problem I have to ask for I believe the 4th time in the last 3 days posting on different threads Exactly how many computer games or programs have any of you written before??

    [/ QUOTE ]

Following your own logic, no one should complain about their car unless they've engineered and built one from scratch.

You can't complain about your government unless you designed one and built it from scratch.

And don't even think about crabbing when you get food you don't like at a restaurant.

Since I doubt you've programmed a web forum for an MMO, stop using the forums, too.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
You may be happy. Many of your players are not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Apparently, since the Devs read the feedback they know this. I am now very confused because I thought the point of an MMO was to make money by providing entertainment to people.

By Statesman's statement it appears the purpose of an MMO is to make Devs happy with their testing numbers.

If you think, even for a second, States, that the players of the inv powerset are happy then set up a poll. This time, though, poll your player base and not your programmers.

I could care less what Geko (with all due respect) and Pohsyb (same) think about invuln changes. They can play a level 50 toon or anything in between at will. I have to remake a lvl 32 over from the ground up with a playtime budget of 1 hour a day.

The response decrying the invuln changes on the forums was beyond any other change ever proposed to this game.

The official thread on invuln changes (not to mention the zillion unofficial ones) is the third longest thread in the forums behind "Ask a stupid question" and "Official Marvel Lawsuit."

You may have read the community response, but it's clear you didn't care about community response at this point.

Well if he didn't mean Pilcrow, then shame on me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No shame on you zzMdude. He did indeed label me a "sack of crap" along with the person proposing we send the article to Glow Girl.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As I stated in my PM, Pilcrow, I do indeed apologize for labeling you a sack of crap. I was defending a friend and fellow SG member and you got in the way.

I stand by my comments to the other sack of crap.

I do see this thread as a good sign but I will beat down with a mighty club anyone who proposes expletives be sent my buddy's way. I don't mask my outrage behind mock politeness and I'm not about to start.

Mr. Pilcrow here said he hoped I was mature enough to apologize. Had that line been left from a very calm and reasoned PM this apology would sound much less forced.

    Nice avatar Pilcrow.

Alright, so now that we've got five pages, who's gonna go e-mail the Warcry people with the message "Five pages, [insert expletive of choice here]!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

"The longest threads are the complaints. Find me one over 5 pages with a "thank you" for fixing a bugged mission while the players were still on-line." - Glow Girl of WarCry

The whole point of the article was to motivate forum users to say thanks to a responsive dev team and to look past their own interests.

So some sack of crap comes on here, collects 5 pages of thank yous with the motivation to prove someone else wrong (based on their lame-o interpretation of an article they obviously either didn't read or didn't understand) and is followed by yet another sack of crap who wants people to send comments to Glow Girl containing curse words.

Well, Merry Friggin Christmas to you, too, [censored].

This is a skill all Immortals from Highlander have. They can be wearing a windbreaker and still whip out a full sized katana they apparently had on them while eating dinner.
  14. OMG! They nerfed the release date!

Seriously though, I have a friend who's sister talked to someone at a store that heard from an on-line acquaintance (that I suspect she met through eHarmony) who is related to a developer of a completely different game which spoke to a person at NCSoft once about a technical problem he had that said there is a sixty percent chance that CoV will definitely be coming out November 2004.

    VIP Badge does nothing.

It isn't an Accomplishment, so I couldn't put it there.
It isn't an Achievement, so I couldn't put it there.
It has nothing to do with Exploration, so I couldn't put it there.
It has nothing to do with History, so I couldn't put it there.

That left Accolade. I couldn't give it an effect, or the playerbase would be upset that we are "charging money to give some Heroes an advantage over others", and rightly so.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Will this philosophy remain steady for expansions and related material? I wouldn't want someone paying $50 to upgrade their account to get features I can't have for free.

EDIT: I thought about this a little more... I think the thing that really irks me is that I get more messages about how I wasted my money when I have powerslide on than I can count. Random people I don't know take the time to tell me what a waste of money my purchase was.

Then I get on the forums and hear from a Dev that I don't deserve something just because I spent money I earned in the real world on it.

I am willing to admit that this post is borne of anger and, therefore, probably not objective. I don't know how someone can help but be angry blowing $50 for cloud-sprint and a cape, though.

    Time Travel

    [ QUOTE ]
During the PCC event, didn't Cuppajo and the crew ask a few times whether us heroes would like the chance to travel back to fight during the Rikti Invasion?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're standing over the fallen archvillain, apparently foiling his diabolical plot. Suddenly the klaxons ring, clarion, throughout the metal hallways. A portal opens violently. Energy torrents from the rip in space-time sending your team to the hard, plate-steel floor. A form falls through, torn and gasping, sillouheted in the shimmering gateway.

Hero 1, fallen legend of Paragon City, heaves his weight from the floor. His breathing labored, his body beaten, he stumbles toward you. He falters and falls, propping his body up by his arms alone.

"I made it. You must help, there's no time. I've come forward to find heroes..."

You kneel down and your teammates gather around.

"Go through the portal, go back and save Paragon... the battle is lost without you... But be warned... If you lose, you will never return..."

    You look at your friends.

"It is more than anyone should ask," gasps Hero 1, his eyes fluttering, "it's more than anyone should give..."

The legend's eyes focus on something more distant than the cavernous ceilings of the chamber. His body shudders and all light leaves his face.

You have witnessed the end of Hero 1. He has given his life to find heroes who can stop the Rikti. He has told you that if you fail, you will not be coming back to the hospital. You will simply cease to be.

Your friends look at each other, and then to you, the leader of the Task Force. You know this one if for keeps. You look down at the cape worn by Hero 1. Your own cape flutters around your calves in the breeze generated by the portal.

    Well? What say you... hero?

    4) Equal treatment of travel powers. Either make these zones friendly to all movement types or make equivalent high gravity or high magnetics zones that make getting around with flight, leaping, or teleport just as much of a pain/timesink as these zones are to runners. The former seems to be the best approach...

<SNIP LONG RANT ON HOW RUNNING SUCKS>

    [/ QUOTE ]

Running has stealth, costs almost no endurance, and is YOUR CHOICE.

For crying out loud, why does everything in MMORPGs have an assumed need for some kind of zen balance with power harmony in the natural order of blah blah blah.

TP has it's up and downs, so does jumping, so does flight. And, yup, running, too. 8 zones bad on speed? Practice more. Learn the ramps. Learn the shortcuts.

This is coming from a player with SS on almost every character. If you can't learn to play with SS, don't choose it.

"But my character concept... whine whine whine..."

If your character concept is SS, then your character concept is gonna have to learn when to jump, how to manuever, or where to buy its cheese.

Faultline and Boomtown aren't ghostowns because incompetent speeders don't like it.

BTW- All the other ideas in that post (hospitals, black market, trials, etc) were really fantastic ideas.

Can we lay off the Power Word: BALANCE arguments for a bit?

Heh... I only see one problem with the Epic Pools...

    Blaster pools are fire/cold/energy/devices...

Who do I have to talk to to get electric mastery moved over?

But I've got good news... I just saved a load of money by voting for CuppaJo!

Please don't turn this thread into politics. It has no place here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again we are subjected to facts by assertion. Political philosophy permeates our social interactions, of which this forum is one. That you do not recognize such does not change it. You state politics have no place here and I state they cannot help but have a place here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Love making is a social interaction. By your own logic you must be a snooze-and-a-half in the sack.

StageIII pillow talk goes something like this: Hey, baby, you like that? Good. How about nationalized healthcare... yeah...

Keep your opinions of liberals out of the forums. Politics does not permeate all forms of social interaction and if it does yours then you are obsessed. What is really distressing is that you accuse Kaz of following the TRUTH process you yourself have inflicted on the forum with your absolute garbage about what permeates this and the implied definition of neoliberalism.

The only reason I'm posting this is because I know Kaz won't. She'll try to stay on topic while you flail about throwing fecal-stenched accusations about things that do not address whether or not the Hollows is too tough.
