  1. Does anyone have any contact information (past Facebook, etc.) for Chuck Lorre Production, specifically regarding the Big Bang Theory? The official website is just a vanity card archive.

My idea has no hope of actually saving the game, but the vindictive and reflective parts of my brain have combined to produce a hope of getting the end of City of Heroes recognized on the show somehow. I'd love some dialogue, a vanity card mention would also be cool.

They might do it anyway, as CoH has been wandering around the background for most of the show's run - standups in the comic book store, Captain Sweatpants' t-shirt, etc. I'd just love to see the good Captain in a black suit and have someone explain he's in mourning over the sacrifice of his game to corporate greed or something. Lorre's a little twisted, he might go for it.

Anyway, if anyone has a good electronic or physcial mail address, I'll send the letter.
  2. Seconded. I'd very much appreciate the opportunity to discuss where else we might reestablish the community NCSoft has decided to toss aside.

The presupposes Starship Troopers has already been made. The existing abortion with that title doesn't count. I'd like to see a movie actually based on the novel.
  4. I could see him as Hal Jordan - the cocky fighter pilot Jordan, not the emo one imposed on Ryan Reynolds.
  5. This is about the 37th 'definite' statement on something regarding this movie I've seen in the last 20+ years. I'll believe statements about who is in or out of the movie only after I've seen it (probably on Netflix unless they do something to spark my interest). I wouldn't put it past Akroyd and Murray to be trying to play some kind of practical joke. "We said Bill wouldn't be in the movie. We didn't say anything about his ghost."

    Fixed that for you.

Is there any prognosis for the mace mastery tailor issue? As the discussion a couple of posts back indicates, it seems to be getting worse. Now switching to a non-mace build no longer serves as a workaround.

Edit: Nevermind - I just figured out that I had to have my bow selected in the weapons drop down for a costume change to take. Not sure how that would work on a toon without a primary/alt weapons to select.

    Tailor bug

That must be it - thanks.

    Tailor bug

Is anyone else having problems getting costume changes to take? I go to the tailor, make the changes, am charged the inf for them, but nothing has changed on my character when I'm finished.

It's also showing uncorrectable errors on all of my saved costume files, but I'm less worried about that.
  11. I may watch it for the simple brilliance of casting Bob Hoskins as Smee, again.

Speaking of Pixar, is it just me or does the gunslinger run like Woody from Toy Story?
  13. I wonder if the sense of humor in the trailer will translate to the game.

"Had to go and touch it"

"Every life on this planet is precious...except that one"

    It caught my interest, anyway.
  14. Is it just me, or does this look more like a very realistic artist's rendering, rather than an actual picture?
  15. I have no particular loyalty to any variant of Spiderman's genesis. With this in mind, let me sum up my impression of the trailer:

    meh

There are enough superhero movies coming next year that this one is going to have to show me something different before I get interested. The trailer looks like a Mk 1 Mod 0 excerpt from the studio executive "how to make the youngsters think you're a hip cat" playbook.

For him, the film is a fun, popcorn, summer action flick and not in by any means, high art. He clearly recognized quite a few problems with the film, as far with regards to some editing issues, story / plot issues, but said these things are quite common in many other typical summer action movies. He did state he thought the actors all did well in their roles.

The reason he believes the views are so poor is that other super hero themed movies have set up greater expectations for critics and perhaps even the audience at large. Movies like the last two Batman and Iron Man films in particular have raised the bar as to what a well done super hero film can look like. So when people see summer blockbuster super hero film announced, they tend to measure them against the bar of those other really good movies.

Over all he recommended people go see it for the fun of it, not to expect a great film, but one that is just fun like any other action flick.
I saw the first matinee today, and this is a great summary of what I was going to say.

    Anyway, +1.
  18. Specifically, I was wondering if standing in any spot in particular with force bubble on would help in the escaping prisoners phase. Anyone tried this out (and willing to speak of it)? I was thinking that standing just north of the southern path would do a pretty good job of slowing traffic through there, as it'd force the prisoners into the building.
  19. Pretty sure that the spot in Africa refers to Gorilla City. (Gorilla Grodd, and all that).
  20. I think they did Amy a disservice there at the end. Rory wanted her to try to save him because she'd "never give up." She lasted what, 5 breaths into the resuscitation before collapsing in tears and giving up.

Also, in 900 years the Doctor's never learned CPR?

Put my vote in the "weakest episode of Moffatt's run" column.

    Dr Who 23/04/11

One of the interviews with Moffat somewhere said that this season was going to look at the impact of messing with the timeline, so I'm going to guess that this will head off whatever series of events that led to the Doctor's death. Also, this episode was aired with "limited commercial interuptions", so there will be bits missing the next time it's on BBC.

I do like the new FBI guy. "This man walked into the oval office with a big blue box. That's the man he walked past. Which one do you want to listen to?"

    I'm a superhero

Cool, I always wanted to be an astronaut. Turns out I've been one the whole time. (also born in the signature year for that sign)
  23. Looks like Amy Adams got the nod. I like this pick, but I've started my stopwatch to see how long it is before somebody starts wanking about Lois being almost ten years older than Clark.

  24. You might be able to create such a character in this day and age, but, as this is the age of multimedia, you probably won't be able to do it in just one format. For instance, the only new iconic characters I can think of in the last 20 years are Harry Potter and Neo. Neo was mostly movies, but spread around a bit.

If someone comes up with a new comic character that was subsequently made into a series of imagination capturing movies or a long-running TV show or something, it might transition.

Unfortunately, you have to wait a few decades to see if they're still popular/known before you can call them iconic.
